The Cloister Walk | Kathleen Norris

Pickpick

This book was a tough read (reading via my vintage kindle added to the challenge), but I stuck with because it was good. I have personal experiences that gave me specific interests in the author‘s details and I think that was essential to my positive opinion of this book. Kathleen is a poet and how that juxtaposed with her time spent in the theology of Benedictine monasteries was fascinating. #NunLitQuarterly

From my nightly read. #poetryandpsalms #nunlit #nunlitquarterly
The author attended the Benedictines‘ chanting of the Divine Office, which often included psalms. This brings to mind Louise Penny‘s book,The Beautiful Mystery.

My library had this in audio, so I started listening to it for #nunlit #nunlitquarterly, only to find it‘s really not suitable for listening— at least not for me. I couldn‘t remember much of what I heard, so I returned the audiobook and got the Kindle book for $4.99. I‘m appreciating it more in print.

This book was published in 1996 so it may be in libraries. I did not realize it was 382 pages so we can go into February! Please let me know if you do not want to be tagged. I took the list from @jlhammar

Centique Happy new year Katherine. Im going to step out as i have a lot of other reading commitments this year. All the best 💕 4w
Librarybelle My library did have a copy, so I picked it up this week! I‘m fine with whatever the group decides about whether or not to carry into February. 4w

Deblovestoread I somehow missed this but my library has a copy so will pick up and join in. I‘m happy to read however the group decides. Thank you! 4w
Suet624 I read this years ago, maybe just a few years after she had published it. I might still have a copy, but rather than hunt in boxes for it I've decided to grab a copy from the library in Burlington (an hour away). It's the only library around that has it. Again, thank you for keeping Nunlit going. 4w

Suet624 @jlhammar thank you for originally organizing this. (edited) 1mo
marleed Oh fun! Thanks for carrying on. I read 3 of 4 books last year and was so happy this group brought them to my attention. I couldn‘t find a readable copy of the last book (literally couldn‘t read the words on the faded/used mass market paper back I found on line🤣). Thank you @jlhammar for starting this! 1mo
Librarybelle So happy this is continuing, and I‘m fine with these selections. Thanks for carrying on this group, @kspenmoll , and a huge thank you to @jlhammar for originating this group and for all of your work organizing and finding titles—I have a few books I didn‘t have a chance to read during the discussion months but plan to read them. It‘s a great group! 1mo
quietjenn Thank you both for the work in starting and maintaining this group. I will likely read along for at least a few. 1mo
