I loved this book and wish I hadn't let this sit on my bookshelf for so long!

Miranda inherits a Bookshop from her estranged uncle, that includes clues she has to decipher, just like when she was a little kid. I had to suspend disbelief a little, as it seems he left a lot up to chance. But the whimsical nature of it lightened the heartbreak of the story.

And I loved all of the references to Shakespeare and the classics!

Texreader How lovely! It‘s on my tbr list 1w
Librariana That sounds absolutely lovely! ☺️ I could've sworn I owned a copy of it, but maybe I imagined it?? ? Either way, glad you read it and enjoyed it and that it is "off the shelf"! 1w

A very soft pick for me. Henry has taken the romans tropes and played around with them a bit, but ultimately, it‘s still an enemies-to-lovers story. It‘s well-written, with character development, but apparently I only enjoy romances in December. And I‘m also a bit of a prude ‘cos I don‘t like the spicy bits!

I loved this novel of family, identity, and the power of cake. 😂 Seriously, it‘s a well written story that draws you in and with one exception, makes you love all the characters. I‘m looking forward to my book club‘s discussion. #litsyAtoZ #letterB

mcctrish I really enjoyed this and honestly had no idea ‘christmas cake‘ had travelled so far 1mo

Abby has run away from college seeking adventure. Her dad, a paleontologist, has left her out of his own adventures digging up dinosaurs. So when she and private detective learn that dinosaur bones have been found, Abby practically forces Jackaby to investigate. Meanwhile Jackaby has taken on the task of caring for kittens. Sadly, neither the bones nor the kittens are what they appear to be, and neither is the handsome young cop who has caught ⬇️

Texreader Abby‘s eye. The cop Charlie, Jackaby, and Abby set out to catch the monster plaguing the site of the dig. An excellent side story—based on real life—is about the two famous paleontologists who fight over who owns the right to the dig and the bones! And there‘s one more mystery to be solved: who killed the beautiful woman who now resides as a ghost in Jackaby‘s house? #litsyatoz #letterB 1mo
Karisa These books are so much fun! I had kind of forgotten about them. Thanks for reminding me 😊 1mo

A fantastic music memoir! The audiobook is fantastic, but now I‘d like a physical copy too, just to see the photos. Diamond and Horovitz tell their story so well, and it‘s very obvious that they dearly love and miss Yauch, and I‘d say this book is a beautiful tribute to him (RIP).

#bookspinbingo - this is my #doublespin for this month!
#jumpstart2025
#pop25 - book where music plays an integral part of the storyline

TheAromaofBooks My husband really enjoyed this book. Loads of photos in the hard copy - it's honestly just a really well-bound book. I love it when nonfiction has its photos scattered throughout the text instead of in random clumps. So I definitely recommend getting a hold of the physical book if you can!! 2mo

What an excellent book—a huge shoutout to the power of women over misogyny early last century, mostly set in #Canada but a few important moments in #Boston. The main character was raised to be a midwife. When a male doctor comes to town, he insists the old ways are dangerous and his newfangled ways (including forceps) are safer. There is so much to unpack about this book a short review cannot do it justice. In general, it speaks to the power ⬇️

Texreader of women in the face of a culture that deems men smarter, stronger, saner, safer, etc. And it does it, for the most part, in a beautiful and subtle way. The book is set during World War I and the Spanish flu. The author doesn‘t miss a beat with current events in Canada and Boston at the time. Easily one of the best books I‘ve read this year. #foodandlit @Catsandbooks 3mo
