It took a few chapters for me to get into this story, but once I did I liked it for the most part. I thought there were a few flaws in the storyline, but it was a fun story of Lily, Nicole, Leo, Walt, Bradley, and Terry on a treasure hunt for the stolen money of Butch Cassidy.

wanderinglynn Yay! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 it‘s off your shelf! 🎉 4d
TheAromaofBooks This one just wasn't what I was expecting. I felt like nothing I read prepared me for an actual murder, so it made some of the fun campier vibes feel out of place to me. 4d
CoffeeNBooks @TheAromaofBooks Yes, my thoughts exactly. 3d

A story of a convent and the community surrounding them told through letters from Sister B. It was delightful to see how much prayer actually worked for all the travails experienced by the nuns. If only that worked for all of us! It was sweet to watch how they relied on each other and continually learned new things in order to navigate fundraising for their convent. #NunLit

Not that it will happen, but every soon-to-be father should be required to read sections of this book. A woman explains what her life has become once she has become a mother. Her husband is busy at work and he abdicates all responsibility for the child. The exhaustion, anger, disappointment, loneliness, desperate love and raging anger toward a young child, all of it was perfectly described.

#offtheshelf

Tamra I was lucky, my husband was really great co-parenting both of our children as infants & tots. (Not that he isn‘t now, but that‘s the focus of the novel.) I have serious admiration and at times sympathy for single parents & guardians without a source of support. 2w
Suet624 @Tamra my situation is so varied. Three marriages, children every 7 years with the last two being twins. I was a single mom occasionally. My last husband was very helpful. The others, not so much. Living in a commune with my first child was VERY helpful. 2w
TheBookHippie I agree. A must read. 2w

Tamra @Suet624 I can see any arrangement with multiple responsible adults in a household with small children would be a great fortune! 2w
Suet624 @Tamra it really was the best. 2w
BarbaraBB I loved this book too. That husband though. I can‘t imagine living with and tolerate such a man 2w
Anna40 I think most men, even if they read it, would still not understand. But great review! 2w
Suet624 @Tamra I was thinking about your comment again and it made me wonder why some men are great at understanding the needs of a new mother and others aren‘t. Probably a million reasons but I‘m glad yours was on top of things. 😊 2w
Suet624 @BarbaraBB I know! And I fear it or some variation of it happens more than we like to think. 2w
Suet624 @Anna40 oh my. You might be right. 2w
Tamra @Suet624 we were way older than average and ready so that was part of it and my husband isn‘t thoughtless. 😂 2w
Suet624 @Tamra that‘s a great point about age. That‘s definitely a huge factor. (edited) 2w

This is a beautifully written book based on a true story. A husband and wife decide to separate and seemingly have an amicable visitation schedule with their 6 year old twins. However, after one particular visit, the husband commits suicide and the children are never seen ago. The book creatively describes the ways in which the wife struggles to find her children and how she manages (or doesn‘t) to live with the grief.

Amiable Sounds very intense! 2w
Suet624 @Amiable it‘s told in a way that doesn‘t knock you over - I felt like it had a certain remove that made it easier to read. 2w
sarahbarnes Wow, this does sound intense, but I‘m intrigued. Stacking. 2w

BarbaraBB Great review. I enjoyed it too but not as much as you did 2w
Suet624 @sarahbarnes Sarah, can you send me your email address? Mine is Suet624 at gmail. 2w
Suet624 @BarbaraBB oh, just saw your review of it. I actually liked what you didn‘t like - the varying narratives. 😂 i will say it did feel a bit removed to me but in this case I think that helped me. 2w
sarahbarnes Yes! 😀 2w
Reggie This sounds so depressing. I want to but I will not. lol 2w

Interesting book about the massacre of an isolated community by a band of Bigfoots. Loved the protagonist's journey and the format (diary entries mixed with interview excerpts), but the novel doesn't dig deep into its themes, especially the society breaking apart aspect.

DogMomIrene I‘ve got to get around to this one. Brooks was on Real Time last week. He‘s always a great guest. Lots of timely observations. 2w

Rachel and Drew are dealing with the care of their aging mom who has Alzheimers and often doesn't recognize them. On one of Rachel's visits, her mom tells her about a book she wants her to find. The sisters find the book hidden in their mom's sewing room, a book about a woman named Tomoe Gozen who was a samurai warrior in Japan in the 1100s. They wonder what it has to do with their mom, and why she wanted to make sure they had it.

Read and Liked:
📚 The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy

📚 Dorothy Must Die
📚 Flying Too High

Reading the background information on Styles. A few weeks ago I bought the new „Poirot“ by Aldrigde only to realize I have an older version of this kind of background info book by Anne Hart already on my bookshelf. 🙈🙈🙈 Okay, this way I can check out the development of the Agatha Christie research from 1990 to 2022. 😜 #offtheshelf

#BookReview
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The first book I read this year is The Woman in Cabin 10. I had it on my shelf for a long time and finally decided to read it. I was immediately sucked into the story. With every chapter I was more surprised. I really did not see it coming. Especially not this ending. It was really quite a surprise. However, the story is missing a little something to give it a fifth star.

maich This year I made a #bookjar. For every book I read, I will put 1€ inside. We'll see how many coins I'll save up. 1mo

It was a nice overview of pop culture during the 90's. It's a bit US/UK centered, but it covers a good range of topics: there's the first Iraq war, rave culture, the art scene, apocalyptic cults, Princess Di, the Internet starting to loom over everything. All in all, an interesting read.

Librariana Does it essentially translate to "the delirious 90s: a history (story??) of the last decade of the 20th century"?? 1mo
Librariana Congratulations on getting it read and off your shelf! 😁😊 1mo
galueth28 @Librariana Thanks! And that's indeed the right translation. 1mo
