It took a few chapters for me to get into this story, but once I did I liked it for the most part. I thought there were a few flaws in the storyline, but it was a fun story of Lily, Nicole, Leo, Walt, Bradley, and Terry on a treasure hunt for the stolen money of Butch Cassidy.

I first read this book back in 2012 and knew it was one I wanted to find and add to my own collection. Lindbergh writes from a seaside cottage where she is on holiday, each chapter looking at a different seashell and using it to reflect on a different aspect of life. Published in 1955, it was an era where woman were still mostly home-focused, but with advancing technology opening up more time and opportunities for them. I found her thoughts on ⬇

Rachel and Drew are dealing with the care of their aging mom who has Alzheimers and often doesn't recognize them. On one of Rachel's visits, her mom tells her about a book she wants her to find. The sisters find the book hidden in their mom's sewing room, a book about a woman named Tomoe Gozen who was a samurai warrior in Japan in the 1100s. They wonder what it has to do with their mom, and why she wanted to make sure they had it.

Laura is a lifestyle reporter who focuses her work on love stories and how people met. She travels to the island of Jersey to visit all of the locations featured in her parents' love story. However, shortly after arriving she realizes she got the wrong suitcase at the airport... but hopes it might lead her to her soulmate, because this suitcase is full of the things she loves, including To Kill a Mockingbird and Phil Collins music. ⬇️

A very subjective #FourFoursin25 choice, but it makes sense to me.

I liked this considerably more than the second book, though there are always several things in a Penny book that make me go “huh?“ And I do NOT like Clara being messed with!

It's always a pleasure to return to Kate Burkholder's world, and while the 16th installment had some plot twists that stretched believability a bit, it was still enjoyable. Love the characters in this series. Kate is gritty and tough without being obnoxious (actually, she kind of reminds me of Eve Dallas of the In Death series) and Castillo always writes the Amish as real people. It's also always fun to read books set in Ohio and actually know ⬇

Julian & Thea were likable but I can't say I rooted for them 100 %. The beginning was good but at some point I wasn't super invested.

I hate cliffhanger endings. This didn't work really well as an individual book.

I was intrigued by a side story. There was a strange group of people and I want to know what they want and who they are.

The husband & I have been off this week, and instead of going to FL as originally planned, we've hunkered down and had the most relaxing, chill week ever - and three days left to go!! I've been reading up a storm and have completed 6 books so far this year. None of them were mind-blowing, but since it's the beginning of the year, they check off so many challenge prompts 😂 So here's the skinny (sorry for the hosts getting tagged multiple times!):

The queer subtext in Ostertag's books finally... comes to the surface. Gorgeously illustrated graphic novel about friendship and peer pressure, first love and coming out. Like everyone else, I was dying for an epilogue, but can understand why the author might not have wanted to provide one.
