Just think about that sentence from the book for a second. To look how women naturally look is to be viewed as ugly in today's image-obsessed world. What a f***ed up world that is!
This book treads familiar ground but is updated to encompass the additional pressures that girls & young women face from the 'digital gaze.' All I can say is that I am glad I was a teenager before smartphones, & Instagram.

Book 3 of the Shady Hollow series is set in the fall season with cozy food & drink & town elections with🐻Orville running for Police Chief while 🦊Reporter Vera Vixen has a new mystery to solve. One of the Mirror Lake rats 🐭claims her husband was murdered even though he‘s right there. I‘m working my way through this cozy mystery series before the new one is out in July & enjoying the small town of animals vibe.
so-soI liked the 80s nostalgia of Westchester County, where I grew up. As for the story itself, eh, it was alright and not as compelling as I thought it would be. I hate going into books with high expectations 😕

pickTom Hanks is a wonderful narrator for this story the writing is just so good yet a little long in this one.The story follows Danny and Maeve and their childhood home The Dutch House with a mother who disappeared and a emotionally distant father,his new wife and children,and later Danny‘s wife and children this novel looks at two siblings who find home with each other

pickI really liked this one! I loved Ern and the way he told his family‘s story. This got very twisty but was done very well. Glad I finally got to this one!
