I‘ve always meant to read this book but never got around to it until now. It really was worth reading. It is truly a story that tells how a decision made in a single moment has consequences that last a lifetime. It is also about how that decision affects all those around you. It‘s very thought provoking. It takes place in the 1960‘s through the 1980‘s. I think it is a story for that time period. Overall I think it was a very good book.

This book won me over. Towards the beginning it felt as if the plot, though interesting, was predictable. However, as the book progressed, the characters were complex and the story took some unexpected directions. This was a great book club pick! Lots to discuss.

Toxic secrets and damaged families. I read this for book club. I was dreading it but it was interesting (and depressing).

I was torn between pick and so-so for this one. I really enjoyed the first half of the book but I found the end very rushed. I liked getting to know every character and seeing their struggles and accomplishments throughout the book. However, I know it was set in 1965-89 but the use of the R word really threw me off 😅

This is my book spin for July! It was #20 on my july list 😊 @TheAromaofBooks

Sad and beautiful. Fleshes out the listless housewife stereotype with much more. It‘s a voice you‘ve already heard, but you‘ll still enjoy what it has to say

Poignant and atmospheric, this was a powerful and interesting book. When a past experience influenced a fateful decision made on a stormy, winter night it shapes the future of a family for the rest of their lives. And when a brave woman interferes and also makes a choice, that takes it further. It addresses growing up different, the damaging effect of secrets and the hope that grows with love. It will stay with me for a while. #recentlyread ❤️

Wednesday morning reading with #Zeke . I started this a few days ago and like the writing style. Slightly nervous, though, since so many Littens have this a so-so rating. #catsoflitsy

"The Memory Keeper's Daughter" is devastating and really makes you think about the effects of keeping a secret from those you love. With a promising start, I enjoyed the first half but began to lose interest as the pages went on. I'm glad to finally be taking this off my TBR list, it's 3 stars from me!

I was super excited about this book based on the premise, but it didn't come to life in the way I expected. Although a good start, it slowed down and never picked back up. Also, listening to the audiobook, the chapter breaks were a bit jarring as the guitar music didn't make sense until about 3/4 through the book.

#WinterWonderland #BabyItsColdOutside When a Dr.‘s wife goes into labor in the midst of a blizzard he decides to deliver the child at home with the aid of his trusted nurse. But the delivery isn‘t easy and it‘s not one baby but 2. Realizing one of the twins has a birth defect the dr thinks it will be better to say the child died 🙄and gives the baby to his nurse. The nurse then opts to raise the little girl as her own. Dire consequences arise👇🏼

These past 3 months I‘ve really slowed down on my reading. Was going through anxiety and every time I would try and wind down and read, my mind would constantly wander off. I‘m having a really good week so far and my anxiety has eased a lot and found I‘m back to full concentration and this book is so damn good so far. Readers‘ block sucks!

This was 12/13 for #13books13weeks
I mostly just spent this book being angry at the father... I was hoping there would be some great redemption for him. That didn‘t really come.. and the ending seemed sort of rushed and not that satisfying. Also.. I downloaded an abridged audio version accidentally which actually left out entire characters, so when I tried to switch between print and audio I was really confused

Stacy_31 I really enjoyed this book but do have to agree that the ending did feel rushed. How odd that the entire characters were left out. (edited) 6y

I loved the concept, but felt the book was overall pretty slow. It was bogged down with a lot of unnecessary detail. I loved the characters and their individuals trials, Phoebe and Caroline were my favorites.

Definitely can relate to Norah‘s loss. And I‘m sure the reactions of her acquaintances will be quite similar to when/if I am blessed with another child. “No one else will say a word about her. They act like since I have Paul, I ought to be satisfied. Like lives are interchangeable.”
