I enjoyed this as a kind of quick first finish of the year. I did do it as an audiobook, not sure i would have enjoyed it in another format.

I was hoping this would be as fun and charming as the cover, but by 12% in, I couldn't take anymore. I don't need the writer to continually tell me they are "rivals" in the rivals-to-lovers trope. I got it after the 1st few pages. Soooo much telling instead of showing, especially the sexual tension. It loses something when you beat the reader over the head with it. I get it...they want to jump each other. Moving on to something better to end 2024.
Okay. I‘m out. I wanted to like this so much but I just can‘t. So many things I hate from, I‘m going to walk in the jungle at night by myself, to I don‘t want to have this reputation but I‘m going to conduct myself in a way that perpetuates this reputation in front of people I barely know. 🙄 And what kind of person brings a vibrator, and fancy underwear (in case there‘s a night out) to an archeological dig but no batteries or condoms? Ugh.
I really wanted to love this book. Unfortunately, I never connected with the characters and I felt some of the scenes were awkward. On a positive note, I liked the plot. It just needed something more.. maybe a bit more polish. 3 ⭐️

A fun adventure, enemies to lovers romcom. I liked the whole Lara Croft/Indiana Jones/Goonies vibe. I also liked that the characters were older than 20. Yes, it wrapped up a little too quickly (the big drama all happens in the last 3-4 chapters), & like many romcoms, wraps up a bit too neatly (not only a HEA, but “fortune & glory”). But it‘s still a fun read. I also really liked the authors note on how this story came about.

3✨ really like how books alternate chapters with POVs in a Rom Com. This was a fun one of Indiana Jones meets Lara Croft. I enjoyed the hate to love start, and the guy was more the damsel by the end. It was pretty spicy, and funny. Overall, I enjoyed this adventure and the characters.
#LittensLoveRomance Ch.23-end and Review: An exciting chapter and then a satisfying and romantic end. Overall I enjoyed this book though I did have my issues with both Corrie and Ford. Still, the setting was great, there was adventure, it was not your typical romance, and it had several fun moments. I called most of what happened but I do the same in these types of movies - predictable but entertaining never hurt anyone.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. The characters grew, but the authors sex scenes were a little bit weird for me. I found lots of bingo spots with the cover of this book. Thanks to @StayCurious for the wonderful memes. #LittensRomansReadathon #ISpyBingo @Clwojick @TheAromaofBooks #ReadAway24 @Andrew65 @DieAReader @GHABI4ROSES
I enjoyed this book but some of the words that were used for the steamy parts put me off a little. Corrie is an excellent female character, she is smart, assertive and adventurous. I like the whole Indiana Jones vibes but with Corrie as the Indy even though Ford was named after him. Lost treasure, ancient Aztec culture, jungles of Mexico; it was all appealing. There is also a good twist at the end that escalates the whole story which was great.
4.5/5 ⭐️ I enjoyed this funny adventurous romance! I'd read more from this author! #littensloveromance
#LittensLoveRomance Ch.21-22: So everything about the investor and the dig was a lie. My question is, was it Ford‘s responsibility to look further into Vautour and make sure things were on the up and up? Especially since he brought on his own people? Man, I‘d feel terrible if I were him, and his self esteem is already low. And now how is he supposed to pay Corrie back? Ugh, what a mess. Two chapters to fix everything! Can they do it?
You know what? I had fun with this one! I was not too sure about Ford and Corrie annoyed me a bit, but I highly enjoyed the adventure and archeological aspects of the book. The last few chapters were exciting and I'm actually looking forward to reading a sequel (if there is one). 4⭐️

#LittensLoveRomance Ch:19&20: Oy. Corrie has a right to be furious with Ford. He did not handle things well and he is not handling things well. I understand he had his motives but I wish he would be strong now and work with the others to get out of this mess. Instead he‘s just an angry sad mess himself. I‘m annoyed with him and hope he snaps out of it soon and makes us proud.
Cute and fun read… was it my favorite… no but it was a nice change of pace to romp through the Mexican jungle looking for treasure!
#littensloveromance
#LittensLoveRomance Ch.17&18: Well - who called the investor being an a-hole? Clearly someone‘s spying for him and my guess is Lance. What do you do when someone who holds a lot of power threatens you and the people you care about? I would want to hide Chimalli‘s remains out of spite haha. Ford‘s going to have to work with Corrie I think to get through this one.
#LittensLoveRomance Ch.15&16: what a discovery they‘ve made (a sad one I think). What does this mean about Chimalli‘s fate? And who do we think is the wannabe thief in camp? If they‘ve found the remains they‘re looking for, does this spell the end of the dig and the end of Corrie and Ford‘s romance? Can he convince her to continue after they return to “real” life? Will she want to after he spills his secret? Hmmm a lot of questions coming up.
#LittensLoveRomance Ch.13&14: Okay, maybe Corrie and Ford are growing on me a bit. I did like that Ford is opening up to her and they cleared up one thing from the past. We know Ford is wild about Corrie, but I think Corrie is falling hard as well. But she will definitely be harder to convince when it comes to forming a relationship. ⬇️
#LittensLoveRomance Ch.11&12: Corrie sneaking off to go to the new site alone, at night, in the jungle - so impulsive. No wonder she‘s gotten into trouble before. She definitely thinks with her feelings first. Speaking of feelings…and general hormones…it was only a matter of time before we had sexy times inside a tent. But, I do find myself a bit meh about it. Who else is not necessarily falling for this couple?
#FirstLineFridays @ShyBookOwl
"Yes. A thousand and one percent, yes."
#LittensLoveRomance Ch.9&10: Well, now things are getting exciting- we‘ve got action, some close calls, and the heat is building btw Ford and Corrie. I‘m glad he is opening up to her - I think he is growing as a character with her help. And it seems as though they‘ve found their dig site - which is great for everyone involved. But I‘m sure the stakes will increase now that they‘ve found something. ⬇️
#LittensLoveRomance: If I was Ethan, I would have been more pissed at Corrie and Ford for getting drunk in the middle of the day instead of working. But maybe they made progress in opening up to each other. At least until that stupid argument over the walkie talkie. Oy. I‘m finding Ford less and less appealing when his jerk side comes out. ⬇️
#LittensLoveRomance Ch.5&6: well, that conversation got real. I‘m surprised Corrie pushed Ford to open up when she‘s got so much pent up anger about him inside her. She needs to flat out confront him about some of the slimy things he‘s done (like taking that fellowship, that dig in Peru…the list goes on.) But maybe she‘s able to put that aside to focus on his needs because she‘s a good person. Better than me haha - I hold a grudge.⬇️
Started this for the September #LittensLoveRomance two-chapters-a-day readalong with @StayCurious !
Loving the sexual tension and witty banter!
And it‘s great to see that the book characters acknowledge the similarities of Ford Matthews, archeologist, being named after Harrison Ford, Indiana Jones - archeologist!
#LittensLoveRomance Ch.3&4: Ford made a pretty costly mistake, picking the wrong place to dig and staying there for 3 months. What do you think the investor‘s going to say when they pack things up and move? Yikes-I wouldn‘t want to be him right now. I agree with the idea of wanting to help his mother above all else, but I don‘t like his idea that his needs “trump” Corrie‘s. That‘s not fair. ⬇️
#LittensLoveRomance Ch.1&2: Already this seems like a fun movie - unrealistic but fun. I don‘t care who you are, you wouldn‘t hop on a plane to Mexico and put your college professor career technically on hold for something that wasn‘t a sure thing. The whole mysterious man in her office thing - very Spielberg, but I kinda dig it - haha…no pun intended.⬇️
#currentread I‘ve had this book for awhile, I‘m so glad it‘s a #buddyread with @StayCurious this month! #littensloveromance

#LittensLoveRomance With over 50% of the vote, we‘re diving into the jungle with a book that has Indiana Jones and Romancing the Stone vibes. This one looks like a good time! Let her know if you want to join and be tagged in my daily posts, which will start Sept 15.

The idea for this.book was fantastic, and I feel like if they had focused a bit more on what made it unique (the archeological setting) and less on the adults thinking about sex constantly it would have been much better. I'm still curious enough to read the next one to see if the author finds a better balance.
Rival archaeologists have to team up on an Aztec expedition. Dr. Socorro and Dr. Matthews first met at Grad school. They share a rocky past but try to put it to one side for the ‘dig‘. With smugglers and thieves and not knowing who to trust, they decide to keep their discoveries under wraps.
The two MCs had a lot of witty banter and chemistry. The academic rivalry had my interest too. Several secondary characters were great to read about as well.
Belle helped me choose my new read tonight.
Archeology, jungle, treasure - what more could a girl want on Friday night! 💰 💴 💎

This was a fun adventure movie style rom com. I found the two leads to be likeable and the relationship conflict believable.
Jo Segura and I have some things in common. In her note at the end of the book she describes her love for adventure stories/films and archeology. She wanted to write a book that not only reflected her love for Indiana Jones, Lara Croft, the Librarian,... but also her Mexican heritage. I think she managed it well.
A 🌶️ #RomCom about a pair of chalk and cheese archaeologists who've been loathing each other for years, or have they?

Enjoyable and fun. Ending got wrapped up a bit quick for my liking, but that‘s ok.
What fun! This was an adventurous romp of a book, with JUST enough plot to balance out the smutty bits. The FMC, Corrie, is strong and independent, almost to a fault, and the MMC, Ford, is always trying to do the right thing in the wrong way. They clash as much as they fit, and it‘s pretty entertaining to watch. Definitely has those Romancing the Stone vibes, which was great, and a charming HEA. Enjoyed thoroughly.
Extremely disappointed in this book. It doesn‘t have any real adventure a la Indiana Jones until the last couple of chapters and is just plain boring.
Corrie is brought in as the expert on a dig by Ford, who she blames for her career being slower than she wants. A bunch of whinny dialog and sex happen and then a tiny bit of adventure to secure their big archeological find.
1/5 stars. I‘m really mad that I bought this
Read in January. (Last one!)
As a lover of The Mummy and other adventure rom-coms, I thought this would be my catnip. Alas, that wasn‘t the case. Even though the characters are on a dig in the jungles of Mexico, the story lacks the thrilling adventure I expected. I‘m also not sure I loved the male lead, Ford. Physically, he was fine, but I‘m not sure about the rest of the package.
Such a pretty cover though.
It‘s been a while since I bought a book and then that same day, sat there and read it. This book was great! An archeologist gets invited to a secret dig and finds out it‘s her “enemy” from grad school.
Enemies to lovers, second chance romance. Set in the jungles of Mexico. Perfect if you want a female Indiana jones or are interested in a bit of archeology.

As unbelievable as it is, I don‘t think I‘ve ever read a bar/brewery before. Just bought this book today from #wordonthestreet bookstore
Enjoying some much needed NYE porch reading 😌
Wishing everyone a happy and healthy year ahead. 💓
Light pick 3 ⭐️. This was a fun adventurous romp, taking inspiration from Indiana Jones, The Mummy, and Romancing the Stone. The setting/premise was a refreshing addition to the rom-com genre, but the romance itself wasn‘t anything special. It was hard to take the professional/archeology plot line too seriously when the love interests were constantly thinking about how hot each other was (from the first moment they reunite at the dig).
I couldn't resist picking these ones up! The covers are so fun! #bookhaul
Jo Segura in conversion with Anastasia Ryan tonight at Gathering Volumes!
