Good of course, but the least memorable from the series I‘d say

I mean who doesn‘t love a good book quote 📚📖🤓😏
#SassyBookworm😏 #SheReadsShesHome 🥰
“Sometimes she listened to the radio, if there was an opera or drama, or if she just wanted to hear a human voice. The big old radio gave off an odor like rancid hair tonic. It reminded her of a nervous salesman. And it made a sullen hiss and sputter if she moved away from it. It was the kind of bad companion loneliness makes welcome.”
1. I‘m in the process of moving into my 9th. I‘m downsizing to an inner city apartment. My original home was a farm called ‘Nianbah‘ on the edge of the Oz outback. 2. The home I‘m moving out of, due to its view of dolphins nearly every day & the sauna & spa downstairs. 3. A cup of tea or glass of Shiraz & a stretch on the floor while reading. Going on a big walk. Op shopping. Sun baking & swimming. @Eggs #wonderouswednesday #ThursdayinAustralia
This is the second book in the Gilead series. I liked the first one but I loved this! Jack Boughton is such an interesting character. I also really liked Glory. I find these books so thoughtful and beautiful. I was almost in tears at times. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Just started Book 2 of the Gilead series. I love Robinson's writing. Only 50 pages in and I've already cried twice.

4⭐
A well written book about family. This is a second book, following 'Gilead', but is definitely a stand alone too. If you enjoy well written sentences, telling the simple story of a prodigal son,set in the 50s in a small town in Iowa, you will enjoy. An intimate portrait of a family struggling with mistakes and with change
Day 1 - #home #quotsymay19
This book was a bit slow getting into but after a bit I really came to care for the characters. A great representation of what home means to people.
Started the second in the Gilead series. I hope that I remember what happened in the first.
'Weary or bitter of bewildered as we may be, God is faithful. He lets us wander so we will know what it means to come home.'
Holiday travelling companion. This is one of those books that digs into the corners of your heart in the most painful, beautiful ways.
Just as mesmerising as Gilead! I adored Glory as a narrator, and the style was just as perfect as I remembered, and the characters and world just as rich and complex. I was worried this would feel like a let down after loving Gilead so much and waiting so long to read this one but it was just perfect.
Lunchtime reading 💖💖💖 I love my job but I also love my quiet times for reading in the middle. Home is a perfect novel to read in a quiet moment resting your brain after a meeting
I just picked this one up from the library today and can‘t wait to read it. I adored hearing Marilynne Robinson today and Gilead was one of the best books I‘ve ever read so I can‘t wait for this one
We made it home from our trip to the mountains, and a nice cold front had moved in. As you can see, the fur-children have already been playing and the hubs built me a fire & is relaxing, and I‘m sipping my cup of lavender earl grey & watching it.
While I prefer Housekeeping, this book was heartbreakingly human. The prodigal son returns and with him all the regret, relief, guilt, forgiveness, love, and loss. I did have a slight issue with the style of this one, & if one more person said sorry I was gonna lose it...but I felt for these characters and their plights and that‘s what counts. I‘d like to be updated about Glory someday. 😊 141/1,001 #1001Books
Totally lost track of my reading for a couple of months....
...because we moved house! These are just the boxes of books 🙀🙀🙀
Ah, this book! I loved it so much. There's always a sense of melancholy in Ms Robinson's writing, especially when she touches tough topics. Her writing is sublime and it gives a new poetic dimension to the prodigal son trope. She also approaches themes like forgiveness, love and just being human in a compassionate way, without softening the mundane realities of human life. It utterly moved me and it will stay for a while with me.
My local library had a book sale today and I might have gone a little overboard. ? Again. ? But I'm excited about these, especially "Home". Can't wait to read them. ??
Marilynne Robinson writes some amazingly complex, realistic characters. Maybe it‘s because I‘m from small town Iowa, and that‘s where these stories are set, but I can so easily understand and even recognize people I have known and loved in these books. Home was much more emotionally powerful and sad than Gilead, but so real and moving. This is not a plot-driven book, but a slow study of family, love, and healing. ❤️

It was a cold, Iowa not-quite-spring day for my
#audiowalk listening to a story about Iowa summer days. ❤️

For Christmas, this bookworm got a new bookshelf. It‘s a smaller (narrower) one for my bedroom, and I‘ve moved all the books over, which I want to get to ASAP. Normally I‘m pretty particular about organization, but this shelf I purposely randomized so that I‘d pick up any and all shelved. HOME is one, I‘ll be reading soon, since it‘s the first one. #home #strangershores #readathon @24in48
I'd definitely recommend reading this next installment soon after Gilead. For me, I enjoyed this second part more than Gilead; I felt it had more depth and I empathised with the characters much more. Cemented my respect for Ms Robinson and I look forward to the third part, Lila, but I'm taking a break from these for now. There's a lot to reflect on and savour with this one.
She does it again. Robinson has a way of delving so deep into her characters--their thoughts, grievances, desires, kindnesses, hopes. It's heartbreaking and beautiful. This is the third book of the Gilead series, and they were all phenomenal.
1. Taken from the entrance of my subdivision last month.
2. 12 years in this house now
3. Breakfast burrito, but I usually just have a chai
4. Bedtime...but I sneak it in whenever I can
5. 3 pets - a lab/newfie mix, an old gray tabby cat, and a leopard gecko. #friYAYinfo
#AprilBookShowers Day 13 - Sequel Please
I doubt that it will ever come to fruition, but I desperately want the next companion novel in the Gilead series to be about Reverend Boughton's son Jack. We are given snippets of his life, but I want to know more, especially how he spent his adult life after fleeing town in shame and returning with an African American wife and son.
Lovely prose, complicated characters and civil rights - girl can dream!
Finally. Finally I can get to this. I can admit that I fear I won't love it as much as Gilead which stupid-explains why it has taken me years (whoa, my purchase note says 2014?!)

Just finished this lovely book! Can't wait to read the last one in this series!
Wow. This book is still resonating with me days later. Haunting powerful sad lovely--all adjectives that apply for me but don't encompass the novel. An awesome (in the old school usage) depiction of how we fail each other and keep loving and hoping despite it. One of 2016's best reads for me.
Which book should I pick up first?
