This book was a bit slow getting into but after a bit I really came to care for the characters. A great representation of what home means to people.

Started the second in the Gilead series. I hope that I remember what happened in the first.

Bird Box: A Novel | Josh Malerman

Just starting my Halloween read. I've heard great things about it. Hoping to be scared silly!

RaimeyGallant The movie was pretty great. Wish I'd known it was based on a book before I watched it! 6y
Jcunning I haven‘t gotten around to seeing the movie yet. Am looking forward to watching it soon. 6y

I just finished this book for book club. I found it to be an enjoyable read about early 1900s Vaudeville. The fact that some of it took place in my hometown of Binghamton was an added bonus.

A beautiful fall day in which to read a new book on the deck.

Mehso-so

I found this book pretty slow going at the beginning. She uses the same back and forth structure that she used in Big Little Lies. In this book, I found it kind of annoying. The second half of the book was much better.

KathyWheeler I also think she took far too long to get to what actually happened. 6y

My current read for book club. I'm finding that the back and forth structure is the same as it was for Big Little Lies. Is this a thing with her?

Jess7 Yes it's her style. Although I will say that as much as I wanted to be into this one - I just wasn't. I thought it was anti-climactic. The big reveal at the BBQ was like oh, meh, to me. Then there was still over a 100 pages or more left in the book. I enjoyed the first half but I just wasn't a fan of the second half. (edited) 7y
Jcunning Thanks for the info. I have heard mixed reviews about this one 7y

Finished this mystery. Found it interesting and easy to follow, but difficult to solve.

Jess7 What is a page turner or a slow starter? This book is on my to read list. 8y

I'm not always as appreciative of poetry as I wish, but I find Mary Oliver to be very accessible, which helps me appreciate it more.

Just finished this easy read. Good book to be reading during the last few weeks while the US Open was going on.
