Finished Timeline this morning! Such a good read. Interesting, detailed and fast paced, it kept my interest throughout. I loved the Middle Ages for the setting and the characters were all well rounded and developed! Would definitely recommend!

Took me a while to get through this one as we‘ve just moved house!

Totally different from Jurassic park - I didn‘t absolutely love it but I didn‘t hate it either, time travel with a touristy type twist, historians getting stuck in the 1300s, I suppose it was quite forward for when it was written!

1. Tagged! I think this is the first time travel story I remember reading.
2. For me, it either needs to make perfect sense or not be explained at all.
3. Both? I like stories where, no matter what the characters do, they end up at the same ending. But I also appreciate people traveling in time to fix something catastrophic that they won‘t be able to see.

Day 29: The Invisible Man

I‘ve finally started on my bookshelves! Planning to tackle all the random finds I‘ve picked up over the years. I hope to donate as I read so I can make more space.

#wanderingjune @Cinfhen @BarbaraBB In Timeline, the characters get #lostinfrance and lost in time, as they go back to 14th century France and need to fight to make it back alive.

Sometimes I just need a little action in my life. Currently living vicariously through this scifi thriller (but also thankful this technology doesn't exist)

3/5⭐ One of Crichton's better books, at least if you ignore the vast amounts of infodumping (in both narrative and dialogue). I probably enjoyed this one because the novelty of traveling back in time to a historical period of academic interest speaks to me. #OWLsReadathon2019

This was a mood read and conveniently fits #BooktoMovie for #Booked2019. This was a classic Michael Crichton - barely believable, suspenseful, thrilling, and just plain fun. There‘s some silliness that would pop me out of the story now and then, but otherwise a fun read. And now I must see the movie!! 3.5 stars.

This was brilliant. Was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Love the count down timer and the switching between the characters as narrators! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I am soooo enjoying this book and do not want to put it down...but it is already 01h00 in the morning and today is a working day...

I read this years ago, after my daughter, who is not an avid reader, finished it and recommended it to me. Fast paced. Time travel adventure. #timewarp #musicalnewyear

I didn‘t get to read very much at all today, so here is my #24B4Monday total this time around 🤷🏻‍♀️

Had some pretty successful book hauls this last week from goodwill and the Arc. A couple Anne Rice‘s for my collection and another copy of my favorite the Mummy for loaning out! I‘ve been looking everywhere for a cheap copy of Fahrenheit 451 !! And I admit it I have never read To Kill A Mockingbird! @ErinSueG bought it for me!
I had no idea Timeline was a book! It‘s a favorite movie of mine if you haven‘t watched it do it!

A friend generously loaned me one of her favorite books, the tagged one, & I have to say I quite enjoyed this vintage Crichton. It definitely has a Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur‘s Court vibe to it. Archaeologists excavating a site in France, on behalf of a crazy rich, very eccentric patron, get sent back in time & have to survive long enough arrangements can be made to get them back home. Archaeology + time travel = a fun weekend read.

Tired of reading fiction about the “world wars”, and wars between Finland and Russia. Too much is too much. There are other significant times in the history of our globe.

So my blurb about not liking this book was true for the first half but the second half was much better. I have given it so-so rating here and 3 stars on Goodreads.

I'm about 30% through this book now. I don't really understand how some authors can become so famous for average writing skills! I have read so many books that are way better tban average from authors that are mostly unknown by the "experts and the media"., and very few from big time authors! I will probably finish it but will pass on his others unless the price is really good.

A future with technology that allows us to travel back in time - fun stuff!

Please excuse all my May Challenges catch-up; it‘s been a rough week in the remaining life of my elderly Beagle😕

Decided to do a reread of my favorite Michael Crichton novel, since it's been several years. This is one of those rare books I never seem to tire of reading.

The story is compelling, characters likeable, and the action moves along at a good pace. I confess I don't even have any little nitpicks on this one. I love it just as it is.

This book was awesome. I had heart palpitations by the end of it in anticipation of what would happen. There is definitely a formula to Crichton‘s writing style; particularly dealing with the hubris of eccentric rich men with a passion that pushes the envelope, and ultimately bites them in the ass. The formula that Crichton has created works brilliantly here. A fantastic blend of science, history & philosophy.

Another fun and exciting read by Crichton. 4 historians end up traveling back in time to the year 1357 and have to battle their way back home. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Yesterday‘s theme for #NoteworthyNovember was #time. I ran out of time to consider and post because I joined another book club. 😄 I‘m making up for it with this awesome timey word. I love Word Vintage!

New favorite shirt.

This is a fun read about modern-day historians who "travel" to 14th-century France to retrieve their Professor, who is trapped there. It's so interesting to consider how a person from today would survive in such a different world. Thank you again, @JackieSmith , for sending me this swashbuckling historical adventure in our #CupidGoesPostal book exchange! I enjoyed it very much! ?

Celebrating the official beginning of my summer 😎🍹.

I found this time-travel book a slow burn for a while. But once grad students Andre, Kate, and Chris transport to medieval France to find their mentor, battling knights and brigands along the way, the action is cinematic-nonstop. This is a little glib and not as absorbing as I would have preferred, but if you like to imagine yourself in the Age of Chivalry, you'll enjoy it. 🏹⚔️🏰

Catching up on #riotgrams Day 3 #OneWordTitles my pick is Timeline by Michael Crichton. But a close second would've been Carl Sagan's Contact. I'm not a huge #SciFi fan but these were some good reads. And pictured are a few more of my one word books.

Maybe I was just burned out after reading nearly 1,500 pages of airport novels before starting this one. Maybe I've seen too many 'modern day characters in medieval times' episodes of Doctor Who for the idea to seem fresh. Whatever the reason, I struggled with this book more than any other in a very long time. But I stayed up late last night just to say I finished it before my vacation was technically over. ⭐️1/2
