@alisiakae is totally right. There is SO MUCH fat shaming in this book. A mother talking about her daughter who just had a baby. The daughter is estranged from her husband, and an old flame wants to go out with her.

#ChildhoodSweethearts Ansley and Jack meet again after decades apart in 'Slightly South of Simple' and their story continues through the rest of the trilogy amidst the shnannagins of Ansley's daughters.

I love her books and they only come in paperback!

So I just finished this sweet series. If you like stories containing love, secrets, health scares, jilted bride at the alter and babies then this is a series for you. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. **Book 1**
This was the first book I had read by this author. I quickly read this one and the next in the series. Definitely recommend.
I can‘t find the tagged book 📚 I may have given it away 🤷♀️ but I love this author and her cover and settings are always #Serene 💛

I didn‘t hate it, but I didn‘t love it either. There are three daughters and a mother, but for all the attention paid to Sloan and Emerson, they could have been left out all together as the focus was on the older sister, Caroline, and the mother, Ansley. I might listen to the other two if I need something light, but I won‘t be rushing to get them. I also don‘t recall any of them ever even walking on the beach, in contrast to this cover.
Should be finished with this book soon. I‘m not able to walk as far as I could at the beginning of July; I guess being sick for so long took that out of me. I‘m having to build my distance back up again. The pictures are my university‘s campus, while the top left is where I want to be right now. #audiowalk
I went to the botanical gardens today, and there was no one there but me. It was heaven. 😊 Those white flowers at the top smelled lovely, and I saw a rabbit. That‘s the first time I‘ve ever seen an animal there other than the Garden‘s cats. I still hate Caroline in this book — I hope she grows and changes. If not, I may not read the other two books about this family. #audiowalk
I got to walk this evening, and enjoyed it so much that I forgot to take pictures. Although it was warm, I went around 6:00pm, and there was a nice breeze. I also did Qi Gong (similar to Tai Chi) with my husband. The plant is my coleus that I thought had died when my daughter repotted it while I was sick. It looked quite sickly the last time I saw it. Not so now! It‘s spread out. #audiowalk
Finished another #bookspinbonanza right before midnight last night!
I have mixed feelings about this one. It definitely wasn‘t the right book for my reading mood at the moment, which may influence how I feel. The fat shaming in the story was problematic for me, and there was a lot of it. It‘s VERY Southern, also not always my cup of tea. But the beach setting was nice, and Harvey is a skilled writer.
✔️ off 10 books for #bookspin this month!
Still trying to get in one more book for #bookspinbonanza. 80 pages to go!
Instead of reading, I spent the afternoon protesting and marching in solidarity with my black and brown friends here in Charlotte. It was my first time out in a group of people since March. Everyone wore masks and socially distanced (for the most part). Solidarity in the time of Covid19. ✊🏽
Change of pace reading! I‘m not sure if I‘ll end up liking this book, but it fits my mood tonight!

This was a sweet book. I have the second one in the series. Looking forward to reading it.
Highly recommend. This is a story about sisters and relationships between. This is the first in a trilogy. Caroline is 7 months pregnant when her husband leaves her for a 20 yr old super model. She goes home to stay with her mother in Peachtree Bluff. The story goes back and forth between the past and present. I loved these characters.
Trying to enjoy the last few weeks of summer - sorting treasures, drinking coffee and reading!
Her books always make me think of 🌞🌞🌞 I need the 3rd one in this series!

Finishing this one up this morning. I could listen to Ansley all day! This Wisconsin girl is convinced she should have been born into a small southern town like Peachtree Bluff. Can‘t wait to continue on with this story.
"...The butterflies make you feel giddy and alive, and that‘s sweet. But it‘s what happens after that really matters. It‘s the time you realize that your love has grown exponentially since that first day, when you discover that being someone‘s wife, being in it for the long haul, having someone there beside you day in and day out, is so much better than any roses on Valentine‘s day or any first-date-jitters you could ever have."

I really enjoyed this book. It was exactly what I needed to ease me into summer. I love stories set in the south, as well as stories that focus on mother daughter relationships. In the past, I have struggled when 9/11 is used as a part of the story- I STILL have a hard time with the anniversary of that day. But in this book, while it was important to the overall story, it was discussed in such a way that didn‘t take away from everything else. 👇
Y‘all, this story had me wanting more, more, more. Good thing I have the second book of the Peachtree Bluff novels. The characters become people you feel like you know! It is about past secrets, loss, love but most of all about family. The true meaning of family is clearly reflected in this southern novel.
First couple chapters have sucked me right in 🕶
4⭐️ Slightly South of Simple explores the unique bonds between sisters, and between mothers and their daughters. It‘s about the people that are there for you when times get tough, and the sacrifices we make for family. The setting in Peachtree Bluff is enchanting and delightful. https://lharvey250.tumblr.com/post/172794045959/slightly-south-of-simple-peachtr...

Excellent read with quirky characters who are real, relatable, and flawed.
What I most like about Kristy Woodson Harvey‘s books is that her characters live in the shades of gray that are not always socially acceptable, but are authentic.
Kristen Woodson Harvey not only is beautiful....she is so freaking nice
Next up! Kristy Woodson Harvey she is adorable! #literacyiskey
Simon and Schuster picked up my blog post. Yippeeee. You can read it here

I loved this book! I'm hoping it's the beginning of at least a trilogy because the ending just felt a little unfinished.
Starting this tonight. Need something with less (or NO) ick factor after my last read!
Pure enjoyment to read! I wasn't ready for the story to end and as luck would have is written as part of a new series-- The Peachtree Bluff Novels.
OK... so now I've decided I really *NEED* her other books too👌🏻😬😬😬 #kristywoodsonharvey #peachtreebluffnovel
Friday night read 📚
Hoping to finish this one today! A great book about the bonds between mothers, daughters and sisters and a few secrets!
Hoping to finish this one today! A great book about the bonds between mothers, daughters and sisters and a few secrets!
Starting this one before bedtime!! I have everything I need to go to sleep... book, tea, chapstick and a snoring husband 😳😤😡
Just ordered this! Loved her other books!! Anyone else read her books?!
I rarely buy books new anymore but today felt like it so I picked these up at Tarjay 😁
This was such a good read! Amazing writing and great characters. I don't read a lot of women's fiction. When I really love a book in this category then I know it's a very special book. This is a great spring read and I highly recommend it to everyone! I can't wait for the follow ups in this series.
