Eight Perfect Hours
Eight Perfect Hours: A Novel | Lia Louis
I read Eight Perfect Hours in one sitting, in four perfect hours, because I couldnt bear to put it down without knowing the ending. Lia Louis has become a must-buy author for me. Jodi Picoult, #1 New York Times bestselling author In this romantic and heartwarming novel, two strangers meet in chance circumstances during a blizzard and spend one perfect evening together, thinking theyll never see each other again. But fate seems to have different plans. From the acclaimed author of the swoon-worthyrom-com (The Washington Post) Dear Emmie Blue. On a snowy evening in March, thirty-something Noelle Butterby is on her way back from an event at her old college when disaster strikes. With a blizzard closing off roads, she finds herself stranded, alone in her car, without food, drink, or a working charger for her phone. All seems lost until Sam Attwood, a handsome American stranger also trapped in a nearby car, knocks on her window and offers assistance. What follows is eight perfect hours together, until morning arrives and the roads finally clear. The two strangers part, positive theyll never see each other again but fate, it seems, has a different plan. As the two keep serendipitously bumping into one another, they begin to realize that perhaps there truly is no such thing as coincidence. With plenty of charming twists and turns and Lia Louiss bold, standout voice (Gillian McAllister, author of The Good Sister), Eight Perfect Hours is a gorgeously crafted novel that will make you believe in the power of fate.

Wow, this was a late late reading for #LittensLoveRomance (book was assigned in November 2023😳) @Staycurious That will happen a lot with me. I buy the books, but I‘m a slow reader🤷🏽‍♀️I read the book discussion post

This book for me was okay. If you like hallmark style of second chance romances, you might like or enjoy this one. A lot of coincidences, too much, the romance was Immature but cute. Slow pace reading. I liked⬇️

Gissy (Cont.)...Liked Noelle‘s introspection, her self talking to analyze her emotions. She was insecure, trying to heal her friend‘s death, and dealing with some family drama, justify or not but almost a co-dependent relationship which turns it dysfunctional for the presence of guilt if you don‘t respond. There are other situations also happening to Sam. They were experiences hard to heal more when they occurred in those ages.⬇️ 11mo
Gissy (Cont.) In addition, there are some ex‘s that were manipulators🙄but when there is guilt, insecurity...you will feel attach to those relations. They could take time to make those closures. So well that both resolved it...not a spoiler, this is an almost hallmark story...happy end occurred to everyone😂 3/3.4⭐️ 11mo

I really loved this holiday romance. Two strangers stranded on a highway in a snowstorm spend eight perfect hours together, never thinking they'll see one another again. But fate keeps throwing them together. It reminded me of the feelings I had while reading Ghosted, which I loved.

First #SnowedIn finish. A sweet winter romance. And yes, there was a breath released that she had no idea she was holding. 😂 My second was Snow Country. It‘s quite short but I am not enjoying it so it‘s a DNF. Now reading A Season for Second Chances.

Also, watched our team movie yesterday. #SantaBookshELVES. #WinterGames

This was cute, even though the characters were frustrating sometimes 😅 I love the concept of the red string of fate and all the little moments they discovered made me happy. It also made me want to watch 'Serendipity' again lol
Soft pick for me, just because I hated watching Noelle get bulldozed so much by her family and ex.

#LittensLoveRomance Ch.37.38: Noelle opens up her flower stall! So great for her! And everyone shows up which means she is not alone, not at all. And she finally gets to see what‘s on the camera - nothing incriminating, nothing to feel sad about - not anymore. Oh and a picture of her future. Her future being Sam. How great is that!? ⬇️

StayCurious I really liked this book and all the twists (some of them imagined by me haha) and turns and serendipitous moments. It really makes you think about life, about loss, and about moving forward. 13mo

#LittensLoveRomance Ch.34-35-36: Sigh…what a nice Sam and Noelle beginning even though technically their story began years earlier. I think speaking about their loss to each other and sharing in it really started the healing process. And he knows just what she needs - I can‘t see Ed ever urging on her green thumb - but Sam gives her an allotment. So sweet! I had to keep reading and finished last night but I‘ll do final post tomorrow 💜

What I liked about this book:
~ the concept of a red string, connecting people, and finally finding their way together
~ How the author approached, postpartum depression, and other mental health issues, such as anxiety
~ Noelle‘s completely dysfunctional family

What I did not like:
~ just how immature emotionally Noelle was for her age
~ how she did not seem to really SEE how stuck she was
~ overall frustration with her character& others

kspenmoll I fluctuated between So-So & Pan, but I went with Pan because I would never recommend the book. I did not have time to take part in discussions; maybe that would make me see the novel in a different light. 13mo
mcctrish Sometimes I wonder if the pacing of the buddy reads makes me enjoy the books more because I don‘t stop reading when I want to but when I have to. I was perplexed by Noelle and her ‘stuckness‘ until I read about her hospital stay. Then she made more sense to me - hospitalized depression and functioning depression are 2 different things and she had to make her way through both to come out the other side imo 13mo
kspenmoll @mcctrish What you say is so true about hospitalized depression, and functioning depression. I feel like I read too quickly & superficially trying to catch up with everybody which didn‘t really work. Buddy reads do pace us( which i did not do) & also I always benefit so much from the group discussions, which again I did not join in this time. 13mo
LiseWorks I am doing the buddy read and am enjoying this book a lot. I love the discussion and with the group, with perspectives i may not see. I feel like the characters are stuck because of guilt that they survived and couldn't really get over the trauma. Do t forget they were all so young when the tragedy happened. 13mo
kspenmoll @LiseWorks thanks for your insight. Though I did not participate in the discussions & read quickly, by doing that It sounds like I missed much. Hearing these different perspectives points out what I missed in rushing to catch up. @mcctrish (edited) 13mo

#LittensLoveRomance 31-32-33: Boy oh boy, the hits just keep on coming. Poor Noelle and poor Sam. How will they work through this discovery? At least Noelle‘s family is finally making strides and pushing her forward instead of holding her back. I do feel though that Dilly should have admitted to his part in putting extra strain on her by being such a screw up. ⬇️

StayCurious Still it was good to see her mom really trying. Thanks in large part to Ian. Can‘t wait to read more! 13mo

julieclair I agree that it was good to see her mom making an effort. Ian seems like such a nice guy, and is obviously a good influence on the mom. 13mo
mcctrish I have been waiting for this shoe to drop, I knew I was wrong about Jenna and Ed but this had to be a connection except I thought they died in the crash together so I couldn‘t figure out Sam‘s connection. How heartbreaking that Lee survived but couldn‘t 💔😢 13mo
CogsOfEncouragement And Frank being sweet to Noelle too. 📦📦📦 13mo
willaful Oh, I think I didn't put together all the pieces here. So Lee survived the crash and then killed himself?

It was really hard to stop reading because it seems like this was a very upsetting revelation to Noelle and things are going to blow up between them and I don't entirely understand why.

This was a reread for me for #LittensLoveRomance. I read it 2 years ago and still stand by my original review - it‘s just okay and the MC is a doormat for most of the book, which makes it hard for me to root for her. But, the ending is hopeful, so that‘s something! It was fun to discuss with the group, though.

#LittensLoveRomance Ch.28.29.30: ugh, I was hoping for a big scene with Ed, Noelle and his Girlfriend. Damn. They had to go and be mature haha! Screw Ed for being a jerk and being dishonest - Noelle should have thrown a drink in his face like Charlie suggested. Well at least this will get Noelle to move on. Perhaps with Sam.

BarkingMadRead Ugh why was I so surprised? His mom is a nightmare, Noelle is better off without him 13mo
mcctrish Honestly I thought it was going to be Ed and Jenna with all this subterfuge which would have been insane but totally on brand with the Noelle and Sam connection 13mo

mcctrish @StayCurious @OriginalCyn620 I‘m in my only a limited number of characters in a book era right now 🤣🤣🤣 13mo
LiseWorks I could see Ed's point. He was Ted to make sure about his feelings for Noelle. I think k he could have been more up front, though. Oh, I hated his mom. I think he also didn't really like her if I'm not mistaken by stuff he said at the beginning of the book? 13mo
LiseWorks The word Ted is actually tried. Stupid phone 13mo

#LittensLoveRomance I love how much discussion this month‘s book is generating! Ch.25.26.27: What are the odds? They‘re magical, is what they are. And unfortunately Noelle is there at the hotel with Ed, not Sam. Ed the ped. I can‘t stand him! But Sam finds her and they talk and they kiss and it‘s wonderful, but of course they‘ll both feel horribly guilty about it because they‘re good people and - Noelle especially - overthinks everything. Sigh.

BarkingMadRead Ed is the total worst. He came to “help” and won‘t actually help?!? And of course Sam is there, it‘s their thing! I love it. They need to get together and forget about Ed and Jenna! 13mo

#LittensLoveRomance 22.23.24: why doesn‘t Sam want to believe in the fate that keeps bringing him and Noelle together? He‘s so reluctant to admit something meaningful is happening. And boy - I get where Ed is coming from but he‘s not handling it well at all. Neither is Noelle though. Ugh. I‘m so torn as to how I feel about her, her mother, Ed and everything in between. I know exactly how I feel about Dilly though. What a (insert expletive here).

Graciouswarriorprincess I agree about Dilly. I don't understand Sam's reluctance. Maybe he's afraid but there is more to his story. Ed is just a (blank) too sometimes! 13mo
LiseWorks Dilly has no sense of responsibility. Ed makes me angry. He should go and watch Noelle s mom. I know he gets frustrated with her, but sometimes you have to see it her way too. I am jumping and screaming, "Don't get off that train." 13mo
See All 11 Comments
BarkingMadRead Dilly makes me nuts and I really wanted Noelle to tell Ed to F off. Sam would have done it for her 🤷🏻‍♀️ ugh Sam needs to figure out his ish so he can back to Noelle, I‘m hoping that they hook up in Edinburgh 13mo
Read4life I agree with everything you said @BarkingMadRead 13mo
OriginalCyn620 Gonna be honest, my favorite characters are Charlie and Theo. The rest are kinda awful 🤣 13mo
OriginalCyn620 @StayCurious I always love a Keanu reference, so kudos to you! 🤣 13mo
willaful It's good to get some of the background on why Noelle is sacrificing so much for her mom.

I think Ed is a @#$%@#$%! I do get where he's coming from, but Noelle is completely freaking out on a train, while going to a vital event! If he really loved her, he wouldn't put here through that hell.

And he's totally lying to her about there not being anyone important. Not that he didn't have every right to date, but he's lying.
13mo
CogsOfEncouragement @willafull i agree Ed‘s lying about a few things 13mo
CogsOfEncouragement Relatable: of course it was someone pretending to be a god-fearing soldier needing a good wife. Awe, my fav: as always when Sam and I are together we talk about everything and nothing. Yes, Dilly IS an idiot all together. Well put Estelle. WHY did that man-child call Noelle? grrr And can we just dump Ed? You can be right in the worst possible way. Ian to the rescue! As he knew he‘d have to be with Useless relied upon for the simplest thing. 13mo
mcctrish Ed is a tosser. If he loves, he does what Noelle needs him to do, sit with her mom so she can go to Edinburgh - NOT whine about missing a shag. Dilly is a train wreck himself #thankgodforian 13mo

#LittensLoveRomance Ch.19.20.21: Here are some theories: what if Lee was Sam‘s cousin? What if the key chain was Sam‘s? What if Ed was having an affair and the incriminating picture is on Daisy‘s camera? Hmm? What if Sam and Noelle are meant to be? It certainly seems as though the universe is trying to tell them something. At a certain point, they have to listen! Also, I‘m glad Noelle is doing the wedding flowers. It‘s about time.

BarkingMadRead Omg I had all of those thoughts as well! The fact that they were both in Oregon is too coincidental, and there must be something in that camera that is suspect or he wouldn‘t want it. That could be why he was so distracted at the reunion. And that key chain?!? Come on, what are the odds?!! 13mo
Graciouswarriorprincess I don‘t like Ed. Something is wrong there and I don‘t want to see Noelle hurt by him. The key chain is cool and I wonder if it‘s Sam‘s! And I am so happy that she is doing the wedding! Finally! 13mo
See All 9 Comments
Read4life Ed isn‘t trustworthy. Very shady. I‘m also happy Noelle is finally doing flowers for a wedding. I believe the keychain is Sam‘s and they‘re meant to be together. 13mo
mcctrish These were some eye opening chapters! I loved that Noelle could help Charlie and the coincidences keep piling up for Sam and Noelle - the Lee/Sam possibility is crazy but it‘s not completely bonkers - Sam and Noelle could totally have been almost in contact with each other back in the day and now is their moment. Something is up with Ed and it can not be good - the boxes weren‘t ticked for a reason! And yay for N‘s mom pushing her to do the flower 13mo
CogsOfEncouragement I‘m convinced the keychain is the one he lost. lol I hate to say it but I‘m concerned that things won‘t be okay at home when Noelle leaves for the wedding. BUT hope that everyone will see she is not the only one who can handle such problems. 13mo
peanutnine @CogsOfEncouragement I had the same thought, I worry something will hold up Dilly getting home after she's already left! ? Also I didn't make the Lee/Sam connection but I love that idea! Makes sense. And yes, Ed is shady. And an asshole with his "bluntness" 13mo
LiseWorks I'd do think it was Ed who asked about the camera because he had an affair with Daisy. It is Sam's key chain. There is going to be a disaster with her Mom because of Dilly. Sam will probably come to the rescue with that though. They are so much alike they really understand each other. 13mo
OriginalCyn620 Love all these theories! So glad Noelle gets to do the wedding though. Good for her! 13mo

#LittensLoveRomance Ch.16.17.18: Poor Noelle is stuck in time. It seems as though nearly dying in the crash that killed Daisy was such a shock that she never really moved on from it. She‘s stuck in the past and clings to what she is familiar with. Which is her mother, her job, and even Ed. She‘s too afraid to move forward - take her florist course, move away from home. Become who she was meant to be. Will Sam help her with that? Will she let him?

OriginalCyn620 I think you‘re exactly right @StayCurious but I‘m rooting for her! 13mo
CogsOfEncouragement I‘m rooting for her too! Good has to come from this, right? - “And now, it‘s just us. Me and Waxwork Frank. A match made in the fiery pits of hell.” 13mo

LiseWorks Losing someone so young leaves a scar and a kind of survival guilt. I think this is what she has. Sam will get her out of this, I am sure. But he has his own issues. 13mo
Graciouswarriorprincess I‘m rooting for her! This is so hard for her as she has a lot of guilt but feel like good things will come her way! 13mo
willaful I'm curious about the man who asked after the camera. Is there some mystery going on? There's definitely a mystery going on with Charlie... 13mo
StayCurious @willaful do we think there‘s some kind of incriminating picture? Was Ed messing around with Daisy behind Noelle‘s back and he doesn‘t want her to know? 13mo
willaful @StayCurious I'm hoping not, because I'd much rather have a genuine decision on her part rather than a “he actually sucked so I'm going for the other guy“ situation. And also that would make Daisy a terrible friend and poor Noelle really doesn't deserve that!

I think it's interesting that her first thought went to the other guy who died, who I don't think we've heard of before? I think there's more backstory...

#LittensLoveRomance 13.14.15: Ok, now it can‘t just be coincidence that Sam and Noelle keep meeting. Now I‘m starting to believe. I mean what are the odds? But how awkward when she thinks he threw away her number? Should she mention it to him? God, would you? Or would you keep quiet? Also, I hate her brother and I‘m starting to resent her mother. They just expect so much of Noelle. ⬇️

StayCurious But does she enable them by constantly going along with their demands? And what is Charlie Wild up to? 13mo
LiseWorks I really wish Noelle would stop thinking about the past. And have the gumption to speak up for herself? Stop thinking about Ed and what they had. He left. He didn't stick around. Move on! 13mo

BarkingMadRead I‘m so frustrated with her family. They 💯 take advantage of her, and it‘s probably not helpful that she allows it! I can‘t wait to find out what happens with Sam! And I really hope Charlie is just going through a temporary crisis! 13mo
OriginalCyn620 Noelle definitely needs to speak up for herself and not be so much of a doormat. 13mo
Kshakal 100% agree that noelle needs to stick up for herself 13mo
willaful Love the moon pic!

I'm with everyone else, very frustrated with her family and also with her for putting up with it. I'm hoping for a really good growth arc for her.

peanutnine I agree with everyone here, it is so heartbreaking that precious Dilly gets to follow his dream but Noelle is stuck in a rut from all the pressure her mom puts on her. I hope Ian notices, he seems perceptive and might have a sway on her mom 13mo
julieclair I agree with everyone. Noelle‘s family constantly takes advantage of her, and she allows it. About Charlie… I‘m worried she has had a serious diagnosis and doesn‘t want to share it. 13mo
mcctrish I‘m laughing at myself struggling to count to 3 for each day and amazed with the cliffhanger with each read 😱 I haven‘t changed my opinion on Dilly and Belinda 👎🏻👎🏻 I want Noelle to open her flower shop 13mo
CogsOfEncouragement Can‘t wait for the next chapters! 13mo
peanutnine @julieclair oh I hope it's not anything like that, I hope like @BarkingMadRead said, Charlie is just having a mini life crisis - and hopefully she'll talk to her husband soon, he seems so sweet! 13mo
kspenmoll @mcctrish same- I do not like Belinda or Dilly. Totally selfish. Noelle just seems to see no way out of her tole with them, but she could do it. It‘s like she is conditioned. I want her to break free & have her florist shop. I too hope Charlie is ok @julieclair 13mo
kspenmoll I just hot my book yesterday but have caught up! 13mo
mcctrish @kspenmoll 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 13mo
BethM She totally enables them bc as @OriginalCyn620 said she‘s a doormat. I really struggle with female characters like her bc they make me angry quite frankly. So no surprise I‘d totally confront him about the number. 13mo
StayCurious @BethM she makes me angry too…but she‘s also a bit relatable I think. To me anyway. I can see myself doing some of what holds her back. 13mo
OriginalCyn620 @StayCurious @BethM I see what Renee means about Noelle being relatable. Only a daughter would feel such guilt and obligation to put her life completely on hold like Noelle has done. It‘s rare to see a man feel that way, whether real or fictional. And yes, I still think Noelle is a doormat, but she‘s certainly not alone in that. Frankly, that‘s what makes me angry! 13mo

#LittensLoveRomance Sorry for the late post, I‘ve been having some issues opening Litsy - hopefully it‘s working now! I will post again later this evening to keep us all caught up. 10-11-12: A lot to unpack from these chapters - we learn more about Noelle‘s past, Daisy‘s death, the break with Ed, and - we see Sam again. I really wonder why he threw out Noelle‘s number. ⬇️

StayCurious Did he see her with Ed and think she was better off? Or does his life have its own complications? We learn that Noelle does have aspirations and dreams, but life and obligations are holding her back. Will she be able to break free? 13mo
KristiAhlers I really hope she can. Ugh this is such a roller-coaster of a read. 13mo

peanutnine @KristiAhlers same. It's so hard feeling obligated towards family 13mo
LiseWorks I really believe he probably put it in his phone, she may have jumped to a conclusion 13mo
OriginalCyn620 I‘m an only child, so, when the day comes, it will be all on me to care for my elderly parents. It just makes me so mad that Dilly won‘t help out! And even madder that their mother thinks the sun shines out of his butt. If her brother would help out more, Noelle might be able to do more things that she wants to do. 13mo
mcctrish @LiseWorks that‘s what I think 👏🏻👏🏻 and @OriginalCyn620 Dilly is a self centred douche bag imo ( just like his mother ) aka narcissist 13mo
BarkingMadRead My heart broke for Noelle when she found that crumpled paper! I‘m trying to think positively! 13mo
willaful @LiseWorks I was wondering if it just fell out of his pocket, but that's an even better theory. Though I suspect there is *something* holding him back.

I confess, I'm kind of hating Noelle's mom. :-(
13mo
LiseWorks @willaful the fact that it was crumpled is what made Noelle upset, and tells me he was do e with it. Either it's in his phone, a notebook, or something else. I won't believe he actually crushed it and through it out. 13mo
kspenmoll My book finally arrived. Will try to catch up! 13mo
CogsOfEncouragement So many somber bits in these chapters. I appreciate the wit sprinkled in like this tense moment broken up with the funny (yet so practical) dialogue: These sausages are beginning to defrost. You‘ll have to cook them, though, Noelle. Don‘t waste them. Do a nice casserole. A nice sausage toad. 13mo
kspenmoll @willaful I am also seeing her mom as soon as selfish- not letting Noelle get her available services that would give Noelle more time. Her brother is s spoiled brat. All about himself. 13mo

#LittensLoveRomance Ch.7-8-9: is there anything more frustrating than missed opportunities? Sam and Noelle parting without speaking up about the connection they felt is such a loss. I totally get it - I‘d have missed out too. I‘d have done the same as Noelle then kicked myself for it forever after. But man, it‘s sad. For now. The universe works in mysterious ways. Like bringing Ed back. Ick. That will spell trouble I think.

mcctrish They went out for 12 years? She wouldn‘t leave her mom and he didn‘t want to cancel their plans 🤷🏻‍♀️ I feel bad for both of them 13mo
LiseWorks I'm want Sam to come back! 13mo

willaful It's kind of a frustrating book all around! There had better be an awesome pay off. ;-) 13mo
CogsOfEncouragement I loved how Ed asked to grab coffee and Noelle responds “Bye, Ed” as she walks off. 13mo
OriginalCyn620 @CogsOfEncouragement That was awesome! 👏🏻 👏🏻👏🏻 13mo
kspenmoll @CogsOfEncouragement That was perfect! I was so happy she did that- I was afraid she‘d get caught up with Ed. 13mo

#LittensLoveRomance Ch.4-6: Well, life is full of complications. Noelle has her mom, and Sam has Jenna. And Sam lives in Oregon and Noelle never goes anywhere. But still, this is a nice night that will definitely mean something in the grand scheme of things. How often can you really say that? It‘s no wonder Noelle doesn‘t want it to end.

Graciouswarriorprincess I was hoping that Sam would say something or come knocking on her car window but no!!! I hope that they get together!! 13mo
mcctrish Who‘s Jenna and why is Sam answering his phone so nicely 😡😆 also now I‘m wondering if Ed? is still pissed at Noelle for bailing on their moving away together because she chose her mom over him ( I‘m getting STRONG Love, Actually vibes aka Sarah and Karl) 13mo

#LittensLoveRomance Ch1-3: Sad start to the book. We meet Noelle who is on her way home from her college reunion in a snow storm. She retrieved a letter from a time capsule that makes her and us very sad. I wonder what happened to Daisy. And what happened with Ed? A 12 year relationship ending with so much coldness - that‘s harsh. I mean, to not even acknowledge her from across the room? But in comes Sam, a possible ray of light through the snow⬇️

StayCurious We‘ll see - but to invite a stranger into your car b/c you see her having a meltdown? that‘s pretty nice. Also, based on the snow memes can you tell I‘m Canadian 😜 13mo
BarkingMadRead I love them both already, but poor Daisy, and also, can‘t wait to find out what happened with Ed! 13mo
See All 14 Comments
LiseWorks There is something missing from the time capsule as well. 13mo
StayCurious @LiseWorks yes, the case of the missing camera 13mo
peanutnine Yeah you would think a stranger having a meltdown would be a bigger red flag lol. Sam is brave and kind 13mo
OriginalCyn620 This is a reread for me so I‘m not gonna say much because I don‘t want to give out spoilers! But I feel so bad for Noelle that she lost Daisy. I can just feel her grief in these chapters. And also because her life is obviously a bit depressing and she‘s not completely happy. 13mo
Read4life I agree @OriginalCyn620 that her sadness and grief are strong in these chapters. 13mo
Catsandbooks Very kind of Sam to reach out to someone who is obviously having a hard time. I love the England vs Canada meme! As someone who lived in the UP of Michigan for almost 10 years and now lives in MS, it's hilarious to me how people freak out when there's any mention of snow. 😂 13mo
Graciouswarriorprincess These memes are great especially for these sad chapters. I am curious about Ed too! 13mo
peanutnine @Catsandbooks same! I'm a Pennsylvania girl living in NC now and winters are always hilarious when we get snow 13mo
mcctrish Totally forgot when we were starting this and then panicked I wouldn‘t have time and then zipped through the chapters but damn I wasn‘t ready for the grief 😢 I do want to know what happens to Daisy and Ed but I want some happy too 13mo
TheAromaofBooks Sadly, I am not going to have time to tackle this one after all this month, so you can take me off the tag list. It will just have to continue languishing on my TBR 😂 13mo

A romantic and heartwarming story. Two complete strangers meet by chance during a snowstorm on a closed motorway sat in traffic. They spend one perfect night talking honestly about love and life, they will never see each other again. But fate steps in.
A chance meeting in a hospital, serendipitously bumping into one another several times after - is there such a thing as coincidence.
Twists and turns but gorgeously crafted, do you believe in fate?

I really enjoyed this book, both lead characters were really likeable and you rooted for them for the start.
If I‘m honest, the book was not what I thought it was going to be, I thought it would be mainly about the 8 hours but it wasn‘t, that was a small part of the story.
The way the author managed to entangle Noelle and Sam lives and history was brilliant and I hadn‘t seen the twist at the end coming.

I usually only read romances once a year, Christmas time. For the warm and fuzzies. Nothing in this book made me feel warm or fuzzy. This book was just sad. About a women who let's everyone walk all over her and never goes for what she wants in her life. The characters didn't even spend enough time together for me to feel romance vibes. And the ending? That was just sad. 1/5

This is a sweet romance about two people who meet during a lengthy traffic jam in a snowstorm and continue to run into each other, connected in many ways they never imagined. It‘s light and fluffy so don‘t expect anything earth shattering but a nice book to spend time reading. I went into this thinking it was a light, fluffy read, but it‘s not. It was a bit heavier than the marketing led me to believe. The MC is wishy-washy and kind of a doormat for most of the book. It also is a bit repetitive, but, by the end, the MC comes into her own and the ending is hopeful. And I do like the idea of fate linking two people. It might make a good Netflix movie though!

#bookspinbingo - this is my #bookspin for this month

A perfect beach read for the middle of winter. A bit of a novel form of Serendipity, it is light, fun, & adorable. A bit of a slow burn romance & the plot does have it's slow moments, but it's cute & a quick read all the same. There are some less than shining characters in the mix, but there is a good redemption arc. There are also good conversations about mental health. A good & comfortable read that kept me cozy.
