Free translation: Dark is the Night
This story is two time line: in the present 2020, Sandra, a famous singer in a band, wants to take sometime for herself after her divorce with Olivia. Her manger found her a place in the peninsule coast. She goes by incognito, to this hotel called Hotel Paris. There, Sandra feels strange sensations, eerie atmosphere and hears a song. She decides to follow the song, to see where it comes from⬇️

Gissy She will found that there is a mystery attached to the hotel, the song and the village. There is also some tension in the village due to the presence of these wolves. During this process to explore the hotel, where the song comes from and her visits to the village, she will meet two journalist and a friend came to visit her. Then this friend disappeared. Everything is connected. During those actions we go back and forth to the 1920s. ⬇️ 10mo

Gissy (Cont.) In those parts during the 1920‘s we will know Candela and her secret. What happened to her? Her relation with the hotel, the village, the song and why all their is connected with Sandra. This is a paranormal/mystery with a touch of thriller. It is a long novel (600 pages) so many things happen. Let‘s say that is not a great novel because there were part of this paranormal element that I found absurd, but kept my attention.⬇️ 10mo

Gissy I liked more those past parts than the present; and there were characters in the present time that I enjoyed more than the main character🤷🏽‍♀️If you see the cover, you will see a clue.

First time I read a novel by this author. 3.5/3.8⭐️

Different reaction as an adult but full of good nostalgic memories. I liked these covers. So good to start from book 1 to remember how everything started. As I say, it was viewed from another perspective. Now I think how a middle age child will think about Nancy, who is 18 years old? Have you try these books with younger persons? Do they still read these stories in a world full of technology? Have you recommended these books to your children? ⬇️

Gissy I enjoyed the mystery and of course love Nancy as a female detective. She is 18 years old but in sometimes behave younger. So lovely the relationship she has with her father3.5⭐️

Wow, this was a late late reading for #LittensLoveRomance (book was assigned in November 2023😳) @Staycurious That will happen a lot with me. I buy the books, but I‘m a slow reader🤷🏽‍♀️I read the book discussion post

This book for me was okay. If you like hallmark style of second chance romances, you might like or enjoy this one. A lot of coincidences, too much, the romance was Immature but cute. Slow pace reading. I liked⬇️

Gissy (Cont.)...Liked Noelle‘s introspection, her self talking to analyze her emotions. She was insecure, trying to heal her friend‘s death, and dealing with some family drama, justify or not but almost a co-dependent relationship which turns it dysfunctional for the presence of guilt if you don‘t respond. There are other situations also happening to Sam. They were experiences hard to heal more when they occurred in those ages.⬇️ 10mo
Gissy (Cont.) In addition, there are some ex‘s that were manipulators🙄but when there is guilt, insecurity...you will feel attach to those relations. They could take time to make those closures. So well that both resolved it...not a spoiler, this is an almost hallmark story...happy end occurred to everyone😂 3/3.4⭐️ 10mo

I‘m trying to follow my reading goals and one of them is read books received from swaps and subscriptions. This is one of them. It‘s a YA fantasy but I like those stories, specially about fae.
Keltania will be the bodyguard of the heir to the throne of Winter Court which she didn‘t expect it was the heir she had to protect. During those first encounters between these two characters, things will happen and they are not what they seem⬇️

Gissy (Cont.) It seems that everyone in this story has a secret which means we will see many betrayals, also we will magic and shape shifters. It has a good end, leaves you with the sensation to continue the story. However, the world as seen in many YAs books, is not complicated. I will say that has similar plot/topic with other YA fae stories. But I‘m a sucker of beautiful editions and this one is so pretty, even the end pages. ⬇️ 10mo
Gissy Second book is coming out this year. I hope is not another unnecessary trilogy 🤞 10mo

Mixed feelings with this short story? Novella? This is about Scott who is losing weight without “getting thinner”. Then there are some situations with people in the community where you see prejudices, discrimination. At some point, I was lost because Mr. King is talking about other irrelevant things, at least for me. But again, the story takes another emphasis, Scott condition, the race and that end...beautiful and sad😔⬇️

Gissy (Cont.) I still liked because this is another character driven story and I love this type of stories and Mr. King is an expert on that. For me was a science fiction story not horror. 3.5/4⭐️

Once There Were Wolves | Charlotte McConaghy

First book I read by this author and I will say I liked the writing style and the story, at least this one. There is a murder and people in the remote Highlands blame the wolves. Inti knows that this attack was not made by the wolves, then by who. She is working with a team to protect the wolves but this project is not well received by the community. But the story is more than that, is about Inti, who can be seen as unlikable character⬇️

Gissy (Cont.)..difficult, confrontative person. But then you know about her sister, her relationship with her mother, her father, and you will have another perspective of the whole situation, why she doesn‘t trust others why is difficult for her to be receptive to new relationships. All those situations in only 256 pages. Wow! That was amazing as a writer. There are some triggers like sexual abuse/assault. 4/4.5⭐️ 10mo
Gissy I forgot, it is a slow pace reading.

First book read in 2024, New Year🙌
This is like a suspense, mystery novel. One December morning, Allison was killed at the mall (It‘s in the book blurb). During the process to move Allison‘s things, Aaron discovered that his wife was full of secrets and the story is about to discover Allison‘s real self but there are eerie elements in the atmosphere. It is a slow pace reading, character driven and Aaron is in a deep grief state, sad story 😔⬇️

Gissy I was expecting more paranormal/horror elements. However, I liked this author‘s writing style, at least in this novel. He expresses so well Aaron‘s feeling that you feel Arron‘s grief. I liked when author describes that Aaron has another self, ”I retreated wholly into other-Aaron during this time”. So you will see Aaron‘s behavior in front of other persons and when he is alone...in sadness😢 That end...3.8 ⭐️
