so-soThis was a silly read set in contemporary times. It was fun. I probably would have enjoyed it more if I read it straight through, but I didn‘t. It drug out because I was reading 3 or 4 other books too.
so-soMaybe it‘s an acquired taste? Not sure it is entirely for me. I‘ll read another of his, but this was pretty wacky.
I‘m not sure how I‘m liking this. I am trying to read something from the Florida Keys in prep for our volunteer gig. But this is just too wacky. Has anyone read this?
When a book has the phrase “cold as a frog‘s balls” in the first sentence, I think that it‘s a good omen. 😂
pickOmg what a wild ride! I just love Carl Hiaasen‘s books- they all tend to follow a similar formula: south Florida, corrupt politicians, quirky characters, wacky murders... but I can‘t get enough! Hoping he comes out with a new one soon!

I did read one incident about the "razor" happening in FL. But come on, the way he presents it as a regular feature in FL. Bit of a stretch, in my opinion.
I haven't read this yet but I am pretty sure there will be a #🏖 in there somewhere. Since most Hiassen books take place in the Florida keys I'm sure this is a safe bet. #emojimadness.

pickThis one was so much fun! I love that even though there were different story lines and points of view, everything came together so easily. I laughed out loud a lot at this one. Hiaasen is definitely an author I will be reading more of.

pickThe perfect plane read. This is my first Hiaasen and I'll definitely be back for more. This was equal parts exciting and comical. Hiaasen does an excellent job of making fun with and of the strange and exceptional place that Florida is. Great for a laugh.
pick2017 #150 farce audio I've read him before but this was over, over the top. I enjoyed it but it got tedious and the fun ridiculous was just stupid. Love the cover though.

Hiassen makes me laugh out loud with hapless characters and insane situations, because, you know, Florida. So twisted and hilarious on greed, vanity, ambition, and failure. I don't want to actually visit, quite content to read all about the high jinks! Feels safer.
pickI have been a fan of Hiaasen for a long time, and this book did not disappoint. It definitely deserves to be ranked one of my top five favorites, right up there with Bad Monkey and Nature Girl. 🤓

#ReadJanuary Dreaming of a warmer climate ... or not. I'm in Atlanta and they are calling for snow, which we're all rooting for (snow=yes! Ice=no!). But I have these two books in my pile for later in the winter when I'll be needing a sunny pick me up!
so-soMy least favorite Hiaasen novel. i thought about bailing, but stuck it out because I kept hoping it would get better because I have really enjoyed his other books. Too many plot lines I didn't care about, particularly the lawyer and his girlfriend who wanted to build a mansion on the lot next to Andrew. I found myself skimming those pages towards the end.
Got this beauty at my book club's holiday book exchange. We do a white elephant exchange with wrapped books. Glad to end up with this one. Especially since the library hold list is in the triple digits!!!
pickStandard Hiaasen fare, with zany acts of Floridaness interspersed with liberal social commentary. If you enjoy his books, you'll like this one. No Skink sightings here, but plenty of laugh out loud moments.

pickDefinitely not my usual fare, and my first Hiaasen. I liked the voices that came through - gritty and salty. It definitely felt very Florida. Also felt a little Palahniuk at times but in its own way. Not a reread but decent!
I am listening to this on Audible and having the hardest time! I guess I should have read it. I think there are too many characters to keep straight. Not all books translate to good listening, I need simple, my mind has trouble paying attention
