After a long fantasy hiatus, I finally went back to the book that started it all. Witnessing how seamlessly, at the time of writing, 15-year-old Paolini paints a clear picture of a dark, yet fantastical realm in Alagaësia is always a thrill. Despite his brief stint as Eragon‘s mentor, Brom truly stands out as one of the great Sages in the fantasy genre. Looking forward to continuing the series!

I'm re-reading Eragon.. and then all the other three books of the series, just for Murtagh!
I've bought the fifth book a few months ago but then I've realized that I don't remember much of the plot 😅

Had to borrow it from the library. My copy i got back in 6th grade many, many years ago is falling apart from reading it so much. I heard there is a new one to this series. I figured i would reread all of em before reading the new one.

Reread after 12+ years for a refresher before I read the new one. You know what, it held up. Is it derivative? Absolutely! But considering its history and how young Christopher Paolini (who‘s my age as it turns out, what??) was when he wrote it, it‘s pretty darn good. And it was more entertaining than most of the fantasy I read in the last few years. I will continue with the series and see how the other books go.

When you read a book as a child and love it, reading it again is like coming home to old friends. Returning to this beloved kids series in anticipation of the new (surprise!) book in the series coming next week about Murtagh. Can‘t believe there‘s going to be a new book after all this time. Feels so cozy to be in this world again. 🫶

MeJeMiller I did a reread of the series last year and am so excited about the new book. 12mo

I really enjoyed this. It is amazing that he was a teenager when he wrote this. There was one twist that I definitely did not see coming. Fortunately I have the next 3 in the series waiting so I can immediately begin the next one. I heard there is a 5th book coming as well. (Called Murtagh.) I hope they release that in the same paper cover that will match the ones I have. I'll at least wait until the paperback is out before I buy it.

I was planning on reading this series next but then I bought a new book that bumped it. So as a workaround I went and got the audio version. This might be the book version of having my cake and eating it too. (Which is an odd saying honestly. Of course you have your cake and you eat it too! What else would you do with cake?!)

Christopher Paolini announced a fifth book in the #Eragon Saga yesterday. The main character is Murtagh and it takes place after the end of the original series. The #Inheritanceseries was my first fantasy saga as a kid, and I was terribly disappointed by the ending.

Unfortunately our US trip and summer holidays interrupted the flow a little - Trix and I had about 20 minutes to go before we left and then struggled to regain the narrative thread when we did many to finish 6 weeks later. It is a good fantasy series, however, in the vein of Tolkien but slightly less complex. Eragon and Safira are interesting heroes and I look forward to seeing how their saga plays out.

Eragon and Saphira have the best bond between two characters of any series in my opinion. I always wished I had my own Saphira while reading this book. And this series has one of my favorite zero-to-hero trope stories. Zero-to-hero is one of my absolute favorite tropes.

Eragon, a novel about a younger boy who is growing up on a farm with his uncle after his Mother, left him as a child with his uncle. As Eragon is out hunting, his life will be forever changed as he finds a warm blue stone in the forest while hunting. Unknowingly he takes home a dragon egg, which lead his family to danger being as it wanted by the empire and Durza - the main antagonist of this book. As we learn, this egg is wanted by the empire…

Paul.Skretting and Durza - the main antagonist of this book. As we learn, this egg is wanted by the empire, and dragon is forced to flee his home to embark on a journey to meat the Varden in the mountains, past the Spine. Brom who is the mentor for Eragon, teaches him basic magic, and techniques to defend himself while also teaching him about dragons, his own dragon Saphira and the history of Alagaësia and its dragon riders. 3y
Paul.Skretting They face foes along the way, the Ra‘zac, minions of Durza, and Urgals, who have been bred for the fighting against the Varden.

As Eragon‘s strength grows and his magic develops, he is able to cast stronger and powerful spells that require more energy that can leave him vulnerable to the Urgals and Ra‘zac. Farthen Dur, the home of the Varden and dwarves, is finally reached after meeting Murtagh and Arya and countless battles through the Spine.
(edited) 3y
Paul.Skretting Arya, being an elf, is able to help Eragon develop his magic further before the invasion of the Varden‘s home. The invasion commenced and the casualties were high and Eragon is almost killed. During his battle, he is able to defeat Durza, by stabbing him through the heart, after which, he falls into a coma because of his injuries. The book ends with Eragon receiving a new quest to venture to the capital of the Elven community, Ellesméra. 3y

Paul.Skretting If magic, combat, dragons and the medieval tyranny, this is definitely a must read for you. A great aspect of the book, is how it is written in first person point of view. The author Christopher Paolini depicts Eragons thoughts and feelings by introducing the aspect of telepathy, mind battles and love interests with others .… (edited) 3y
Paul.Skretting We see Eragon struggle with his feelings, and mental battles with his foes; one of the most difficult and straining forms of combat. 3y

It‘s been 6 hours and I have finished 2.5 books. (The Ghosts We Keep, Eragon and half of A Tale of Two Cities.) Here is my review for Eragon:
I suppose that this was a good book, but not so good that I will go ahead and read the next books in the series. I don‘t tend to enjoy books about dragons and adventure anymore (which is a pity), and that has affected my experience. ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Happy National Dragon Day! 🐉❤ I couldn't fit an actual dragon in my last picture, so of course I had to take another one! 🤣😂 Eragon will always have such a special place in my heart, as it was one of the first series (along with Dealing With Dragons by Patricia C. Wrede) that really got me into dragons! Also, it's such a comfort read for me - any time I'm feeling a bit down I feel myself craving a reread of these books! 🐉📚💕 #dragonsoflitsy

In other news, I finally got a copy of Eldest after so long, and now the Inheritance Cycle is complete! 🥳🐲 Now I can't put off re-reading the series. 😂

(Note: I got the movie tie-in version for Eragon because that was the only available copy my local bookstore had. I actually enjoyed the movie when I was younger, but in recent years...*cringe* We need a new adaptation!)

KaylaCReviews I loved the Eragon movie before I read the book. Now, in order to enjoy the movie, I have to think of it as its own separate work, not an adaptation of the book, though there are still cringe-worthy moments. 😅 A remake could be great. There was talk of it and a TV series a while ago, but nothing came of it, sadly. 3y
asterese @KaylaCReviews Admittedly, there were some good moments in that movie so I like that idea of seeing it as a separate work. 😄 Hopefully we get that remake someday. 3y
