Getting my snack ready for #HyggeHour
Sitting on the porch, listening to the Red Sox and reading the tagged. I‘m not sure it‘s the right book for me right now, but there‘s only one way to find out!
#StorySettings Day 20: The #hospital built in this story was a turning point for the protagonist Nahri in their tribal conflict. Just finished the entire trilogy. Review is forthcoming.
#StorySettings Day 5: The #River Nile plays a prominent role in the final book of the Daevabad trilogy. Did not bring it with me to Norway because (1) too thick and heavy (2) don‘t want the story to end so thought of prolonging it til I return home next week.
#SpringSkies Day 28: Here are #2BksWithSimilarTitle ##2BooksWithSimilarTitle - the one I am reading is paired with cheesy seafood tagine - absolutely delish.
#SpringSkies Day 27: There are #Secrets yet to be revealed in this final installment in the Daevabad trilogy. I am sure I will miss the characters once I am done.
#SpringSkies Day 21: This one is an #AwardWinner - the lotus ice cream cake and the book both which won the Goodreads Choice Award for Fantasy. Loving it so far and I am trying to prolong it as much as I can so that I don‘t get to leave the Daevabad world yet. 😭
#SpringSkies Day 18: #Powerful magic lost in the Daevabad Kingdom. Paired with Artisanal Varzi salami from Pavia given by beloved Italian colleague (who also gave me Leo Lionni‘s Italian version of A fish is a Fish) - plus gouda and brie - and strawberry soju + strawberry mogumogu.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🌟 (4.5/5)
What a series. I was captivated from beginning to end. The world-building and the character development were top notch. It was an emotional rollercoaster. The last installment did not disappoint. It was a #chunkster, but well worth the time. I listened to the audiobooks, and was quite impressed by the narrator, as well.
3✨ The last book of the trilogy wrapped up nicely. I enjoyed the very slow romance that formed. I can‘t say I followed everything because I zoned out with political situations, but overall it was really good. This is probably my favorite of the three. I just wish when a conclusion is met the background of the character doesn‘t change so much. One characters backstory kept changing throughout the trilogy. #SeriesLove
I‘m trying to finish some series here for #SeriesLove and hopefully make it easy with a lot of audio reads since I start work back up next week. Ideally, low stress and easy reads for the next few months with students and getting closer to baby E being born early-ish in September. @Andrew65 @TheSpineView @TheAromaofBooks #BookSpinBingo
Satisfying wrapup to the trilogy. A bit long, but it covered everything.
This took a bit longer. It's slightly "epic" @RaeLovesToRead @TrishB
A good ending to the trilogy and I'm glad I tackled this for #SeriesLove2023.
@TheSpineView @Andrew65
Why did I wait so long to finish this series? I know why… I didn‘t want it to end. 💚
I absolutely loved this. Yes, it was a bit long, but it was totally worth it. I did a hybrid read of this. Listened to it and read some (mostly audiobook).
This was Nhari‘s, Ali‘s and Dhara‘s last journey. So good. I will honestly read anything by this author.

I fell in love with the plot and the world this series brought to life. It has it's pros and cons of course: some of the themes and methods of introducing conflict started to become repetitive, and I think the process of fleshing out the plot over the course of the three books was one that was made slightly more complex than it needed to be. But the world and the characters were so dynamic and artfully crafted, I couldn't not fall in love.
So, so good. I‘m really sad this trilogy has come to an end. I want more!⚡️⚡️⚡️
The final book of the Daevabad series, this brings it all to a great conclusion. Open threads are closed satisfyingly even as the world continues to expand. While there are bits of exposition, they're done such that the characters need to know this too.
Early on I was convinced that the book will not have a happy ending. Though it ended happier than I'd feared, it was a bittersweet but satisfying close.
Audio narrator continues to be amazing.
Last one! I‘m very curious about the Netflix adaptation that‘s been announced, I hope it‘s good and I especially hope they don‘t whitewash the cast.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I was finally able to really dig into this one over the weekend, and I loved it! I don‘t know why more isn‘t being said about this series because it‘s so, so good. I honestly don‘t even know how to talk about it because I loved it so much.
If you enjoy reading fantasy - I highly recommend.

I needed to do something after work... I've read this one already but love the series so much, finally got the third book in my favorite format. All set for a reread now.
A great finale to the series!! Definitely wish some of the relationships were tied up a bit more directly, but the resolution to the ongoing conflict was excellent and well thought out. Didn‘t see the solutions coming!! Overall an excellent ending to a series I wasn‘t initially keen on, definitely finished on a high note :)
Finally got the UK paperback of The Empire of Gold 😍😍 They look sooo pretty now that they are all together. Seriously one of my favourite fantasies of all time!
Side note: I read the ebook of EOG when it came out and never realized how BIG it is 😱 Guys, she's thicc

I am posting one book per day from my to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new - don‘t judge me I have a lot of books.
Join the fun if you want. This is day 193.

What a fantastic end to the trilogy, I couldn't put this down. For me this was a brilliant climax to the story and a satisfactory conclusion to the characters' arcs. Here's hoping that she writes more in this world.
I finished it finally and it‘s bittersweet! What an amazing trilogy! I loved the ending even if it wasn‘t exactly what I wanted for one character buuut still so good! I‘m sad it‘s over. It just has that perfect balance of high fantasy adventure, magic, friendship, humor, and a little romance!

Wow, that was LONG but also a fitting end to all major players' stories.
This has been on my TBR for so long. The problem is that I don‘t want it to end! 😭😅
Trying to reacquaint myself with my TBR while on a book buying ban for this month.

Starting the last book in the trilogy... I don‘t want this series to end 😫😫
But I‘m also really excited to be back in this world.
Always makes me feel like a bit of a dodo to say a book is too long, but....this was too long. The writing is beautiful of course, and I‘m still so impressed with the world and story she created. But it just felt so dragged out and repetitive at times. Dara‘s chapters got too close to grimdark for me, too. Would still recommend the series if it sounds like your jam, but this kind of fantasy just isn‘t quite mine anymore, I think. 3/5 ⭐️
“It‘s supposed to be the mark of a wise leader, right? The willingness to make sacrifices for a greater good? But nobody ever asks those ‘sacrifices‘ if they‘re willing—they get no say in whether or not their kids die for some supposed greater good. And I come from people like that ... From a country that‘s been fought over by foreigners for centuries. We die, and we bleed, and it‘s a debt the powerful never repay.”
“I think it is a mistake to judge the Creator by the misdeeds of mortals.”
“But I‘ve got a lot of experience finding slivers of light to cherish when life gets more miserable than usual.”
Good thing #BookSpin put this ABSOLUTE UNIT on my TBR this month, otherwise I‘m not sure when I would have had the motivation to pick it up. I definitely want to read it and finish this series! But it‘s a beast and I also have only vague memories of the second book. Just read a couple thorough recaps of it so hopefully I won‘t feel too lost in this one! #NowReading
What a great way to end the Daevabad trilogy! Nahri, Ali, and Dara all learn a lot about themselves as they all prepare to make their final stands. I absolutely loved the character development over the three novels and interwoven story lines. 100% recommend and what a great way to start the new year!
My #BookSpin and #DoubleSpin books for January! Definitely eager for The Empire of Gold because one of my reading goals for 2021 is to finish some series. Thanks @TheAromaofBooks !!

I just picked this up from the library, at over 700 pages glad I have lots of days off this month! #tbr
Finally have some much needed me time, so I am curled up on the most comfortable chair in the house, which happens to be in my son's room, with a good book. I also have the pleasure to have one of my reading buddies join me.
I'm still waiting for the paperback of the book to get released so working off the audiobook to finish another series this month!
