The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner is a book that lets the reader have a great time reading the book with its action-packed storyline, interesting events, and so much more. The book is told in the first-person point of view of a thief called “Gen“ (which is short for “Eugenides“ the God of Thieves) and follows the story of his temporary freedom from prison life.

Excellent reading week because I absolutely blew through The Queen's Thief series while struggling with insomnia. I also finished my commute audiobook and it was lovely.

If I can manage to get over the book hangover from finishing this series I'll attempt to make more progress in the short story collection and head into Sorrowland.

This was fun. A sort of quest meets epic heist story. I loved Gen and while this can definitely stand alone I came away with a love for the characters that made me already put in a library hold for the next one.

This book surprised me. I truly enjoyed it quite a bit. I wasn't expecting there to be as much political maneuvering as there was in a book about a prisoner who is sent to steal a sacred relic. I will definitely carry on with the series. I enjoyed the narration of the audiobook as well.

A fun read on Christmas Day as this is the story of a grand adventure! I did not anticipate the ending. The best part of this book is that it's also one that I will happily put into my daughter's hands.

I get it, it was supposed to be clever…a twisty little novel to leave you pleasantly surprised at the end. Besides being obvious by a few chapters in, the writing was mid-tier and left much to be desired. Useful as a quick read between novels, I won‘t be picking up the remainder of the series.

This was a quick read! Good story, lots of action. Not sure if I'll continue the series, but a great break from my norm!

Embarrassingly, I saw this book on TikTok and a librarian was raving about twists and turns you don‘t see coming. She called it one book she wished she could read again for the first time. Disagree- it‘s one book I will never think about again. It‘s not nearly as complex or exciting as she made it sounds - I predicted the outcome well within the first chapters.

It‘s Gen‘s proud boast that he can steal anything, but he was caught and ended up in the king‘s prison. Now the king wants him to steal ... something for him.

Rereading. I got the Mediterranean vibes last time but am noticing the Ancient Greek references now (megaron, agora). Wow - written in1996!

Re-read.

The first and the last. My copy of #6 just arrived so a reread of one to five is in order. Already gobbled up number one. Keen to relive all the others. Such a great series. #thethiefseries #eugenidesthethief

The yoghurt had enough garlic in it to kill every vampire in the country.

The first part of the book was a struggle as the main protagonist came off as whiny. He made up for it in the second half. Adventure, espionage, danger and humor make this an enjoyable read.

Starts off rather slow. You will be misdirected. You may want to set it aside but persevere. It is well worth it and I can't wait for the next book.

The interns I work with last semester demanded I read this book. To a one, it is their favorite #middlegrade read. I started it then & am finishing it for #24in48.

This is a fun, and twisty but not in a gross way, exciting tale of deception and myth. Great hints of Greek and Roman history and mythology, a complicated political situation, and great character development. 4/5 stars! A thief is taken from prison to steal a mythical gods given stone to cement a marriage for a king and a queen. Betrayal, hidden identities, and the intervention of the gods lead to unexpected story

I reread books a lot. It is one of life‘s greatest pleasures, and this book in particular is excellent.

Continuing to reread via audiobooks and loved The Thief in this format just as much. Cannot wait for the new book!!!

Adventure, intrigue,politics, and a surprising twist-🙌 It started out a little slow but I didn't mind the pacing. Interesting characters,some you love to hate. Good start to this 6 book series.

Honor Among Thieves doesn't stick with me that much - it's a weird little cul-de-sac of a story line for Miles, and the crime boss is not that interesting (in my memory at least.
Honor levels of the titular thief: currently unknown.

Well Gen is a sassy pants and the magus is sorta bipolar at timesjk he is just overly suspicious
Sophos was a doll and I loved Pol‘s quiet strength.
Ambiades snickered a lot and Overall it was a fabulous reread! I loved catching the nuances and the neon signs of the ending once you know what it is! Read it. Get pass the 1st 1/2 and it‘s GOLD.

It‘s a five star. It‘s fabulous. It has great re read ability. It had a bit of a slow beginning but boy oh boy! What a ride.
Loooooved it. Like two or three cuss words in the whole thing I think and the snark is fabulous.

I'm really sad that I couldn't finish this book! I've heard such good things about it and I was really excited. It was written well but I just couldn't get into it. I didn't want it to become a chore to read this because then I would dislike the book, and I really don't dislike The Thief. I just couldn't get into it for the life of me if that makes any sense...

How did I forget about the twist ending?! It got me again!

So this book is definitely slower paced but I feel like the length of the book allows that without it to feel like the story is dragging. I'm a sucker for adventuring for the purpose of audience deception and character development so this is kinda perfect for me. I'm hoping the next book will start to develop the politics of the world and get more info about the Queen.

I read this a year or two ago remember enjoying it but that's about it so time for a reread that would allow me to continue on with the series if I like it enough

Read this in one sitting, but I kind of had to push myself to finish it. I‘m really disappointed because I‘ve heard such good things about this series. Maybe it was overhyped in my head, but for me this just wasn‘t anything special. I liked the Hellenic-style setting, but the plot was so predictable. And other than the main character, the characters were not that well-developed. It might be for a younger audience than the books I prefer.

Great book, kept me interested throughout and I‘m reading the series as a buddy read on Instagram. 5/5

The Thief was a fast-paced and fun book. I knew a little bit about the story going into it (or so i thought) and it was filled with hints and puzzle pieces the whole way through. Does this book get better??? I am so bored listening to the audiobook, 5/8 parts have been about the most boring horse ride ever. I‘ve heard good things about this series especially the sequels but this book is such a chore to get through.
