First on the series. Honey moves to town and she & Trixie become fast friends. Sleepyside will never be boring again. 🤓

I really enjoyed revisiting this childhood favorite with my niece!
April #SeriesLove2024 wrap up
Doing great with my middle grade series thus far but need to pick up more adult series.
Growing up I was a Trixie Belden girl & not a Nancy Drew girl. So for the first time as an adult I‘m reading Nancy Drew with the buddy read & I did my first adult reread of Trixie. I enjoyed it very much and I can now positively confirm that I‘m still a Trixie girl as I liked this so much better. I felt the characters & plot were more detailed & fleshed out. I still enjoy Nancy, she is a great mc but Trixie definitely has better storytelling.
I had SO MUCH FUN rereading this and am not sure I want to stick to only one book per month 😂 I remember now how I found Trixie to be a much more relatable heroine than Nancy Drew (although I love Nancy very much) - closer to my age when I was reading these, a big family with lots of brothers, parents who make her do chores, her yearning for a horse, her enjoyment in being outside, etc. Trixie's adventures always felt more like something that ⬇

Read along with @TheAromaofBooks & some friends for a book a month Trixie Belden readalong (we need a hashtag!) It‘s been a few years since I reread the series & this first book which sets it up with Trixie meeting poor-little-rich teen Honey Wheeler & them discovering runaway Jim Frayne hiding in the old mansion. I forgot Brian & Mart (Trixie‘s brothers) are away working at a boys camp for ⬇️
I finally broke down and ordered some Trixie Belden books from eBay, then I found a couple at a used bookstore. These were books my mom loved as a girl, but her copies have vanished. This first one was really charming (except for all the times they had chocolate with lemonade--and once it was pineapple juice 🤮). I can tell I'm going to like these.
#Naturalitsy #HyggeHourReadathon #Litsolace
My #HyggeHour is going to start soon & a little earlier as I have to pick up a colleague early from the airport tomorrow & it‘s a day full of meetings.
Finishing up Pippi Longstocking for #ChildrensClassicRead2024 & the tagged book for a Trixie Belden read-along. Snacking on dill pickle trail mix.
Mood is channeling my inner child when times were easier because I‘m not happy about Monday at all! 😬
The old mansion, & its mysterious inhabitant, down the lane from Trixie‘s home becomes the source of Trixie and Honey‘s summer adventures.
It‘s been so long since I read these stories. & they are just as much fun as I remember. I love all the characters so much, and the setting is just charming. My mom lent me her old copy, & she was so delighted to hear other people had read these books. Can‘t wait to keep going! 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑
Now that we've finished our Nancy Drew read for the month, I'm starting another childhood nostalgia series!! I read Nancy when I was younger, 9-10ish, and didn't discover Trixie until I was a little older, maybe 12-13. I remember finding her a more relatable character - where Nancy is almost superhuman in her skills, Trixie, with her everyday family, love of horses, and parents who made her do homework, felt more approachable! A few of us are ⬇
I may regret this, because obviously I don't have enough buddy reads going on 😂, but is anyone interested in reading the Trixie Belden books with me? I'm thinking very similar to the Nancy Drew readalong - one book a month with a few discussion posts? Since we read ND in the first half of the month and discuss on the 15th, I'm thinking Trixie in the second half and discuss on the 30th?
If yes, start this month or in April?

Had to go with a childhood favorite for today‘s #Mansion prompt. Book 1 in the Trixie Belden series. The edition I own is pictured.
+6 #Scarathlon points for Team #SpookyGhostClub 👻🖤
I‘m doing a slow re-read of my Trixie Belden collection as a distraction while I‘ve had CNN on 24-7 since Tuesday afternoon. I‘m wondering if this book was the source of my mild snake phobia. 😮🐍
I love these books so much. And now I have nearly all of them (many of which I've never gotten to read before!), so you'll be seeing these covers from me for a while to come.
#ThrowbackReadathon re-read.
This is the only Trixie Belden book I own, but I have a heap of Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys books. I'm actually tempted to put this book in my #CupidGoesPostal package, as I know my match loves mysteries like these!
Rearranged some things in my living room and I can now display my Trixie Belden books. Passed down from my mom, I wished I had taken better care of them so they could be read by my nieces.(And also because some of these are originals!) #childhoodmemories
Day 23 #riotgrams #bookyouveownedlongest. I've owned this book since 1971 or 1972. Trixie Belden is my favorite girl detective. My mother read these books when she was young and passed them down to me.
Day 22 #childlike #maybookflowers Oooh, I have some catching up to do! I recently weeded out my bookcases and was able to unpack and shelve my favourite childhood books, including my beloved Trixie Belden books.
I thought Nancy Drew was the love of my life until I met Trixie Belden. I was a little girl and not much of a book critic, but I instantly loved that Trixie was a real girl like me who got into trouble with her mom and fought with her obnoxious brother. The mystery solving was just an excuse to get to spend time with Trixie. #girlcrush #octphotochallenge
Beatrix 'Trixie' Belden was my #girlcrush when I was a tween. I loved her for her down-to-earth and realistic persona. She was a tomboy, struggled in school and experienced insecurity about her looks..things which I could relate to then. She finds mystery wherever she goes; together with her friends, they solved the mysteries and had so much wholesome fun. #octphotochallenge @LibrarianRyan
I'm choosing Trixie Belden as my #literaryBestFriend! I have 1 through 16 in the series and they are all a bit tattered as I read them over and over from about 8 yrs old on. She's an amateur sleuth (like Nancy Drew) and Honey and Jim are her chums. Love her lots!! #octphotochallenge
#augustphotochallenge feel good book. My mom got me started collecting Trixie Belden books when I was young. As an adult I've managed to complete my collection so I can now focus on specific editions. Not only are these books physically beautiful, but the stories pull me in to a happier simpler time. @TheSpinecrackersBookClub
My fave squad will always be Dumbledore's Army, but my first fave squad was Trixie, Honey and the Bob-Whites. #Augustofpages #photobookchallenge
Late #FunFridayPhoto - Growing up Trixie Belden was my idol. I wanted to live at Crabapple Farm in Sleepyside on the Hudson, be a Bob-White of the Glen, be a detective and solve mysteries with my friends. I inherited the first part of this 16 book set from my sister, collected the rest and now buy up the added-on paperbacks when I find them. 😀 About to start @24in48 --looking forward to seeing what everyone posts! Happy Aloha Friday! 🌴🍍
#FunFridayPhoto time!!
I was obsessed with Trixie Belden when I was a kid. I had the whole series and would read it over and over for years. I could never deal with Nancy Drew - Trixie with her love of jeans and horses was my homegirl.
Ah, the memories. The cover has been updated since I read it as a child but everything else was exactly the same. Loved this trip down Memory Lane with Trixie, Honey, and Jim.
I love revisiting my childhood via books. This time I'm rereading a book from one of my favourite mystery series, Trixie Beldon!
