The Mistletoe Inn
The Mistletoe Inn: A Novel | Richard Paul Evans
22 posts | 26 read | 14 to read
The second holiday love story in New York Times bestselling author Richard Paul Evanss Mistletoe Collection. At thirty-two Kimberly Rossi, a finance officer at a Lexus car dealership, has had her heart broken more times than she wants to remember. With two failed engagements, a divorce and again alone with no prospects, she hardly seems the type to dream of being a published romance author. Dreading another holiday alone, she signs up for The Mistletoe Retreat, a nine-day writing retreat in Burlington, VT. Deep inside Kimberly knows shes at a junction in her life and its time to either fulfill her dream or let it go. The other reason she decides to attend the conference is because famed romance writer, H.T. Cowell, once the best selling romance writer in America, and the author whose books instilled in her the desire to be a writer, will be speaking in public for the first time in more than a decade. In one of her breakout sessions Kimberly meets another aspiring writer, and one of the few men at the conference, Zeke, an intelligent man with a wry wit who seems as interested in Kimberly as he is in the retreat. As Kimberly begins to open up to him about her stories and dreams, she inadvertently reveals her own troubled past. As Zeke helps her to discover why her books fail to live up to their potential she begins to wonder if hes really talking more about her life than her literature. But as she grows closer to him, she realizes that Zeke has his own darkness, a past hes unwilling to talk about. The theme of The Mistletoe Inn is that like literature, relationships must be lived with passion and vulnerability to succeed.

Getting into this book took some time. The beginning part was really depressing, it lacked a certain joy I expect from a Christmas book. I did like the story though, it was just a bit on the overly serious side.

This was a new Hallmark Christmas movie two years ago and it quickly became one of my favorites. I even went back and read the book after watching it. #WinterGames #TheFilthyAnimals

Normally I enjoy a fluffy Richard Paul Evans Christmas romance this time of year, but it was too hard to suspend my disbelief for this one & recently read The Noel Stranger. In the latter a woman goes off to Mexico with a guy about a week after they met. In the tagged book a guy she meets at a writers‘ conference in VT flies her to PA & NYC after knowing him for 3 days. Not believable. Close 3rd #worstreads of 2018: The Slave Across the Street.

I liked the #Hallmark movie last year but this was a snooze fest. Way too much telling, no showing & the main characters hadn‘t met yet at 30% in. I also didn‘t like the way he was using the father having cancer in the plot. Next! #christmasreads #romantsy

This douche canoe. 🤦🏽‍♀️ he also says there is a war on men, specifically white men. He has also been accused of sexual harassment at Salt Lake Comic Con.

This was really cute, had some issues that the main character had to work through, but overall, I liked it and enjoyed watching the Hallmark movie that went along with it. Classic Hallmark, feel-good type of book 💕🌲 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

If you liked this book, please explain to me why? The main characters were badly written and I think Evans might have a super high opinion of himself!!

I am loving the mistletoe series and thought it was super fun that this one and the first one are tied together in a neat way!! All of these Christmas reads are making me have unreal expectations when it comes to men... lol!!!

GondorGirl I enjoyed these books, though this was my least favorite of the three. 7y

CrowCAH Have you seen the Hallmark movie, which just came out this year, off of this book?! It‘s great; watch it! 7y
Kshakal @CrowCAH I did and I loved it!!!! (But then I am a sucker for mushy holiday movies!!) 😊 7y
CrowCAH @Kshakal me, too! Actually won a signed copy of the book, via a contest on the Hallmark FB page, when the movie aired! 7y

#HallmarkChristmasMovies #SignedCopy

On Thanksgiving, I watched this Hallmark Christmas movie. It‘s great; all about a creative writer on a week long conference retreat, where she finds creative inspiration and romance!!!

On Facebook, there was a contest to win one of two signed copies of the book; had to say why I loved Christmas. I used a 🎄 metaphor and the rule of three.

And guess what? I won!!! See the picture.

Texreader Cool! Congratulations! 7y
mcipher Nice!! I love hallmark Christmas movies. ❤️🎄 7y

hes7 Yay! 🎉 The book is an enjoyable Christmas story, and now, I need to go watch that movie. 7y
CrowCAH @mcipher @DebbieGrillo me, too, their so mushy gushy adorable! Ever notice that in the more recent seasons they can only share a kiss in the last two minutes of the show?! 7y
CrowCAH @aprilpohren @hes7 this will be my first introduction to his work. I loved the movie, so I think you‘ll like it! 7y

Not my favorite story. It was sweet and it had bright points but overall left me a bit dissatisfied, I'm not exactly sure what was missing but... Yeah, just not quite there.
