#NamasteNovember Today I have picked Irene Adler, a woman who used her beauty, wit and cunning for her own benefit (not necessarily for the right or moral purposes). ‘A Scandal in Bohemia‘ appears in ‘The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes‘.

There is nothing quite so much fun as a quick Sherlock tale. This one is fun, with that deduction twist that is always there.

A Sherlock Holmes story is always a delight.

Love Stephen Fry‘s work on the Sherlock Holmes definitive collection audiobooks. And many thanks to @SerialReader for a handy, easily accessible way to read a classic. I‘m on 3rd story right now and I have to agree with Fry‘s foreword; The opening line of this one was the most remarkable and later became one of signature lines of Holmes collection.

“To Sherlock Holmes she is always the woman.”

(FYI these are salt and pepper shakers I bought from the Sherlock Holmes Museum in London. Aren‘t they cute?!)

Just goes to show you should never discount a woman‘s wit :) such a good book . June/24-June/25 love how short this book was too.

Finished reading my second Sherlock Holmes story through Serial Reader! This one introduces "the Woman" Irene Adler and causes Holmes to rethink his regard for the female brain. Another good mystery. ?

Just finished this short story. A fun read. I like the original Sherlock, he's a character with a lot more humour than film renditions had made me accustomed to.

This was nearly more an adventure than a mystery. Great fun.

How I love Irene Adler! This is definitely one of my favorites!

I really liked this one, it's definitely my favorite so far. It's much shorter so the pacing isn't as much of an issue, and they really get to the problem fairy quickly. For those wanting to check out Sherlock I'd start with this one! #sherlocked

I think I just might enjoy the short stories even more than the novels. This one was my favorite so far. John is the ever-loyal companion, and Irene Adler was fascinating! Bested by a woman, gotcha Mr Holmes! I thoroughly enjoyed the fast pace of this story, loved the disguises and the ending was just magic!

I re-read this one last year so I don't have much to say other than I love the current BBC Sherlock's take on Irene Adler, aka The Woman. Oh to be #Sherlocked.

We are introduced to an antagonist that can keep up with Holmes and there are no lengthy back flashes... This is a fun quick read! #Sherlocked

She's a match for Sherlock - enough said!

My all-time favorite Holmes story is The Speckled Band but this one is a close second. This one typically shows up on best of lists, and for good reason. It's one of the few times Holmes is really outmatched. I think, however, his insight into how a person might respond to an emergency is accurate. If you have not seen the BBC Sherlock's version of this story, you should. It is a fantastic modernization. #SerialRead

The tricks and misdirection that Holmes uses to "solve" the case is more reminiscent of the magician's arsenal than the deep thinking of Agatha Christie's heroes or modern mystery writers. Holmes always has confederates in the audience and can ace up his sleeve.

Easing into Serial Reader with "A Scandal in Bohemia" (first Irene Adler Holmes story). Now I want to pay $2.99 for the second third of the story, which I know damned well is in the public domain for free.
