A friend loved this book and told me how excited she is for the movie to come to theaters soon. She loaned her copy to me. I read it yesterday and loved it too. It is a delight. Humorous and heartfelt. 5⭐️ #FirstLineFridays

#wintergames #teamreindeergames 25 points for a holiday read! Love this children‘s classic - so funny and really enjoyed the short narration on this audiobook.
A funny novella about the true meaning of Christmas. A bit dated in places but quite cute. #WinterReadathon @Andrew65 @DieAReader @GHABI4ROSES
How have I never read this before?! Wholly delightful, highly recommend, especially if you like your holidays too be a little less perfect and a little more joyful chaos.
"Any other kid -- even a mean kid -- would have been a little bit worried if he stole $4.95 worth of something and then burned down a building with it. But Leroy was just mad because the chemistry set got burned up along with everything else before he had a chance to make one or two bombs."

Thanks for the tag @wanderinglynn 🙂
Maybe not my “favorites“ but very well liked:
1. tagged (fun read or listen)
2. Peter Benchley (love Jaws)
3. Batman (original TV series - so fun)
4. B.B. King ('nuff said)
5. Bad Girls (Donna Summer - she was my go to during my teen years)
Make a great day everyone 🌞
After reading @JoeMo and @CharityAnn reviews, thought I'd listen - loved it - really great story about true meaning of Christmas - in a hilarious (only tears of laughter here) way -

I found this book last year and I‘ll listen to it every year at Christmas time. It‘s an absolutely wonderful tale about a church‘s Christmas pageant that goes delightfully wrong and yet ends up being more meaningful at the same time! I‘m an atheist and absolutely adore this book and recommend it to all regardless of one‘s beliefs. Elaine Stritch‘s narration is perfect. I plan to check out more of this series!
I‘ve loved this since I was a kid and returning to it as a non-religious adult, found I still loved it. This year I listened to the audiobook, narrated by the inimitable Elaine Stritch, the perfect person to give life to this funny, touching story about a group of feral children that bring the nativity story to life.
A really cute kid‘s Christmas book with a touching ending!

Kiddo was decorating the gingerbread house, hubby was setting up the tree and lights, and I was reading aloud from my favorite Christmas story of all time. It was a good evening.
Oh, and kiddo had her very first violin recital and absolutely knocked it out of the park! She played her solos, did a short ballet to the Sugar Plum Fairy music, then played in an ensemble for the finale. I‘m so proud of her - especially since she started in August! 🥰
Finished this one last night. A very quick read/listen. Listened to the audiobook while following along so I could try and find the #WGWordsearch words.

The Herdmans are the kids everyone wants to avoid-they steal, swear, hit little kids and smoke cigars. So when they decide to join the annual Christmas pageant it‘s assumed it‘s going to be the worst one ever. But somehow the Herdmans make it better. I‘ve always loved this and enjoy reading it every year.

I'm calling it a Black Out, even though the book I am reading with the 9 year old isn't finished - tagged. #BookSpinBingo @TheAromaofBooks
The traditional church Christmas pageant is usually the same predictable re-enactment of the nativity that everyone attends and that the kids are a part of, but no one really enjoys. That is until everything that can will go wrong. From one thing to the other it seems like the Christmas pageant will be a disaster, all you can do is cringe, chuckle, and wait for the big day...and then you‘d probably cry a bit for the Herdmans.

Finished this one on Christmas Eve. I loved it as a child and it was fun to re-read. It‘s a sweet little story ❤️
I read this for the first time aloud to my kids. Funny, real, and a refreshing look at the Christmas story. The Herdmans make for a great story!
I finished my holiday reread of this wonderful book that has been a part of my holiday traditions since 5th grade.
I adore the kids in this book and how they force those around them to change their thinking and remember what the true meaning of Christmas is. 🎅🎄💚

Started my all-time favorite Christmas read yesterday with the kiddo. I think I have read or been read this story every Christmas of my entire life.
Thanks @RamsFan1963 for the tag!
1. Tagged
2. Bob Crachit ( I hope I would be that cheerful in the presence of Scrooge)

1. Tagged book. I don‘t read many Christmas books, but this one I read a lot as a kid.

Tree is up. Refraining from a lot of the ornaments bc with a 3 year old, a nanny share 1 year old and two cats, I‘m pretty sure the play yard the tree is camping in is not going to hold up. 😂
Hi it‘s day 3 of fall break and I might strangle one of them. 🤣🤣🤣
Oh my gosh, I think their ears completely shut off the second fall break began. I‘m like a broken record over here. 😬🙄

I have loved this book since the first time I read it. I reread it every few years for the happy feeling it leaves in the pit of my stomach. This year, we listened to it on audiobook in the car on the way to christmas dinner. Josh joined me for the listen, and for him it was the first time, and he was enthralled. He was grumpy about it, but he stayed awake for the entire thing and commented on who various characters remind him of. ⬇
Flib enjoyed the audiobook on the way to moms, demon was board an sleepy. Both are glad to be home.

Always a good read. Personally, I‘m an atheist, but I get choked up reading this every year.
Another holiday read underway.

Started the annual read-aloud with the kiddo today. Hubby was laughing at some of the funny bits, and I realized he‘s never listened in before. Then he said kiddo doesn‘t seem too interested in it (untrue, by the way, but it was snack and bedtime) - to which I say who cares? I read it for me, because it‘s my family tradition, and it‘s important to me whether anyone else follows along or not.
I thought this would be a good family audio during our road trip to a family party today.... but could not go past 20 minutes. I tried, I did, but I couldn‘t. It felt backward and I hope it turns around at the end... but I didn‘t want to go through it. #holidayread #wintergames #teamnutcracker
#WinterGames #MerryReaders #HolidayRead I loved this book as a kid. 💜
This has become a holiday tradition to read this at Christmas every year. It‘s technically a children‘s book, but it is quite hilarious and enjoyable for adults as well. It is also a movie, which I need to track down. Highly recommended! 5⭐️

This has a soft spot in my heart because I played Imogene Herdman in the play. Even though it's targeted at children, there are so many poignant and nuanced moments. It's a progressive book for being published in 1972; so many of the lessons and critiques hold up in today's society. https://onthebl.org/2019/12/15/the-best-christmas-pageant-ever-by-barbara-robins... or through the link in my bio!!!
It‘s been a while since I‘ve read this so it seemed a perfect choice for listening to on this snowy afternoon while making Christmas goodies and wrapping gifts. It was just as wonderful as I remember, both a beautiful story of the true meaning of Christmas and incredibly entertaining.

Its been awhile since I've been on. Christmas prep and end of season sports always slow down my reading in November/ December. Here are my reads in the last month. All were enjoyable.
This book is part of our #HolidayTraditions. We read it every year with my nephew. It's also the perfect book for #HolidayDecorations since the Herdmans have some very interesting suggestions on what counts as decorations. #HollyJollyReading

This was a favorite book of mine when I was a kid. I read it a lot, based on the condition of my book. I re-read it as an adult last year. Decided to listen to it this time-Elaine Stritch is the narrator. I still love it—— #holidayread 20 pts. #wintergames #thefilthyanimals @Clwojick @StayCurious

I loved this book so much as a kid! I reread it a year or so ago and still enjoyed it. #HolidayBook #HollyJollyReading
Just re-read (for the 30th time) this sweet, feel good Christmas tale. It‘s a simple story that carries with it a message of hope, joy, and love that seems to stand the test of time. It doesn‘t offer deep social commentary but it gives you a moment of pure peace and joy fitting for this season. #wintergames. #thefilthyanimals

Re-reading a childhood favorite. 🌟
I first heard this story in the 4th grade when a teacher read it to us. I've read it on Christmas day every year since then. I just love the Herdmans!
My little guy wasn't happy I uncovered him while he was snuggled in bed reading with me. 🐶🎁🎅🎄💚
