Finished in less than 24 hours! I enjoyed it - it‘s tense and complicated but a fast read nonetheless. Good if you don‘t mind unlikeable characters, and potentially unreliable narrators. Steer clear if motherhood issues are a sensitive topic for you. #botm
Getting started - already with the mixed feelings but gotta make some #botm progress. Any insights?
What a lovely cover. 1/3 thru my bookclub selection. Anyone else read it? I think I‘m liking it but a little uncertain.
The back and forth between time periods and characters was well done. I felt the ending was a bit dissatisfying and could have done with a bit of an edit. Still, I would pick up another by the author. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Just finished this middle grade graphic novel. Five ⭐️ from me. Main character should be a shapeshifter as a boy in his family but is drawn to traditionally female identifying witchcraft. There‘s a mystery of attacks from an evil shifter to add to the drama. It was beautifully done and a quick read.
I‘ve found my new fandom. Middle grade fantasy - I loved this one so much. Very excited to hear it had a movie in the works snd it is the first in a series of books. Yesss #netgalley #opionionsmyown
Amazing. Really very good mystery but with heavy topics of sexual abuse, foster care and neglect. Still, with all@that I couldn‘t put it down and finished in 48 hours. #mystery #netgalley #allopinionsmyown
Just started it and can‘t put it down. 60% done in a day.
DNF - almost half through. It‘s just not the season for this one. I may look into her poetry at some point. #dnf
Brandy Colbert is fast becoming a favorite writer and this doesn‘t disappoint. The mystery held me but also the character development and friendships. #netgalley #myopionionsaremyown #realistic #juvenile #middlegrade
Just started this one and it‘s already helping cut through the noise.
Omg this was a page turner. I really couldn‘t put it down. What an interesting setup and character development!
Here‘s the photo I meant to post with my last review. Not really sure what happened. Love this cover. #botm
Little lunch time reading. 115 pages in and I‘m now hooked. Back to work I go. Just signed up for Bookly so reading was interesting with the timer and tracker. Do you use it?
What‘s everyone pic? I got bookmoji pins because someone used my referral link.
D%$n this is good book. Riveting, fast paced and gritty. What a great ride - definitely recommend getting your hands on it soon.
Wow, this is starting off as hard to put down. Glad my bookclub picked it. Anyone read it?
Reading a short story every day or so in Office of Historical Corrections. Y‘all - I genuinely dislike short stories. But this collection can so far so no wrong. Here‘s hoping the little guy is so tired from our tiny snow that I get some nap time reading done!
Finished an Advanced Reader copy of Broken today. So good. I always wonder if she can maintain her run - the answer is yes. I laughed. I cried. I‘ll buy a real copy soon.
I followed the authors story when the times picked her up and couldn‘t look away. Rediscovered her through Instagram a few months back (or maybe more - what is time anymore?). So glad I did. She is a masterful writer and though her story of life as a young woman with cancer often makes one want to look away - I couldn‘t. Thankful to the author and pub for the ARC. Pub date is 2/9/21. All opinions are mine.
Historically I don‘t love short stories. The first one of this book was good. Fingers crossed as I work through it.... any thoughts? #botm #shortstories
A diverse and intriguing sci fi take - definitely recommend. I loved the idea of traverses, and Nyame, and the main character Cara seemed so real to me.
Wow. Great look at micro aggressions and their impact. I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Great juvenile read but I would recommend to adults as well.
Super short read - this was two chapters long. Enjoyable , but not earth shattering. 3/5
This was a super fast read for me. I‘ll be seeking out more of Mrs. Raisin! #mystery #cozymystery #heartpotatosayshi
Changed it up as always. I always order late and change my mind a million times. Ordering is harder after reading all the year end lists! #botm
Our first Koalacrate project is done. I‘ve managed a few pages of the tagged book and am quite distraught that there seems to be a nap boycott going on so I can‘t dig in yet.
Chewy cake complete. Times two. Also complete? This book. Wow. Just - Oh. This was probably the best book I‘ve read in a very long time if not ever. I tend to avoid hype books and then when I finally read them have to admit there was reason for the hype. So- have you read it? What did you thibk?
My#BOTM came in- the box looked rough but all was well. Anyone else get these?
Took a quick getaway trip@to a tiny cabin this weekend. Forgot to bring the Great Alone but back to reading it. Pretty sure I‘m not surviving the wilderness- I used up fire started orovided by the cabin - apparently my Girl Scout fire building skills are a little rusty! #botm #lovesomebookssetinalaska
Quick read - children‘s non fiction. Tells of a forgotten slave cemetery found in NY state and all that was learned from it.
This was good. Listened to the audio. I seem to keep landing on books for juveniles (this one) and adults with mentally ill motherhood as a focus. I think maybe I need a break from the theme. Well done nonetheless.
Also the Office of Historical Corrections. Anyone else?
Tree is up. Refraining from a lot of the ornaments bc with a 3 year old, a nanny share 1 year old and two cats, I‘m pretty sure the play yard the tree is camping in is not going to hold up. 😂
Little lunchtime reading. Oh to have just one more hour.....
Listening and cooking. Anyone else doing the late night prep thing?
Read it basically in a day other than the first 15 pages. Simple but enjoyable. Loved the fact that the author was inspired by Joyful. Color and it‘s impact on Joy fascinate me.
Wow. I‘m stunned by this one. What an amazing and powerful story.
Reading this in my darkened office bc migraine. Cannot out it down -I‘m so wrapped up in the story already.
Finished. Slow read - beautifully written story about science, faith, addiction, grief and mental illness. Set in the US and Ghana. Would recommend.
