I have been meaning to read the Sookie Stackhouse novels for years and enjoyed the first several seasons of True Blood (especially Alexander Skarsgard 😂). Maybe next Scarathlon I will finally take the plunge! #scarathlonphotochallenge #coffin #blackcatcrew

BookwormAHN I've read the first few and they were good. And so was the show if you discount that last season 😸 1y
BeckyWithTheGoodBooks @bookwormahn I heard the show went off the rails at the end. That happens a lot!! 1y

Finished the 2nd book today in my Sookie Stackhouse reread. I like the set up in this book way more than what the tv show did with this storyline. With the exception of Lafayette, because I like him in the tv show. I didn‘t remember much about the book, but I‘m enjoying my reread and these are good on audio.

Started the Sookie Stackhouse books last week! I‘ve been having a fun time reading the first two. I like how true to the book the first few episodes of True Blood were. I‘m hoping the books get better because I hated the ending of True Blood. #paperback #library #bookstotv #trueblood #sookiestackhouse #charlaineharris

SillyLilNillyy Officially just picked up on the 2nd, Living dead in Dallas. Have you started the next? 2y
SpookyDonut I‘m on the 5th book but got distracted by other things and haven‘t finished it. I love these books though. I feel like there‘s so much missing from the show and so many differences. 2y

This series is a little weird. This book contains some interesting mythology but its description is very shallow. It can be an interesting read.

Classic vampire trash 🧛 Can‘t help but love it.

BookBoggart I just finished binge watching the whole series! So upset that they are in the works to reboot it with the creator of Riverdale bleh. Plus who else is gonna be able to play Eric Northman?! 4y
MollyLooby @BookBoggart I know! He was the perfect Eric! Its weird to me that they‘re rebooting it when it hasn‘t been that long since the original run finished 🤷‍♀️ 4y
BookBoggart Right?! They are that hurtin for content apparently. Also the actor who played Lafayette passed away. Unless they go more towards the books even then though I don't see the point. Sookie might suck less? Lol 4y
MollyLooby @BookBoggart Haha, yeah 🤣 The actor who played Lafayette was so good they didn‘t kill him off when he dies in the books, and I think that‘s a testament to how loveable he made that character. It won‘t be the same without him 4y

I‘ve got a few books on the go atm but with all the COVID upheaval & uncertainty, I‘ve been struggling to concentrate. So I decided to re-read this, the 2nd book in the Southern Vampire Mysteries. I find these such easy reads & enjoy the way Harris describes mundane tasks in Sookie‘s life, like choosing her outfits or doing housework, it‘s oddly comforting.
Hopefully I can finish the other books this week, I hate leaving books half read!

Day 3-I‘ve read this series and watched the show. It‘s a fun series, with some inconsistencies that bug me if I read them back to back. Bill and Sookie travel to Dallas, and the reader finds out vampires use a coffin travel service. #scarathlon #chillingphotochallenge #teamslaughter @Clwojick

Clwojick I still have to read these! i finally managed to get my hands on the fist of the series. 5y

Just sitting here in my puppy-fur covered leggings, enjoying this Sookie Stackhouse novel. I read this one years ago and never continued on with the series. At first, I felt the story was a little slow, but it‘s starting to pick up now. And I don‘t remember as much from this one as I did rereading the first. So it‘s almost new to me again.

Why have I decided to read 4 books while also trying to get ready for Christmas and attempt crocheting for the first time? I really don‘t know BUT I‘m having so much fun juggling it all!! 🤹🏻‍♀️
Any fellow crocheters out there? Any good tips for a newbie like me? 😺

bullbunny What would you like to know? I taught myself! 6y
julesG My first crochet project was a hat. Turned out too big because I confused UK and US crochet terms. 😵 Start with something small where size doesn't really matter, pott holders or a scarf. 6y
BookNerd9906 Me too, literally all those things! I‘m learning by watching YouTube videos! Scarves/neck warmers are great to start. I‘ve just moved on to hats. (edited) 6y
See All 28 Comments
julesG @bullbunny Taught myself, too. I 6y
Kaye I taught myself when I was around 10-12. I didn‘t know anyone close who could teach me so I checked out a library book and figured it out myself. I agree with the others. YouTube videos are great. Start with easy projects, even maybe some afghan squares in each of the beginning stitches. Try this website http://www.warmupamerica.org/patterns.html All the libraries in our area do this in the winter to make afghans for shelters. 6y
StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego Decorating has drastically cut into my reading time. But it's so much fun, and I go way overboard... Good luck with the crocheting! 6y
Kaye 👆🏼 Under WUA featured and basic ( in red, about halfway down the page ), click on crochet patterns. Those give you the basics for the easier patterns. (edited) 6y
CatLass007 Congratulations on learning to crochet! I started with afghans and did nothing but for ages. But I agree with the others, start with something small like a scarf or squares with different stitches. 6y
introvertedbooks I love crocheting so if you need any help feel free to ask!!! 6y
ravenlee I‘m actually crocheting while reading this! Happy to answer any questions - and I second/third/whatever all the advice above. 6y
brittanyreads @bullbunny Favorite tools? Yarn? And best places to find patterns? :) 6y
brittanyreads Thanks! @julesG I‘ve already stumbled upon US and UK patterns and found myself confused. At least I know now they aren‘t the same! Lol 6y
brittanyreads @BookNerd9906 I‘m waiting on my materials to arrive so I‘ve been watching a bunch of YouTube in anticipation! Loving Sewrella and Bella Coco. What are your favorites?? 6y
brittanyreads @Kaye thank you so much!! I‘ll check that website out! I‘ve been thinking of starting with a baby blanket for my son. he won‘t mind if it‘s not perfect haha 6y
brittanyreads @StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego I‘ve toned it down this year a bit but there‘s still a lot! Getting a tree and baking Christmas cookies this weekend!! Thank you! Have fun! 6y
brittanyreads @CatLass007 Thanks! I hope I‘m halfway decent at it lol! 6y
brittanyreads @introvertedbooks Thank you so much! What‘s your favorite project to create? 6y
brittanyreads @ravenlee Thanks!! :) 6y
ravenlee Knitpicks.com is a good resource for yarn and tools, and some great books and tutorials. 6y
julesG Www.ravelry.com has patterns, forums/groups, yarn ideas, tool ideas, etc. But it can be quite overwhelming at first. Should you get an account there, one day, I'm JulesG over there, too. Www.knittingdaily.com has a crochet page, too. As for tools and wool, I'll let the US Littens answer that question. My only piece of advice is: especially as a beginner, do NOT go cheap on tools and material. You'll only be disappointed. 6y
julesG Choose a simple project to begin. Get a good medium sized hook and size matching yarn for your first project. You want to have fun, not be frustrated by the blunt hook or the splitting yarn. 6y
bullbunny @BrittanyReads I just YouTube or google patterns. YouTube has a variety of things, and people show you how to do the stitch. I love hooks with bamboo handles. Though the rubber grip kind are good too. Got a multi-pack on Amazon. My yarn I get mostly at joann's and Michael's. Sometimes walmart. 6y
brittanyreads @ravenlee thank you! I‘m so excited to begin! 6y
brittanyreads @julesG thank you so much for your advice! 6y
brittanyreads @bullbunny Thank you! I ordered some bernat blanket yarn and crochet hooks from amazon last week to get started and they lost my package 🤦🏼‍♀️ I‘m so excited to start I may just head over to Michaels today to grab a few things to hold me over. 6y
bullbunny @BrittanyReads wow how could they lose a package? Practice makes it great! Start with the less expensive kind, to practice with 6y
brittanyreads @bullbunny no idea! 😡 went to Michaels and picked up some inexpensive hooks and yarn until my other stuff gets here!! 6y

Enjoying my series reread. I didn‘t remember how little we get of Lafayette from my first time through, so that made me sad. I was irritated with how that story got sidelined for the vamp business, but it got tied up well.

I never really understood Bill‘s allure, as I find him high-handed and petty. But Eric sure is fun.

I want to hold your hand and any other part of your body.☺️ I loved Book Eric but Alexander Skarsgard portrayal of him on True Blood was just fantastic. I absolutely love Charlaine Harris and the Southern Vampire Series. Ms. Harris is funny but intense. She is creative but real. The book was easy to read, it was short but exciting at the same time. The characters are absolutely lovable. I find myself rooting for Sookie and Bill. The only problem I have with the book was the orgy thing. It was gross. ;p

I will definitely pick up the next book in the series!
