I had a much better time reading Weatherwax in this book, I feel like it gave a more personal journey for her character. There's something incredibly human in the fact that even as they work to defeat a greater threat/evil, there's a bit of judginess and pettiness from both witches and priest, but it doesn't stop them from helping each other, and maybe come out more understanding in the end. Love Igor and Scraps; Death cameos.
Warning: fatphobia.

Another book finished for #Scarathlon2022 that fits the #TeamMonsterMash theme! The witches, my favourite Discworld characters, goes up against a family of vampires. The cover image sums up pretty well this chaotic and hilarious encounter.
@StayCurious
Reading goal: finish this one. 2/3 s in. I think I can do it! Except maybe I'll just fall asleep. Thank god Haidi (the shark on the left) is there to keep me awake

I actually read this a couple weeks ago and forgot to review. Oops! The Witches stories are always my favorite of the Discworld universe and this one didn't disappoint. A few really good passages, some witty humor, and an interesting story that actually didn't have an obvious ending. If you're a Discworld fan, don't miss this entry in the series.

When the King diplomatically invites all the neighbors in for the new baby‘s naming ceremony, including a family of vampires, trouble naturally ensures...after all you can‘t expect a vampire to forgo an invitation, printed on fancy paper with gold edging no less. Luckily the ramtops have a few residence witches to come to the rescue, using their wiles, some headology, and a smattering of pictsies.

Well, I gave it my best shot for this week. Wasn‘t quite up to finishing the second (tagged). As much as I‘m enjoying it, other duties call...
Thanks for hosting #SuperSeptember readathon @Andrew65 !

When people were in serious trouble they went to a witch.
*sometimes,of course, to say, “please stop doing it”.
First LOL of the morning as I enjoy some quiet time and catch up on my meagre #superseptember goal.
Through the shredded black clouds a fire moved like a dying star, falling back to earth —
— the earth, that is, of the Discworld —
— but unlike any star had ever done before, it sometimes managed to steer its fall, sometimes rising, sometimes twisting, but inevitably heading down.

Pretty sure this is my favorite witch book! (Ask again when we get through the Tiffany books.) I think all of this weaves together beautifully. I'm shocked at how much I forgot, because I love so much of it! I think my biggest complaint is the amount of stuff Agnes got to do - I wish it had been more.
#OokBOokClub
Also, forgot that this is a stealth sequel to Small Gods. I think Brutha would be proud of you, Oats!

Time to lay out my Theory of Witches Books:
So the witch books always have bangers of endings, but I often don't feel as strongly about the rest of the book. I think these things go together! The witches, especially Granny, are very powerful, which means a lot of the plotting has to be keeping them from getting to the problem. Lords and Ladies felt pretty contrived, but in this book that plot delay mostly felt very character based.

If I ever get turned into a vampire PLEASE only call me Cryptopher. #OokBOokClub
I do wish this book would stop hitting Agnes in the face!
#OokBOokClub
Okay, there are way more things in this book that I don't remember at all than there are things I do, so far. (Also, I am interested to revisit The Sea and Little Fishes in the light of Nanny saying Granny could never hurt a child. What changes from now to then?)
#OokBOokClub
Excited to revisit this one! It's another one where I remember the climax and also one where my brain mashes it up with the next book. Time to disentangle! #OokBOokClub

I don't know why it took me so long to read this one...I believe Sir TP's books are all special, full of laughs and sass and wisdom. This one definitely is up there with the more specialy-iest. Not only is it an introduction to the Wee Free Men and their ludicrous insanity, it's a reflection on faith, folk lore, knowing your own mind, and how do we make choices that are right and wrong. Plus vampires. And Igor. Yeth, mathter....
Even with Halloween been and gone, I'm keeping on the spirit 😊🦇🧛🏻♀️🧛🏻♂️🧙🏻♀️

Of course I loved Carpe Jugulum! We get to know all of the witches a little better and in slightly different roles. There‘s a preacher man who‘s faith is challenged. And some very unusual vampires. Oh, and an Igor who is something of a Frankenstein monster, of his own making. All the ❤️.
It‘s been a few months since I‘ve visited Discworld. This will be my first time reading this one 😊🧙♀️🧛♂️
Discworld is my comfort space, and the focus on Nanny Ogg was just what I needed to recharge

Today marks the day we lost the inimitable Sir Terry Pratchett. This part of the shelf is like a book shrine in his honour ?
I love these. This is another one with the witches. 💖📚 Seize the throat! Obviously.
Just joined my first swap. My newbie Litten status is on the brink of upgrading. This and I level up in an hour...
Which bit of sass do you like best?

“There‘s no greys, only white that‘s got grubby. I‘m surprised you don‘t know that. And sin, young man, is when you #treat people as things. Including yourself. That‘s what sin is.‘
‘It‘s a lot more complicated than that -‘
‘No. It ain‘t. When people say things are a lot more complicated than that, they means they‘re getting worried that they won‘t like the truth. People as things, that‘s where it starts.” #QuotsyJuly18
Here's a #RainbowBookStack of a few Discworld books. The only one in this stack that's tbr is The Last Continent. #Riotgrams
While I missed some of the usual coven vibe, it was fun to see how Lancre handles a vampire invasion. I have to admit that I only understood about 2% of what the Nac Mac Feegles were saying. 😄
I found this beautiful 1998 HB Of Carpe Jugulum at the charity store for Q9 yesterday. I already own this one in the collectors library but I couldn‘t NOT buy it so I grabbed it for my baby‘s daddy. He‘s yet to read Pratchett which is practically sacrilege. It‘s like new which is marvellous and I can‘t stop staring. #terrypratchett #sirterrypratchett #pterry #pratchetttheduckout #discworld #speakhisname #fantasy #secondhandfinds
