I really liked it, but I can't tell you why. Not much happened throughout most of the book. I didn't think the character relationships were strong in any way. The characters also were relatively simple. Yet I still enjoyed reading the book and thought it was a great start to a series.
This is book two in the series. Fable is the daughter of Isolde and Saint. She has inherited her mother's talents of a gem sage. Her mother died when the Lark sunk during a storm. Saint left her behind at 14 in a port city and told her she was not cut out for this world. She is forced to learn how to survive on her own as she fights her way back to Saint. Great story about love, ruthlessness and what it takes to survive. 4⭐️
I liked Fable and the crew even though they didn't stole my heart. I loved their friendship and how they supported each other.
It seems like I would love pirate stories - I loved the atmosphere, adventure, freedom and how merciless their life was. This really didn't have many big twists or scenes and sometimes felt a bit slow. But overall I would say this went forward all the time and was easy to read.

4⭐️. Plus an immediate borrowing of the sequel from the library. That‘s how I feel at this time.
Appropriate as I just finished Namesake, the second book in the duology! Amazing series, I highly recommend it! #alphabetgame #LetterF @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks
@Allylu @Andrew65 thanks again for tagging me!
Just ok.
Does anyone use Fable? What is it- like another scribd? They‘re website is frustratingly vague.
I quite enjoyed this book and I really loved the characters and how they interacted with each other. I found myself quite invested in the story, so much so that my friends made fun of me for it. Overall, I highly reccomend this book for someone interested in pirates and their adventures in a fantastical world.

Because it was a wave that would retreat if I didn't say it. It was a setting sun unless we could really trust each other. The words wound tight in my throat, more tears sliding from the corners of my eyes. “Don't lie to me and I won't lie to you. Ever.“
“I kissed you because I've thought about kissing you for the last two years. I thought that if I just...“ He didn't finish. “We can't do this by the rules, Fable. No secrets.“ He stared at me.
“But in Ceros, you said...“ The words trailed off.
“I underestimated my ability to be on this ship with you and not touch you.“
“The only thing I feel truly afraid of is something happening to you.“
“When you got off the Marigold in Ceros and I didn't know if I would ever see you again, I thought...I felt like I couldn't breathe.“
“I have thought about you every single day since that day. Maybe every hour. I've counted down the days to go back to the island, and I pushed us into storms I shouldn't have because I didn't want to not be there when you woke up. I didn't want you to wait for me. Ever. Or think I wasn't coming back.“ He paused. “I struck the deal with Saint because I wanted the ship, but I kept it because of you.“
“The moment you tell me anything, you're going to be afraid of me.“
“I'm already afraid of you.“
“I'm not saying I don't want you to love him. I'm only saying that if you get him killed, I don't know if I'll be able to keep myself from cutting your throat.“
I folded myself into him, finding the place beneath his jaw, and he held me. So tight. Like he was keeping me from unraveling. And he was. Because that kiss broke open some dark night sky within me filled with stars and moons and flaming comets. That darkness was replaced by the blazing fire of the sun racing under my skin.
And I disapeared. I was erased.
Every day on Jeval. Every night in the belly of the Lark. It all flickered out, leaving only the hum of the deep. Leaving only me and West.
He looked at me with a hundred stories lit behind his eyes.
And though West had said again and again that he didn't do favors and that he didn't take chances, he'd done both.
Over and over.
For me.
Like a weary bird flying out over the most desolate sea, I finally had a place to land.
“I say we let this good-for-nothing Jevali dredger crew for the Marigold.” She flicked the coin into the air, and it flashed against the lantern light as it spun, landing in Auster‘s hat. “Even if she is a bad luck charm.”
“I can't care about anyone else, Fable.“
His meaning filled the small bit of space between us, making me feel like the walls were creeping in. Because I knew why he'd said it. It was in the way his eyes dropped to my mouth sometimes when he looked at me. It was in the way his voice deepened just a little when he said my name. West was taking a different kind of risk by voting me onto his crew and in this moment, he was letting me see it.
“That's not how a crew works.“
I let out a long breath. “Then teach me.“
“What are you thinking?” I watched her face carefully. The fury that had been there on the docks was gone now, only the fear left.
“I‘m thinking I‘ll burn this city to the ground until I find him.”
My mother had loved Saint with a love that could set fire to the sea.
“You're my daughter, Fable.“
I looked him in the eye, my voice seething with every drop of hatred that boiled within me. “I'm Isolde's daughter.“
“As long as I'm on this crew, I won't be alone. I think that's a pretty good place to be when death comes knocking.“
“Why?“
“Because he has a really bad habit of making other people his problem.“
“I can‘t decide if I like you or if I think you‘re stupid.”
There was something knowing in the way he looked at me. Something that pulled at the knots in the net of lies we‘d both told.
It was terrifying, but familiar. It was as beautiful as it was deadly.
Meh.....this just wasn't for me...I kept waiting for the excitement to happen but it didn't...🤔 I do love the cover though
Finished midnight in everwood and read a small manga to try and fill the gap as fable is one of my january tbr's but since i finished my manga too i decided to start my january tbr's early!
I finished this book over breakfast and I am surprisingly blown away by it. I had no idea it was a Pirate book but for being a tale as old as time, it's a refreshing and adventurous YA pick. It was always pounding forward and focused heavily on Fable's experience with the world. Major Peter Pan vibes, maybe even a little COBAB. Somehow, the cleanness of the book also enhanced it (and I love romance and smut, truly).

So happy to add to my #adrienneyoung collection. Only negative I have is the Reese's Book club permanent sticker on Fable 🤦♀️
🌟🌟🌟🌟 Fable must find her place, and family, while trying to survive a life out on the sea. It‘s been four years since her mother drowned during a storm and her father abandoned her on a fishing island known to be home to thieves. Every day is a struggle…and every day Fable must survive and dredge to pay her way off the island.

DNF‘ed it. Wasn‘t motivated to read it, and couldn‘t hold my attention. Might put it on my AUDIOBOOK listening list for the future
Okay, #LMPBC friends, I finished this one. Anxiously awaiting book 2! It was so good. I could feel the sea around me when she dove under. Lots of complicated connections and Fable is so strong and smart for one so young. Loved it! #100YEARS100BOOKS #76 #BookSpinBingo #1 #BFC21 #TALESandTAILSforADULTS #3 #SERIES2021 #BUZZWORDATHON
I don‘t know why I liked this book so much. The plot didn‘t get interesting until I was way over halfway through, but there was something about it that made me want to keep reading. 4.5⭐️
Wow! I devoured this book! I was a little nervous at first that I wasn‘t going to like it but I loved it. I read it in 2 days and just didn‘t want to put it down. I‘ve never read this author before and I may have to check out her other books.
Don‘t want to say too much since it‘s the #LMPBC book, but I‘m so glad Chrissy also provided the sequel 🥰
There will be a third book in the pirate series by Adrienne Young 🎉🎉🎉.
