Based on the movie the Goonies I had high hopes. The plot was thin but I enjoyed the quick read. I was a bit disappointed that when a climax was happening the authors chose to skip the confrontation and instead allude to what happened.

Found a copy of third one and will get started. Should wrap it up and explain it all!

We are finally looking for a house so I‘m slowly packing things and rearranging others. We have a year to look and get a house (because I like to take my time and get it right the first time) so I‘m putting so of my special edition in my office

I thought this was beautiful! I have not watched the movie, but I don't think I will feel the same peace and awe as I did listening. There's action, but mainly, it's about respect for the land, nature, and each other. The description of the setting was so powerful; I could smell the rain, I was enraged by the waste.

a good quarter of this book is just the girls suffering bc percy‘s an oblivious moron (feat sally jackson wondering why her son is an idiot with girls)

Silly me meant to take a picture yesterday while we actually had a fire going. Instead, here's our empty fireplace 😂 ANYWAY book 3 + companion for the Chronicle of Ixia. There's a lot going on here as a bunch of threads are wrapped up for the trilogy (the Chronicles consist of three interlocking trilogies, plus a crapton of short stories). It gets intense, but also feels like the pace suddenly slows way, way down right at the end. Still, very ⬇

I don't know why, but I thought this was non-fiction. It's historical fiction. I rarely like historical fiction. I tried, but all of my historical fiction issues were in full-force for this read. I do think it would be enjoyable for historical fiction readers. That is all.

The Heroes of Olympus
A new series with a new Great Prophecy, a new quest, & demigods fighting monsters, but the gods (or at least some) are being more helpful, since it is prophesied that the enemy can only be defeated by demigods & gods working together.
My inner 12 y o greatly enjoyed the adventures even if at times the expansion of the universe in the first books felt rather forced. I'm keeping my eyes open for the next in the series, though
