Devoured in one ridiculous gulp
Finished this early this morning before work! A little crazy! I‘ll get it back to you as soon as I can get myself to the post office. Sarah - hope you got the book I mailed a few weeks ago - I think I forgot to post it here.
@TheAromaofBooks @bookandbedandtea
Also - this was the last book in the round? Do we want to do another round or take a break? Im fine whichever way.
@bookandbedandtea the book came today! @TheAromaofBooks I‘m running a little behind - I‘ll have it in the mail by Friday!
@Jerdencon This is on its way to you 😊
I'm enjoying some porch time before the heat gets oppressive and noticing that our flowers are acting like their blooming season is over. 😕 Which is a bummer and seems early, even for Colorado. Anyway, I'm starting this today. It sounds good @TheAromaofBooks and @Jerdencon
4.5 stars
I quite enjoyed this #audiobook, though it was very bittersweet. And that epilogue! Damn, it made me cry.
Absolutely brilliant. It's predictable but still brilliant. Lisa Jewell is an outstanding author.
5✨ This book was so good! A young teen disappears without a trace. Her family is torn apart for various reasons. What really happened is so dark and twisted it‘s hard to put down. I was constantly in a state of shock, and the desire to discover what happened was overwhelming. Very well written with suspense, extreme dislike to one of the characters, and an unsettled feeling that makes you crave more. #FableBC
15 year old Ellie Mack disappears on her way to the library. 10 years later her fractured family is still looking for answers. The book alternates between the present and the time leading up to the disappearance. Told from multiple viewpoints, but mostly Mom‘s. Despite figuring out fairly early what happened, the tension was palpable throughout my read. Very Creepy!
#52bookclub2023 Author with my name.

Laurel‘s precious daughter Noelle disappears and the most expected family discord follows. Despair, growth, love, heartache, and redemption all in one. 👍🏻 Definitely would have been a quick read if things hadn‘t been hectic. 🖤
Engrossing missing child book. Some of it was predictable but it was a quick read.
A page turner - I read it on a day! If you enjoyed Gone Girl, you will enjoy this. It has mystery, love, family dysfunction, traumatic upbringings….and is written in such a way that you adore the characters and can‘t put it down until the end.
A solid dark domestic thriller. It has a bunch of twists and turns, and even though I guessed who did it, the journey was entertaining, sad and harrowing. Also a solid audiobook listen. 4⭐️

In dealing with an overwhelming loss of her daughter, Laurel meets Floyd which feels so right then she meets Poppy, his daughter, her resemblance to her missing daughter Ellie is remarkable, it must be a coincidence, but is it! Who is Floyd and why is Poppy the spitting image of Ellie. What does Laurel uncover about Ellie‘s disappearance, was Floyd involved in Ellie‘s disappearance or did she just runaway!
Week 3 of school has my voice gone and scholars with their chaos but this baby that was loaned to me by one of my favorite teachers had me at HELLO! I‘m already on chapter 8 and can‘t wait to go to bed just so I can read. What are y‘all reading? #whatintheworldhappenedtoellie #whereisshe #imabouttobeupallnight
So I finish thi book today and i got to say it was really good. I was hooked from the begginig. The story keep me interested but I kind of guessed the twist But I still enjoyed it. The ending was a littlebit sad hich did surprised me. Overall i recommend this book.
4/5⭐️
This book was slow at the beginning, but then it got too good to put down. I knew nothing about this mystery/thriller when I started it, but I‘m glad I went in blind - it was a great surprise. I ultimately described the end of the book as a beautiful disaster. The characters are so well written , you are cheering for some and hate others. You keep trying to figure it out, but I wasn‘t prepared for the reveals.
A quick crime reading after a classic. It was good a for one reading. My problem with many new English crime novels is that the twist is very easy and I can guess it in the first part of the book.
Well. That was a bit bonkers but hooked me from the start! Solid thriller but super disturbing at times. I find a good thriller is just what I need between the heavier reads.
This was a great but harrowing read.
I can definitely say Lisa Jewell is becoming a favourite author 🤞🏻

Read for reading challenges.
I remember being twenty-one and thinking that my personality was a solid thing, that me was set in stone, that I would always feel what I felt and believe what I believed. But now I know that me is fluid and shape-changing.
I feel like this is one of those I need to go back and read in book form instead of audiobook.
This book was fine. Fairly predictable, with the exception of a few plot points that were not so much unpredictable as they were implausible. I listened on audio and the narrator did a good job, especially with the Irish accent.
“When I read a book it feels like real life and when I put the book down it's like I go back into the dream.”
I loved this book. I was hooked from the start.. so many twist and turns and totally unpredictable!
Does it ever mention how Ellie got pregnant with poppy in the first place ?
90ish pages in and I already have a theory. Don‘t spoil me if I‘m right or not please, but I‘m wondering if Poppy and Ellie are related somehow. Obviously not the same person but 🤔
A terrific book. I didn‘t want to put it down because I had to know what happened next. This one made me feel a whirlwind of emotions and the ending was actually fantastic.
This was the first book I read from this author and WOW I loved it! Definitely a page turner and I enjoyed thinking about all the possibilities that the storyline could take me. It was suspenseful with an ending I actually liked. If you have read any other books by Lisa Jewell I would love some recommendations.
An amazing thriller by Lisa Jewell.
Ellie Mack, 15, went missing in this suspenseful psychological thriller. In her book Then She Was Gone, Lisa Jewell emphasizes less on what actually happened to Ellie and more on how and why she disappeared, as well as the consequences for her family.
This was a twisted roller coaster ride. Just when you think you've got the story figured out the author adds another twist to the story.
This was such a devastating story. Laurel has a teenage daughter that simply vanishes one day with out any answers or leads. The story moves on with Laurel not being able to come to terms with the disappearance of Ellie. This book moved quickly and was rather dark. I found the ending to be a little predictable, but I still drank it all up.
THEN SHE WAS GONE by Lisa Jewell
Ten years after Laurel‘s daughter, Ellie, goes missing, she meets someone special and begins to piece her life back together, and repair the bonds with her remaining family. But alas, along the way of healing, there may be unexpected clues as to what happened to Ellie…
Full of subtle foreshadowing and a few good twists, this is a bizarre, enthralling tale that will rip your heart out—and then maybe put it back📖
A little over 100 pages in. I‘m very much enjoying this fast paced novel 😌
It was recommended by one of my coworkers that said it had her at the edge of her seat the entire time 😆
So far, so good!
I‘m having lunch in the United lounge, enjoying the wait for my flight to Hawaii. I love the fancy lounge. We had a free pass, so here I am. Good food and good book. I‘m glad I got here early!
Easily one of my top ten books. One of the first books where I didn‘t mind the narration jumping from character to character. I did have some open ended questions after finishing but would totally read it again. #thenshewasgone #psychologicalthriller #lisajewell
Loaded up my kindle tonight. This should keep me busy!
“A man who can‘t love but desperately needs to be loved is a dangerous thing indeed.”
“As the father of your children, as a friend, as someone who shared a journey with you and as someone who loves you and cares about you. I don‘t need to be married to you to be all those things. Those things are deeper than marriage. Those things are forever.”
This one managed to keep me guessing until (almost) the end. And I actually didn't mind the shifting points of view. I enjoyed getting into some of the other character's heads. It really rounded out the narrative for me. I suppose there is some content in this book that could be triggering for some. Wasn't an issue for me, but I thought I'd put it out there for anyone considering giving it a read. All in all, I enjoyed it.
