Direct. Great advice nuggets. Well organized points. Easy to implement ideas. Not overly impractical. Provides some intimate details of the author's life so you connect with her. Reality-based financial advise. Reality-based career advise. Not for people who like sugar-coated, sweet talks. #sarahknight #femaleauthor #womanauthor #careeradvice #finanicaladvice #quickread #practicaladvice #bluntadvice #gyst

5/5⭐ I never thought a book that had an expletive in the title and whose main analogy was based on the Chipmunks would be one of the most useful things I've read, but here we are.

I find it so much more accessible to get the intended advice from self-help books with this kind of humorous, straightforward, no-nonsense framing than ones with platitudes and flowery language.

(continued in comments)

hissingpotatoes I am 100% a Simon Chipmunk, based on the creepily accurate descriptions in the book. Early on I realized that even though I'm quite successful using lists and being organized at work, I don't do it for my non-work life. WHY, self? I've already downloaded a to-do app and IT FEELS AMAZING. Applying the methods of strategizing and committing at home has cleared so much of the mental clutter the book is designed to reduce, so yeah. Super successful. 5y
hissingpotatoes Also I felt directly called out in the perfectionism section, to the point that I had to pause reading to make room for my subsequent paradigm shift. Thanks, Sarah Knight. 5y
DGRachel I'm normally very anti-self-help books, but then you said Chipmunks and now I feel like I must have this book. 😆 5y
hissingpotatoes @DGRachel Yes, give it a try! Knight's approach is very palatable. And even if you don't get any practical use from it, the humor is worth it. I think it worked so well for me because I'd built up to it with a bunch of othwe nonfiction (Marie Kondo, interior design stuff, another of Knight's books), and a lightbulb clicked on while reading this one. 5y

Suddenly this self-help book turns horror because the perfectionism section somehow depicts an actual replica of my thought process. I've never felt so directly called out in all my life.

So this Audio book was super short and great! I was thinking girl wash your face would be what this one was. (Didn‘t like the girl one but loved this one). Also if you search online there are a bunch of free worksheets that correspond with the book

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Alert! I‘m on f*ck overload. No, it‘s not as fun as it sounds. 🙃 I give way too many f*cks, often about things that really aren‘t all that important. Hilarious and frank, Sarah Knight has encouraged me in a way that the self-aggrandizing Rachel Hollis could never. This book about prioritizing is exactly what I needed while in the midst home renovation. I haven‘t read her other books yet, but I will! And the foul language works for me.

nvhXesq Yay! This has made my day! 6y

I had extremely low expectations for this, so I was pleasantly surprised. People seem to love it or hate it. I think it's fine—not great, not horrible. Given that I've got a bunch of life experience already under my belt, I pretty much have my sh*t together. But, I appreciated the accessible, lighthearted way the author framed her advice.

In my final year of my masters program and I can‘t wait until the only books on my TBR don‘t include textbooks or articles for a class. As a result I have been hitting audiobooks pretty hard lately. Heading to Austin this weekend for a little break from school and hope to hit a bookstore!

Not gonna lie, I actually found the advice in this book very useful. I guess I‘ve been on a self help kick lately, and I really appreciated the actionable steps laid out here. I‘m a huge procrastinator so I‘m hoping I‘ll follow through with some of this stuff. I guess time will tell

This is not going to be a great book for everyone. If you hate swearing, stay away. If you don‘t like pop culture references, look elsewhere. Overall, this is basic, practical advice in a fun format for certain audiences, of which I am a part. Knight is right about my age, hence my amusement at her pop culture references, and I am a sweary mammajamma, so bonus points there. This is not groundbreaking, but it‘s a good reminder.

Krisjericho Also, Knight‘s narration has a familiar vibe, and made me think of Kristen Bell or Mindy Kaling. 7y

Given the title, I was hoping this book would be really funny. There were some funny parts, but I wanted more. This is a tongue in cheek self help book. There is some good advice, but nothing really earth shaking. I'm glad I borrowed this from the library rather than purchasing it. I can't see myself rereading this.

ReadingRover I got this book free at an event but haven‘t read it yet. I guess I haven‘t gotten my shit together yet 😝 I was hoping it would be funny. Now I‘m not so eager to read it. Have you checked out the Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck. I have looked at That yet either but I figure if it‘s gonna be a funny self help book it better damn well be funny! 7y

The goal management wisdom isn‘t much different than what I‘ve heard before but the author‘s funny, sweary, Alvin and the Chipmunks metaphor-y writing style really clicked with me. I definitely feel slightly more equipped to handle the sharp left turn into new year‘s resolutions that‘s about to happen after Christmas is over 😉

What can I say? Sarah Knight gets me. Her debut book, The Life Changing Magic of Not Giving a F**k Took Me by surprise and this one does the same. One minute you are caught up in the puns and outrageous humor that you almost don‘t even notice how she is calling out your bullshit and giving you keys to stop screwing up your life. #29by29

laurieluna I love this woman. My partner and I have done a lot less socially because of her philosophies, but we're a lot happier and dare I say better off for it! Sarah Knight is pretty life changing, and I only saw her ted talk, haven't even read the books. 7y

Okay, I'll admit I have issues with the #GetYourShitTogether mentality. Adulting is hard. My inner Simon is vacuuming again! #BookReference. This books was hilarious and informative. I like my self-help books how I like my men... serious and helpful with a side of snark and sass. You get that in this book. Sarah shows you how to start small while you DGAF and make changes in your life. #SpineLabelsSpeakVolumes #SubtleNotSubtle
