I‘m actually disappointed in this sequel. The first book was amazing, thrilling, and I couldn‘t put it down. The second book I had a really hard time getting through but I was committed to finishing it. I did not like the change in writing style from the first to the second book. This one seemed to drag on for awhile and the ending was less interesting than I had hoped. There was some really great parts but overall wasn‘t well put together.

Bird Box scared the heck out of me so I have been saving this one for a good Halloween scare. I wasn‘t expecting to relate so much to the story of a mom just trying to keep her teens alive when they think they are so much smarter and fight you on every damn thing 🤣 The whole blindfold wearing issue was interesting too after the last few years of mask wearing. So, not the scare I was looking for, but a relatable tale of motherhood.

I‘m in the mood for spooky season.

Ooo loved to hear more of the story :)
Picture of my mom‘s centerpiece from her weddings Just because I like pictures :)

Found this one on Libby. So... yay #AudioCommute book for now :) I am excited to listen to the “rest“ of this story!

No, Mel does not want to wear a blindfold for this photo shoot, thank you very much.
Bird Box gave me nightmares. Malorie...also gave me nightmares. I can think of very few scenarios scarier than needing to wear a blindfold 24/7 because if you happen to peek out at the world, you may or may not see a "creature" that will instantly give you a madness causing you to violently murder everyone around you, then yourself. (No thank you goodbye.)

At the conclusion of Bird Box, which I read a few years ago, I was left wondering what happened next to Malorie and her children. Admittedly, I often finish stories feeling curious about what happened next to the characters. So, when Josh Malerman wrote Malorie, where he tells the story of what happened next, I was super excited. #MountTBR

Catching up on the #Scarathalon daily photo prompts. I‘m hoping to get to this book with a black cover this month! #TeamSlaughter

It's been a long time since I've read Bird Box, but I thought this was an excellent follow up. I was very tense throughout this entire read. And I thought the ending was very satisfying.

I wasn‘t expecting to enjoy this one as much as Bird Box but I did!! Two things stood out: the relationship between Malorie and her 16-year-old son Tom reminded me of mine with my own son in a lot of ways, namely where Tom thinks Malorie‘s rules and ideas are old and outdated. And the divide/relationship between blindfold-wearers and those who do not reminds me of our life over the past year or two. Lots of layers to this one and so suspenseful.

So, so excited to be listening to Malorie after *loving* Bird Box a few weeks ago. I started holding my breath for Malorie, Olympia, and Tom immediately-as soon as the story started. I hope that level of suspense stays all the way thru the story. That‘s one thing I really enjoyed about Bird Box.
Cassandra Campbell narrates these characters so well.

I usually have a hard time with sequels after loving the first book but that was definitely not an issue with this one. The story flowed from where Bird Box ends. This was just as eerie and exciting as the first one. The ending was mind blowing to me and very satisfying. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Dropping off books at my local and this little section of book's is film's and TV.
Have you read any?
Are you adding to your TBR pile?

Characters were realistic but there was still something missing. They didn't make me to read on edge, being afraid for their well-being.
I can't tell almost anything without spoiling but this was overall enjoyable. Ending was a bit disappointing; it was way too unbelievable clean.

Thank you Misty for this Valentines surprise! I loved Bird Box, so I‘ll look forward to reading this sequel. 💕 Did you like it?

3½⭐ Narrator 🎧 Cassandra Campbell
Book one left me unfulfilled with the ending and I had hoped that book two would have come through for me and give me the answers I craved…but, I don‘t think it did. It sort of did…but not enough. The story was also a little slow at times. I really believe this Audiobook would‘ve been so much better with separate narrators for Tom and Olympia…especially since their POVs made this story actually worthwhile.

Fantastic ending to Bird Box! 💫💫💫💫💫 Five stars! This novel wasn't as intense as the first one but I liked them both. This novel to me had a good mixture of slow build on the scary parts and character driven the rest. Loved it! Has anyone watched the Netflix series? Is it any good? #Horror

Starts out with a bang then calms down. Time skips ahead and suddenly the kids are teenagers and they've been living the last decade in relative safety until something happens that spurs Malorie into action, luring her & the kids away from the protection of their home. The decision seems unlikely given the Malorie readers have come to know. Regardless, danger & mayhem & horror ensue, culminating in a satisfying ending. Can't compete with Bird Box.
A #sequel that does justice to Bird Box, Malorie is a fantastic novel. Well written and wonderfully executed. A #psychologicalthriller that explores the good and bad in people and what happens when it‘s clear that the creatures are not leaving. If you enjoyed #BirdBox , I suggest reading Malorie.

Last in this #batchofbooks is Malorie, the sequel to Bird Box! Incredibly excited to dive into this!
If you‘ve watched Netflix‘s Bird Box, would you be interested in a sequel? If you‘ve read Malorie, would you be interested in a screen adaption?

💖 @TheAromaofBooks (This has really motivated me to get through more books, gonna try and finish two more this month)
This was a nice addition to the story of Bird Box, it didn't quite have the same shock value, but I liked it. Malorie is a good title, because we really get to get in her head. She has to come to terms with who she has become and how she has raised her kids in this crazy world. 👇

🎧 Bird Box sequel. Thank you Libby!
The story was insanely tense. It takes place about ten years after their trip down the river. Tom & Olympia (Malorie‘s kids) are in their late teens & typical kids.
It was a quick read with multiple flashbacks. The author has painted a dark atmospheric world of paranoia, anxiety & fear as seen through the annoying MC. A quest. A twist.
If you loved Bird Box you will probably enjoy the sequel. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Finally some quiet time to relax with a book & some unicorn hot cocoa. My little guy is asleep so I don't even have to pay him the marshmallow tax! Painted two of my kid's bedrooms two colors each today and I have been looking forward to this moment alllll day!😅

This was the sequel none of us knew we needed! I am glad I didn‘t re-read bird box before diving in, a lot of the inner dialog highlights the influential parts from that story. It is a good journey with lots of suspense and thrill! I just want to know more about these dang ‘things‘ still! If you were invested in bird box, it is def. worth the read!

LOVED the book. I felt the ending was a bit rushed. I wasn't a fan of the teen & how his character development came to an end. The author is fantastic. He manages to create tension with simple and relatable writing. I think it has to do with him being a songwriter. You have to be able to do a lot and move people with your lyrics. That gives him an edge while writing fiction. I kept reading & devoured the book. I recommend it 100%.

Enjoying this book! 📖😃 What are you reading? #reading #book #sequel #birdbox2 #joshmalerman #readingchallenge #malorie

I picked this up today. I never anticipated a sequel to bird box, but now it seems so obvious... what happens to the world?! Has anyone read this? I am about 10% through and am unsure what to expect next.

This was such a great follow up to Bird Box! It starts off with a bang and doesn‘t let up on the tension and anxiety until very close to the end. We get to see Malorie‘s kids grow into teenagers and see how their view of this world they‘ve been born into - and their abilities because of that - differ so from Malorie‘s. Loved it! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I was excited to read this sequel after watching and enjoying Bird Box on Netflix. You find out what happens in the years after and watch Tom and Olympia grow in to their own as characters. The first 90% is great with some exciting twists, but the ending is so rushed. Maybe it will translate better in to a film? I feel like the end was written with this in mind and not as a stand alone novel.
