Sometimes I'm shocked by the creativity of some authors. This was a clever novel, and it was very unique. I probably should have started with the first book in the series, maybe then I could've gotten more involved in it.

As it stands, I was mildly entertained.

I would recommend this book for anyone looking for a mild mystery, fantasy novel.

I was not sure what to expect when I picked this book up. The Hazel Wood, while good, was a tad bit confusing towards the second half of the book. That being said, I was not exactly pumped about the this book but wanted to find out what happened. I ended up loving it but I was not too fond of the chapters switching back and forth between Alice and Finch. The ending was different then what I thought but it was so good!

Adventurous, dark, & mysterious sequel to The Hazel Wood. Great writing & rich, dark atmosphere. Not as magical/whimsical as the first, but still a very good read.
I didn't want to put it down for large sections. The ending was a little wishy-washy & convenient. Not as solid as I had hoped for, but worked alright. I am still very much in love with this world. I find the creepy stories & characters very intriguing.

So I will be 39 weeks pregnant tomorrow and this is the last book I will be reading before my little man comes into the world this Thursday. This book is a little slow for me and this is not the time for that to happen haha, but I will push through 💙🤰

Fun take on the fairy tale world visits our world. This is not the cute fairy tales of Disney but the old-school, very Grimm brothers. Kept me reading. Although would like to have read the fairy tales where these characters originate.

I enjoy this trilogy. The reviews seem to be mixed, but maybe the trick is not having very high expectations. For me the writing style is effortless and the mythology is intriguing. I don‘t particularly love the forced YA romance between Alice and Finch, but I‘m still drawn into the overall story enough for these books to be quick and satisfying. Plus, the covers are so pretty!

I really adored The Hazel Wood, which I listened to on audio, and was blown away by the second in the series, The Night Country. At least as good as the first if not better. If you love the dark side of fairy tales, these are both musts.

It was dark and beautiful, and I'm half hoping for more, but will totally be satisfied if it remains a duology as well. I'm not normally drawn to dark fairy tales, but the author has a magical way of writing that keeps me reading.

This was a great book to read. It was full of great twists. I love how it is inspired by fairy tales. The ending made me really happy. I would definitely read it again. This is definitely one of my favorite stories.

I liked the Hazel Wood but this was a bit meh! There were bits I enjoyed but on the whole I wasn't really invested in the story.

The perfect book to stay up past your bedtime to finish!

I did not know how there could possibly be a continuation of the first book but Albert did it. With further character development and more of that Grimm's style fairy telling that I love. 4/5 stars

Taking some time to relax while the world around me goes crazy. I needed some major downtime, so while my husband and sons are fishing I am enjoying some time reading with my daughter.

3.5 stars it was just meh. I don‘t know if it‘s just because I couldn‘t really focus on the story or if it could have been better. I did like that Alice and Finch made it back to each other.

I enjoyed the follow up to The Hazel Wood. I still loved the first one more because the world was so fresh for me and took me by surprise. But this one still is captivating and includes more of my favorite new dark fairytales that are the cornerstone for the story.

Well in a rare plot twist, I truly enjoyed this sequel much more than the first book, The Hazel Wood. While I loved the concept behind The Hazel Wood, I felt the execution was problematic. The sequel feels more sophisticated, more refined, but retains the wildly imaginative tone and lush, evocative writing. The story also gets some satisfying resolution. Thanks #NetGalley for the ARC. Great story!

This was good! But it wasn't quite as good as I felt it could have been. The start was really strong, if slow, but I loved the new and old characters so was happy to go along with it. However the ending felt like the author ceased to care about the majority of the cast and I left wishing there was going to be a third book.
