A rambling but entertaining memoir of Hanff's working life, which she credits to her studying English literature from the published lectures of an Oxford Fellow known as Q. If you're fond of 84, Charing Cross Road or an English lit fan, you'll want to read this. (It's available via Open Library.)

Sometimes your TBR pile gets re-arranged because a library hold or two comes in. Work is crazy right now so mostly doing audio books. Very thankful I get to start this hardcover today. 84 Charring Cross Road is one of my favorite cozy books. I am interested to see what Hanff‘s life was after that book. #summerendreadathon

Sentimental, but not saccharine. If you've read 84, Charing Cross Road, this builds out from there - some background to how the book came to be, and subsequently how the author's life was shaped by it, and intermittently slipped out of the public eye. Interesting to see an older person deal with the trappings of being KNOWN. Will definitely be reading The Duchess of Bloomsbury Street as well. Blame the '80s for this cover. 🤦🏼‍♂️

I love Helene Hanff's books. That question people ask about who, living or dead, would you invite to dinner, is answered easily for me. She's quirky and edgy and quite a spirit in her writing as I'm sure she was while living. I loved this telling of “84, Charing Cross“ making it to the stage and her life surrounding her other writings and struggles. Check this off for the letter “Q“ for the #litsyAtoZ challenge @bookishmarginalia

I just love Hanff‘s writing; this is my next up for #litsyatoz challenge for the letter Q. This will be my 3rd read of hers; not sure the total number of books she has authored.

After finishing Q's Legacy, I had to go back and re-read 84, Charing Cross Road. A lovely book of how 84 came to be, and her life after 84. Her voice came through splendidly. Hanff always makes me smile and laugh. Charming.

I do love Helene Hanff. This is one I haven't read yet and it's like catching up with an old friend. #catsoflitsy

At first this seemed like a rehashing of 84 Charing Road;however, the author‘s humor and irreverence began to perp through at about the halfway point and it just made it delightful.

Lovely treat! A look at how Helene came to write her earlier book, 84, Charing Cross Road. Her witty, chatty style of writing is delightful and enjoyable to read. I‘ll recommend reading 84 CCR and The Duchess of Bloomsbury Street first for a better appreciation of this book.

After reading the first three ones, I needed to read this one (after @LeahBergen told me about it). I loved it, as I loved the other ones before. Hanff has such an entertaining way of writing her books, it is always a pleasure to read them. 😍

September 18: Aesthetic Fictional Setting - I adore books that take place in a bookstore or bookshop! They have a certain magic to them that is hard to explain, but this quote comes close. I'm finally dipping into Q's Legacy (after several years of "saving" it because I loved the other two so much ?).

In this memoir, Hanff tells of how she came to write 84, Charing Cross Road and pays tribute to her "mentor". I'm only on the first chapter and already in love.

Day 16 #startswithQ #maybookflowers When I was weeding out bookshelves and boxes of books a couple of weeks ago, I came across 2 books that my grandparents had given to me for my very first Christmas. I'm so pleased to have them still, lo these many years later. I couldn't find (or rather didn't have the patience to weed through all the listings to find) this book A Quiet Place. I do want to read Helene Hanff's Q's Legacy though.

My sister refers to my room as the catacombs...difficult to maneuver and books surround you. I have books upstairs too; they often get lonely for one another, but until I live in a bigger house they must fit in where they can. I wouldn't say no to Belle's library 😍 #shelves #nevertoomany
