Finished!! I cannot recommend listening to this book enough. It was fantastic, just the right amount of horror and all the toxic romanticism I was told to expect.

Lunch (egg and cheese ona cheddar chive biscuit and a gingerbread latte) and starting part II of this novel before running errands 📖
First off much respect to Anne Rice. While most of us think we could write a book, she wrote not only one but several. She gave up Catholicism in support of her son who was gay. One of her books, Cry to Heaven, gave me a huge inkling I might be gay. However, I read Interview back in 9th grade and thought it was boring. I‘m rereading it again for a bookclub next week and man those feelings came back. Her writing is a heaping helping 👇🏼
Decided to start a reread of the chronicles. Then decided it is to be a chronological readthrough of Rice's work. I dunno, I'm just here for the atmosphere.
Forever obsessed with these two idiots though. This is probably my fifth time reading this one. It's interesting though because I haven't picked it up in years and I noticed that I was placing plotpoints from the film into my memories of the novel when they just aren't there.
The saga of “where, o where, did my package go?” has come to a comedic end. It‘s been found! Thank you so much @Ellie_H for my #LittleChristmasSwap! I can finally finish the book instead of constantly requesting it from the library 😂 how did you know olive green was one of my favorite colors?! Love it!

Reread Interview for the first time in about twenty years, for book club, and yes, Lestat is still the moste melodramatique™️ and Louis is still mostly whiny (jfc man).
New appreciation for: New Orleans as a character, and the grudging respect paid to the African slaves in part 1; it's still icky, but at least they're recognized as skilled and powerful antagonist.
I wanted to read this because it‘s a classic among sff as well as one of the original paranormal romances but I absolutely could not do this. I found the characters insufferable and I was forcing myself to pick this up and read it. This gave me similar vibes to Practical Magic where it was trying to be deep and tell me something but it just came off pretentious. I will say Anne Rice can write atmosphere so I‘m willing to try her other books.
Continuing this book 📖 while enjoying a caramel macchiato and egg and cheese on a cheddar chive biscuit. Then running errands. It‘s a beautiful day here - low 50s and sunny!
2024 was a disappointing reading year for me. I read a lot of one star reads and dnfed a lot more. But these were the most disappointing. I had high hopes for all of them but they just didn‘t give me what I wanted.
I can‘t fit my reasoning in the caption so if you want to read my in depth discussion you can check that out here: https://wildwoodreads.com/2024/12/28/disappointing-books-of-2024/
Cafe au lait and a little reading time before going to Trader Joe‘s ☕️ 📖 🧛

Infusion also happens to be appropriately timed for #IBDAwarenessWeek
Is this my umpteenth re-read? Yes. And I don‘t care. This is one of my comfort novels, so I was glad I could use it to fulfill my Double #BookSpin prompt for July. I love Louis and his ever-present quest to simply understand what the point of his existence even is. I love Lestat‘s sassy ass. I‘ll read it again. I‘ve seen me do it.
Finished the second season of IWTV and it was amazing. I also got thrown down a Devil's Minion rabbit hole

A very specific bingo board for IWTV Season 2 if anyone wants to use or if you are reading the books ... though some squares won't work
#HauntedShelf
I want to watch the second series of Interview with the Vampire this October. I found an official season 2 bingo board but I might make my own since that does not have enough sassy Daniel
Louis‘ character growth
I got good news from the orthopedic doctor. I‘m halfway to complete mobility again. So I celebrated with some books. The spooky book season has begun 👻👻👻

Rice is wordy, and she loves an ellipsis, which gives you the feeling of reading extended texts from a baby boomer. Full review: https://keepingupwiththepenguins.com/interview-with-the-vampire-anne-rice/

I'm excited! Finally carved out some time to binge watch the TV show. I am ready to be destroyed!

🕯 this book is in my house since forever, I think my mom bought it in 1999 or 2000 (the price is still in Lire and not Euros) but I've never read it..
@Eggs @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks
I love that I saw this on tiktok and then again on Instagram… and it probably originated on tumblr 😂
“We are immortal. And what we have before us are the rich feasts that consciousness cannot appreciate and mortal men cannot know without regret. God kills, and so shall we; indiscriminately He takes the richest and the poorest, and so shall we; for no creatures under God are as we are, none so like him as ourselves, dark angels not confined to the stinking limits of hell but wandering His earth and all its kingdoms.”
Sensual. Spellbinding. Horrifying. Interview With The Vampire follows Louis‘ recounting of his mortal and immortal life. Struggling with the morality of being damned, Louis conveys a look into the human condition only a vampire may see. This book‘s ending left me speechless with righteous fury. 5/5 and one of the most profound works I‘ve read in a while.
The hold this book had over me in the early 90s. Haha. And then me and my BFF were obsessed with the movie when it came out (we were 13). Classic 😂😂 #scarathlonphotochallenge #vampire #blackcatcrew
🧛🏻 Finally getting round to this one 🧛🏻
Overall, I was surprised with how much I enjoyed this…I have been avoiding this since my teens as it was my sister‘s favorite book when we were in high school, which automatically made the book, and her subsequent half-assed attempt to be a gothy vampire for a year or two, lame! 😂 I see why she enjoyed this at that age, this is much too melodramatic at times. Overall though, there‘s a pretty solid story at its core 3.5/5.
It‘s only Tuesday but it‘s giving end of week vibes, I can‘t wait to get home!
A spooky reread for #scarathlon 🧛♂️ something I‘m finding so strange about entering my late twenties is there being adult books I read as a teen that I realise I have almost no memory of now. I think i read this when I was 13 in my first gothic romance no one understands me phase (some would argue I‘m still there…). I realised rereading it that Claudia was literally the only thing I remembered so it felt very fresh. #skeletoncrew
I finished the first season of Interview with the Vampire and I'm not sure how I feel. I loved the updates to the story: the timeline, the costumes, Louis and Lestat's relationship, and the graphics. I'm a little torn about Claudia and how the season ended. However, will I watch the second? Yes.

I.am.obsessed!!!!
I don't have AMC so I was very excited to see Interview with the Vampire (along with other shows) added to Max. I just saw the first episode and loved it! My teenage obsession with Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles came back and I could not stop commenting throughout the first episode. Yes, Louis's story is very different from the book, but it goes well with the setting.

This is a quiet, melancholy vampire story and so descriptive! You can close your eyes and just visualize ALL the details. I‘m glad I finally got around to this one and it was delightful on audio. I didn‘t realize it was written in the 70‘s and that it is the first in a series. I‘ll probably pick up the next at some point.
