Starting this gothic retelling of Jane Eyre today, I have high hopes for this one
I'm not entirely sure what #dollydearest means, but I figured it was from slasher films — a genre I am woefully ignorant of — so I hoped a serial killer Jane Eyre retelling would suffice.

Jane Eyre is one of my all time favorites so I am pretty excited about this satirical take
TFW you get so many books on a roadtrip that you have to use the panoramic option ❤️❤️
Bookstores visited:
The Booklegger, Huntsville, AL
McKays, Chattanooga, TN
Mr K‘s, Asheville, NC
Unclaimed Baggage - Scottboro, AL (not a bookstore per se, but major book haul acquired)
Taco thinks this is going to be great!
Finished and loved! 💙🖤
I savored this book. It was a treat with interesting characters and settings. I love a strong female lead and Jane Steele lived up to that! Highly recommend if you like classics, Dexter, historical fiction and unique books. 5⭐️
Currently reading. I was hooked by the description “Jane Eyre gets a dose of Dexter” when I found this at an independent bookstore I visited in Northern Virginia last year. It‘s intriguing and different than what I usually read. I‘m really liking it and am looking forward to seeing how it ends.

I loved this book! I actually haven‘t read Jane Eyre yet, and I often have difficulty with the language of the classics. Now I can say that I am excited to read it. This book had quotes from Jane Eyre accompanying each chapter and I‘m intrigued. The main character, Jane Steele, is a huge fan of Jane Eyre and feels like her life closely mirrors the hardships and loneliness of Jane Eyre‘s. It has been described as Jane Eyre with a wicked twist!
“Handkerchiefs should remain where they are needed, don‘t you agree?”
This Jane is Jane Eyre with a spine of steel, self-awareness to the stratosphere and a really, really kickass remix of Brontë's masterpiece.

Thank you so much @jenniferw88 for my #LitsyLove #WinterSwap 💜
I‘m sorry I‘m late! Got home super late last night. I can‘t wait to read this book and have already sampled the jelly sweets!! Stan had to get involved too of course 😂
Thank you @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks and @TheBookHippie for organising 💕
I love my family and seeing them but sometimes I have to hide away and read a few chapters! Happy thanksgiving to those celebrating and may the rest have a lovely day!
It‘s been too long since I‘ve been on Litsy! This past week has been a killer. I‘ve had little time to read but I made some time tonight! 💜 I hope everyone is doing well, trying to catch up on post!
Jane Steele is not #sorry for the things she has done in the name of vengeance. Please don‘t compare her to the governess whose name unfortunately resembles her own...she may just have to take her revenge out on you!
I so need to read this whole book! It‘s original and witty, and yet I had to put it down ages ago to read other things. Some day, Jane, some day...but please don‘t hurt me for taking so long to read your story! #Movember
Music" had different release formats with a number of remixes commissioned for the song. This song was remixed ad nauseum. With brilliant results. My champion of brilliant remixes is Jane Eyre. Prequel, manga, graphic novels, cozy mystery, fantasy mystery and serial killer. Brilliant.

My new #FavoriteFallTreat is homemade hot chocolate! I get to add a few spices and can control how sweet it it. It‘s why I don‘t like instant or bought hot chocolate. (I totally spilled a little taking the pic 🤫😅) I add a little orange zest and it‘s perfect! going to read a little since our internet is out all over for whatever reason. No homework until it‘s back! 🤷🏻♀️ oh the horror 🤧😝😂

I enjoy watching #football but always have a book close by! My home team doesn‘t play until 8 tonight so I did this early. I‘ll be watching with my friend too so more talking than reading then 😂

I just finished rereading JANE EYRE, and then I somewhere came across this book, described as Jane Eyre mixed with Dexter. That‘s right—a Jane Eyre-esque serial killer. When I saw the line, “Reader, I murdered him” in the book description playing off the classic line in JANE EYRE, I knew I had to give it a read. I‘m a few chapters in and really enjoying it!
This is the #mmdflightpick for September, although I had already purchased it on sale for Kindle because of its ties to Jane Eyre. Jane Steele is quite an independent woman for her time, and she has a tendency to take matters into her own hands. I wish I had had more time to read over the past week. I would have devoured this book much more quickly! It‘s definitely worth a reread! #ModernMrsDarcy #mmdbookclub

Re-reading for #MMD Flight Pick for September 2019
This is a dark yet delightful tale about an orphan whose life mirrors that of Jane Eyre. I read this a couple of years ago but I didn‘t appreciate it as much as I did with this reading. Not only does Jane Steele‘s life mimic that of Jane Eyre‘s, but Lyndsay Faye‘s writing style mimics that of Charlotte Brontë. Jane is a most likable serial killer — “Reader, I murdered him.“
New library hold just came through! Holiday weekend jackpot. A character that is Jane Eyre meets serial killer Dexter. How can I resist?
Jane Steele is quick to say she is nothing like a very similarly named orphan who finds love and heartache among the pages of Charlotte Bronte‘s best known novel...Steele likes to think that she takes revenge against those who harmed her. Simply, she murders them.
But, when Mr Thornfield comes into her life, she has to decide #isthislove or is it something else. I had to put this book down ages ago and have to get back to it soon! #ayupaugust
A friend gifted me a pile of paperbacks and I chose this one to take on vacation. I'm enjoying it very much!
“Reader, I murdered him.”
Jane Eyre meets #MeToo meets Dexter. A rollicking good time with a heroine who is not going to put up with men‘s bad behavior.
Loved it!

Running a bit behind today. I thought of a #SweetJane being Jane Austen, Jane Bennet & Jane Eyre, but then I decided to go with the opposite & pick the decidedly less sweet Jane Steele. This imagining of Jane Eyre as a serial killer is a fun read. ❤️
#pricedrop! GIMME!
I just realized the pockets of my new cardigan are the perfect size for a trade paperback! To say I am pleased is an understatement. 🤓📚
This was so good that I listened to the whole book all yesterday.
Jane Eyre meets Dexter meets a bit of Sherlockian mystery.
Plot and writing kept me tied to my headphones all day.
#AudioEggColouring and balcony cleaning ? (I like the paper towel more than the eggs. Maybe I should dry it and frame it?)
This book is much more interesting.
"Reader I murdered him."

This wasn‘t a retelling of Jane Eyre so much as it was a slightly campy, loving, homage. Told in three sections from the perspective of our ‘killer‘ heroine, there are many moving parts, which all come together nicely in the end. It is a very entertaining and satisfying read. I would recommend this to fans of Bronte, historical fiction, crime, suspense and romance. #HistoricalFiction
I don't mean to brag but... I am KILLIN' IT with #DollarTree finds recently!
I borrowed this from the library (one of my first #blameitonLitsy reads!) and absolutely loved it. I'm excited to have the hardcover in my personal library now 🤗
I met Miss Jane Steele last year, and she is definitely a lady who decides #wholiveswhodies. And if you treat her or her friends badly, you are pretty sure to end up on the death list 💀
#MusicalNewYear
I‘m getting sick so stayed home all day. While binging some Game of Thrones I moved books around and this is my tbr shelf. It‘s the shelf in my room so, I figured if I had to look at them everyday I would read more of them. 😂
It looks messy but in my head it makes sense. 🤪
This is so good! I was afraid it would ruin Jane Eyre, but it is a delightful Gothic homage, deviously well-written, and lots of fun.
Thank you so much @thebookmagpie for the book & chocolate - neither of which will last long. #jolabokaflodswap @MaleficentBookDragon
