Not posted here in a while! I‘ve just had to buy two bookcases to deal with this (I already have six...) - anyone else‘s collection out of control?! 😅

Here's some of what I've been reading this week including my pick of the week, An American Marriage. For more if my thoughts, see my blog 😊 https://tinyurl.com/yc7vm33z
My overly optimistic May #TBR - finished Aurora Burning and two Miss Marple books and hoping to get a bit of a run going 🤞😊 what's everyone else planning on reading?
I was a little disappointed in AR - the plot was great but I found the multiple narrators lacked distinct voices and the Whedon/Marvel-esque dialogue was really overdone. This was a vast improvement, especially in the second half of the book. I felt the characters became more recognisable as individuals and the plot really upped the stakes. It's not quite the level of the Illuminae Files, but not much is. The ending really left me wanting more.
It‘s finally finished! Or thereabouts 😂 this is of course the most important room in the house to me... the one where I keep my books 😉slightly worried as I‘ve already run out of shelving space despite doing some serious weeding 🙈 #bookshelves #library #bookish
I say every few months that I'm going to come back here and it never quite pans out but I'm going to give it a go anyway. I'm doing some rereads of old favourites over the summer while I write my thesis and this is the first one I'm tackling. Thoughts so far: I'm cringing at some of the “-isms“ in this book - which is very of its time - but also totally remembering why I loved it so much. Check #magpiememories for my summer of rereading!
I'm in the process of moving so am definitely behind not just on posting here (as usual!) but on pretty much everything. Took some time out over today and yesterday with this gem though. Absolutely hilarious - like genuinely spit out your drink funny - and very interesting, especially if you've actually been to Wigtown. I hope to go back many, many times :)
Today‘s current read 😊 so far so good. I‘m also partway through The Proposal. #boutofbooks
My current read! #boutofbooks #yearofmarvellousreading

Reading about Edinburgh in Edinburgh 😊 #yearofmarvellousreading
I‘ll start my uni work any minute, I swear... #yearofmarvellousreading
I feel this expression very deeply #yearofmarvellousreading
I feel very Seen #yearofmarvellousreading
First book of my #yearofmarvellousreading done and WHAT a book. It‘s an unbelievably creepy and atmospheric exploration of the way women have been hated and feared and the way that religious oppression and mob mentalities can be twisted against them. Alys is a fantastic main character and I was really rooting for her to win out despite everything being against her. Can not recommend enough!
My Year of Marvellous Reading
So I‘ve not been around here much this last year. I‘ve just started a Masters course and you might think the last thing I need is a new project. But now that I‘m doing a lot of more serious reading for uni I want to be able to read things that grab me straight away, and I want to document it here! Here‘s to a #yearofmarvellousreading and FINALLY getting to some of my most anticipated books.
My super optimistic #24in48 pile! It‘s nearly 3pm here and I‘m just home from work so I doubt I‘ll make a full 24 hours but I‘m happy to be participating! #tbr #bookstack
These illustrated editions are 🔥🔥🔥
#boutofbooks Day 4: finished these over the last few days but haven't had a chance to post! Now to put together a new TBR 🤔
This was amazing and utterly heartbreaking! I'd never heard of the Brethren before and it's astonishing and horrifying to discover they still exist within the UK to this day. Stott is very even-handed in telling her story, with a magnanimity and compassion that I find so impressive. Definitely worth picking up, especially if you're interested in cults and the psychological effect they have on people. #boutofbooks
Starting TBR for #boutofbooks 😊
I've been putting off reading this one, but today - which would have been his 70th birthday - seems as good as any. #GNUTerryPratchett
And now for the return journey 🚂🚂🚂👠👠👠
Loving this so far! Perfect book for a train journey 🚂💕
My 50th book so far this year -1/3 of my Goodreads goal 💪💪💪 unfortunately I wasn't mad about this one, it should have been right up my alley but felt lacklustre and just when it would pique my interest it would deviate away from the thing that interested me!
1. Manchee!
2. The Disc!
3. Ruby Oliver 💕

Thanks @Tove_Reads 😊

3. This one is hard, but Literary Fiction if I'm pushed 😄
4. All pineapple, all the time
5. Mr Darcy, but I've not read/seen Gone With the Wind 🙈
Thanks @readherwriteher 😊

Is this thing still on?
(I've not been here in a while!)
It's 3.30 here and I'm finally getting the chance to sit down and read for #24in48. I doubt I'll make it to 24 hours now but it'll be nice to see how much I can get in 😊
These two are projects that will keep me going, one for months, the other for the whole year. Anyone else got any longer term projects going?
I'll be picking from these for #BoutofBooks - I think I'm going to start with Family! What will you be reading?
#riotgrams Day 1 - shelfie! This is my favourite bookshelf - it's still a work in progress but it's coming along nicely 😊
