Just finished Neverwhere again, it‘s like my 4th time. The audio read by the author is just, perfection. Perfect for fall, I‘m channeling those vibes… Its sweltering in Texas right now y‘all. We are not ok. 🔥

Finally got around to reading this one, the story was brilliant and the illustrations furthered the immersion into the whirlwind of the story. This story is one of few that I immediately wish I could re-experience for the first time.
Who else is still processing the Neil Gaiman news? He was one of my favorites. My thoughts are with the brave women that came forward.

From the prologue: The night before he went to London, Richard Mayhew was not enjoying himself.
From Chapter One: She had been running for four days now, a harum-scarum tumbling flight through passages and tunnels.
"Whatchyouwant?" She asked Richard, suspiciously.
"Nothing," said Richard. "I really don't want anything. Nothing at all." And then he realized how true that was; and how dreadful a thing it had become. "Have you ever got everything you ever wanted? And then realized it wasn't what you wanted at all?"

My door would go here.
This book spoke to something in my heart that has been trying to find its voice as I adjust to life back home after traveling around East Africa for a while...although I don't plan to follow in Richard's footsteps at the end, I miss my friends there dearly and I would definitely like to return...

Excited for this one. Not even exactly sure what it's about yet but I'm hoping it'll help me to sink into this lovely October! 🎃🖤🐈⬛👻
One of those times where the blurb does not do the scope of the story justice. Neverwhere brought to life a world lived between the cracks and within the shadows. For once the heroes of our story are not wise nor particularly brave, but they are determined. I enjoyed discovering London Below and all its dangers.
Thank you @behudd for the recommendation! The audiobook was a fun time.

REALLY enjoyed this - interesting to discover this was originally a TV script that became a novel. I really like Gaiman‘s writing style, and his very British (and Pratchett -esque) humour! This got me a little further in #PromptMaze and I‘m including as a theme read for #TeamMonsterMash as definitely filled with nasty creatures! #Scarathlon

Signed copies were sold out by the time a group of us were able get our Neil Gaiman books. I still bought Neverwhere for the memory of a joyful evening and to replace the copy I lost. Now I‘m curious to take a drive to Menomonie and check out “Neil‘s mirror.”
I liked it. It was fun to read. I guess I am looking for something to make me think about it long after reading. This is not it. No fault of its own. Except I was angry about Huntress. That fight scene was lame for someone of her prowess. A lifelong planned fight so quickly killed. And was it his fate to face the boat? I don‘t know. I get it. Made for show movie turned book. It was fun.

Working my way through Gaiman's novels. I enjoyed this one immensely.
I loved the world of London Below. Such a dark and gritty yet magical place. I liked seeing it all from Richard's perspective as an outsider, or 'upworlder'. He gets pulled into the world unwillingly and ends up tagging along with Door on her quest to avenge her family.
This was such a beautiful, slightly creepy, wildly imaginative, quirky, funny, and strange read! Like nothing I‘ve read in a long time!! 🖤
This was my first book by Gaiman and i really enjoyed his style. I would've loved to get to know more about London Below though, the world of the lost and forgotten, about how it came to be, how did things “fall through the cracks“. Maybe in the sequel...?

One of my favorite Neil Gaiman books. Love the concept of London below.
@Branwen thanks for the heads up on this gorgeous edition

EDIT: I just realised that this is the very first physical copy of anything by Gaiman I have ever owned.
Do I already own multiple editions of this book? Yes, yes I do BUT, and this is very important, none of them look like this new paperback edition (out today). Of course I had to have it. I also had to do a short read aloud for my co-workers to introduce them to Mr. Croup and Mr. Vandemar. Love. This. Book. ❤️
Neil Gaiman never disappoints. He has quite the imagination. I feel like people like this are like Peter Pan, they never quite grow up.
#bookspinbingo #JumpStart2021- Fireworks (there were Fireworks in the book, I'm going with it) @TheAromaofBooks @Clwojick @Lizpixie
Neverwhere is a dark tale that takes the underbelly of London and runs away with it wrapped up in wild imagination. The world-building is brilliant as the characters venture deeper into London Below. The characters are phenomenal. Each one is filled to the brim with complexity and their character arcs will keep readers entertained. #darkfantasy

I read a handful of Gaiman this year and these were 2 of my favorites.
I struggled with this book because of Richard. The story line is something I was interested in, but I never developed an emotional attachment to the characters. I may have read this in a time I just wasn‘t prepared for it.
4.8 ⭐️
Incorporating themes from classic childhood favorites, as well as, a touch of mythology made the story super intriguing and mesmerizing. This has been my third book that I read by Neil Gaiman, and he‘s never disappointed. I chose this book as my December book club read, and while the rest of the members will not agree, I found the story to be so much fun and absolutely worth the read.
This was fun and I enjoyed it a sort of Alice in Wonderland for the modern age. Richard has a normal life until he gets entangled with a mysterious girl he comes across on the street. I liked the weird demi world of London below and found the bonus story of the Marquis and his coat to be the best part. I would definitely read more stories set in this world.

Welp I finished nothing at all this week when my goal was to at least finish Neverwhere but I still made good progress on it and Moby Dick.
#WeeklyForecast
My ultimate goal is to finish Moby Dick, Neverwhere, and Planetfall so that I can go immediately into the upcoming #BookSpin picks happening this week.
#BookReport
I had a week that looks less accomplished than it was because I only finished one book but I caught up with the #MobyDickBR in which I was almost two weeks behind. Vicious was great and I'd already be reading the second one if I didn't have other commitments.
#WeeklyForecast
My goal this week is to finish Neverwhere and Planetfall as well as keep up with Moby Dick.
A beautiful and gripping fantasy novel.
Neil Gaiman paints a beautiful fantasy world which is at once magical, intriguing and at once scary, gory and filthy. The use of humour throughout the book is fantastic and leaves you gasping for more.
I love the beginning of the month when all the RNG reading is revealed. This month for my #CalibreRoulette picks I have Neverwhere and Planetfall which both sound good. They also count for my Read All the Books Challenge for the SFFBC on Goodreads.
