For the past year I‘ve struggled to get my 12 year old reading for fun again - just trying to find books that engage him - he‘s so picky! Thank god for these two series which he has been devouring over the past six weeks - highly recommended if you have a tween or teen that needs something as fast moving and compelling as Hunger Games etc.

So many wonderful things! Amy, @MommyOfTwo , you have spoiled me. I can‘t wait to fall into the world of Nyxia and I will be sipping one of these amazing teas and munching on yummy popcorn when I do. Listened to on Drive to and from Arkansas. I love the narrator- the story was great too- it was its own story but reminded me of Enders Game and Hunger Games. @Avanders this has been on my IRL forever because of you- I can see why you love it.

My #bookspin for May and fire for #Beltane.

This book is a futuristic space setting on a spaceship. Emmett, is onboard a space shuttle sent by tech giant Babel with a bunch of other “poor” people to go to an alien planet to mine a material called Nyxia. They soon discover Babel‘s true intentions in the sequels.

I thought at first this might be a Christian book which is not a bad thing, but it turned out to be so much better. Hunger Games in space.

Received my #SFMBC book back today! This will be my next book. I‘m looking forward to seeing everyone‘s thoughts. This was a fun group to be in for the last two years.

This is a good book, If a bit slow at first. I tried reading it a while back, but sort of gave up after the first chapter. However, I tried it again later and it was actually an excellent book! I'm about halfway through and enjoying it tremendously.

Done Nyxia! What a great read! Loved the sci fi atmosphere with the element of competition! No time for a break though, my stack beside my bed keeps growing.

I'm so proud of my first ever sewing project - book sleeves!!! I will definitely be making more.

I thought this was an interesting concept. It's like hunger games but their actually all training to do a job. Now to read the second book!

Is this book "Hunger games in space"? Yeah, probably. But it's so exciting that I just couldn't put it down and when I ended I actually screamed "whaaaat?" and had to check the next installment. So, if you like actiin and adventure, a few diverse characters and Hunger Games, check it out.

Wow, it's only May and we are in the 90s with HIGH humidity. It's miserable out! In other news, I finished this one last night. It was a good book set in space. Nothing overly spectacular but I enjoyed it. Had some similar feels to Hunger Games, but in outer space. I do want to read the next one to find out what happens next on Eden.

Evening snack (maybe overindulged a bit) and the end of this book. Really wish I was able to read more than I have lately. I could use the distraction from life and the world.

Finally getting a chance to relax with my current read. This book doesn't blow me away but it's a quick and easy read. Also updating my book planner, which I use to track my reads. Wish tomorrow wasn't Monday.

So I had no idea what I wanted to read next. I decided to start this one again as it seems like a quick read. I haven't read many books set in space but the few I have read I enjoyed. I'm about a third of the way through and it seems like a fun story so far.

4.5 ⭐️s. I believe the audio version is what deserves that extra half star-- excellent narration.

As for the story, I loved our protagonist, all of the characters with their different (If maybe a little stereotypical at times) personalities, the challenge, the setting, the goals, etc. I was totally pulled in. And I did immediately start book 2...

This one reminded me of Hunger Games, but with one of my favorite subjects...space! I enjoyed the challenges Emmett faced and friendships/enemies he made. I am excited for the next book in this trilogy so I can learn what happens next!

I could not have been reading a more perfect (space themed) book to try out one of my amazing new (space) bookmarks! So far this book reminds me of Hunger Games (if it took place in space) and I‘m really enjoying it ❤️ @StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego

Taking a break for the first time today and starting this new one!

Others have compared this book to a sci-fi Hunger Games, and other than having slightly more than one winner at the end, that‘s pretty much what it is. I loved the entire premise from the start and was pulled into the story immediately, which hasn‘t happened a whole lot lately. Nothing like “coming-of-age“ in outer space! Loved it - 4.5.

I am very much looking forward to @DuckOfDoom 's #sfftbrchallege. It is very reminiscent of last year's #beatthebacklist challenge. This year's beat the back list challenge was no where near as fun and the girl running it is pulling back and doing no more.

I love the guides (similar to the #booked2018) that let you find a category to match your book too. Very excited to participate.

Not how I wanted to spend my night. Possible kidney infection.

I liked this ya a lot. Space and also a competition and also a big evil company with questionable motives. It was a good story.

10 teenagers are picked to travel to a planet to mine Nyxia. They are trained and pitted against each other to see which 8 will make it. I really enjoyed this book and was ready to order the next one. To my disappointment it isn‘t out until July!!!!!!!
