This is a zippy, suspenseful, fun and beautifully descriptive travel mystery/romance. I had no idea what I was in for when I started it - not this twisty-turny fast-paced and action-packed whirlwind, that's for sure. But I loved it. A little cheesy in spots, but it was all part of the fun! Couldn't put it down. I read it in less than 24 hours - WHILE on vacation with family.
"I found a wry humour in wondering just what Mark would have said, had he known he was packing me off, with prudent haste, from the perimeter of the affair into its very centre."
Breezing through this un-put-down-able novel!
Well written escapism with mystery, adventure, and (just) a dash of romance against the backdrop of the Greek island of Crete. The inspiration for the 1960s Disney movie starring Hayley Mills, the book‘s protagonist is a little older and more independent and the plot more involved and satisfying, although I still love the movie. Will be reading more from this author.
I read this way back in the day. After seeing the movie (OMG - so bad!) I needed to reread it. #MaryStewart
1.It will be better to ask persons how they see me.But I'm here to try help others. 2.I do it every time in everything I do.A couple of minutes by myself, in silence and I can recover. 3. "Everyone is a moon, and has a dark side where she/he never shows to anybody" Mark Twain. I believe in this but I see it in a good way, know our dark side to change it for a positive one, a way to challenge our fears. Thanks for tagging me @kamoorephoto

The new moon in Cancer, the week of my birthday (July 6th), is making this time especially hard. Moving into shelter, dog being sick, questioning life, that all is tricky!
1 It may seem to be a wonderful thing but it also has made periods of my life incredibly challenging, just FEELING so much. I‘ve often wished I didn‘t.
2 This has become so hard. It‘s been a long time since I nurtured myself and found sacred space.
Thanks for the blessings @4thhouseontheleft
1. Yes and at times it can be overwhelming.
2. I surround myself with things that bring me happiness and peace.

Watching the storm come in, starting Moonspinners, and enjoying a cool drink. (Perrier, elderberry syrup, and slices of blood orange 🍊)
A fun story set in the Greek islands. Nicola is heading to a secluded hotel for her vacation and meets a young man, Mark, who was mysteriously injured and hiding in a shepherds hut. His younger brother is missing and she must help Mark find his brother while figuring out who to trust and how to stay safe.
Mystery on the island of Crete! Read this today, then watched the 1964 film. Love Stewart's writing style. But the movie was not as impressive; however it was filmed on location
Starting this one next, a reread of one I loved as a teen.
Everytime I read her novels, I am fascinated by her descriptive writing that I wished I could visit those places.

My first for the #ThrowbackReadathon! I loved Mary Stewart books when I was a kid, and this was one of my favorites. Mystery and romance in the Greek Isles! Imagine my delight when I discovered Disney made it into a movie with Hayley Mills! That‘s one of my go-to nostalgia movies! @monalyisha @Clwojick
This is my first time reading Mart Stewart and I will definitely check out her other books. What drew me to this one was the movie that I watched when I was young starring Hayley Mills. This book and the movie could not be more different. I was very surprised, but I still enjoyed the book.
I'm 100 pages in. It is so different from the movie.

While these images are from Google, these are the editions my mother owned and are #booksIlovedasateen. And still read when I need a comfort read. #riotgrams @bookriot
Finished reading The Moonspinners this morning. Looking forward to watching the movie tonight.
I remember when Disney made a movie based on this book. Haley Mills was the star.
Afternoon cat cuddles and reading. I'm about 70 pages in and enjoying it so far. #catsoflitsy
Excited to read The Moon-Spinners! I had no idea this was a book. It was one of my favorite movies as a kid, watching old movies on TV's The Wonderful World of Disney. Oh how I wanted to be Hayley Mills!
