Well, that was fun. Dayna is a great mc and her friends are funny too. Bahni Turpin is a fantastic narrator. I will be reading more in this series. #audiowalk

I have about a third of this book left, so it shouldn‘t be long before I finish it. It‘s funny and lighthearted. Our protagonist and her friends are a little shallow and naïve, but they‘re fun and do show the occasional depth. I can‘t figure out what that random piece of bridge is doing there; it‘s been there for years. #audiowalk
I wanted something light and funny for my walks, and I‘d seen this recommended somewhere so decided to check it out. So far, I‘m enjoying it. #audiowalk
This series has potential, if only the hapless protagonist took herself less seriously. It tries hard to be a fun, light mystery a la Janet Evanovich, but this is no Stephanie Plum. #DetectiveByDay
I want to love this, but it's not really working for me? “I sent in an anonymous tip to the police about a car I think was involved in a hit and run, and now I think I've solved the whole murder! But they haven't arrested ANYONE?? How DARE they.“
C'moooon.
I'm enjoying this so far in a fairly bland way? It's very readable, but I'm not particularly hooked. I wonder if it works better for people who are more into Hollywood stuff and have more of a mental context? I barely watch TV and almost never go to the cinema. 😅
It was just ok. I wanted to love it. I love the cover and the mystery part. I could do without the romance part.
Need a box taped? @JenlovesJT47 is your person! 😂😂 Thanks for the #bookmail! And @robinb , the postcards are amazing! Hollywood Homicide was my book, so I‘ll be sending the other two along when I get them read. #whodunitthesequel
#Two4TuesdayGiveaway @TheSpineView 🌸I usually give books away after I read them. I keep the ones that I really liked. 🌹The tagged book is one that I really want to add to my cozy Mysteries collection. @Billypar @thevagabondlawyer @ozma.of.oz
So much fun, an unusual take on a cozy mystery. Great weekend read; funny and engaging with a great cast of characters. The Hollywood setting added another interesting layer that I found fresh and fun! Can‘t wait to read the next one! #mystery #cozymystery #integrateyourshelf
Loved this fun, cozy mystery! Set in LA and with a heroine you want to grab lunch/happy hour/binge CSI with, it‘s the perfect blend of laugh out loud moments and genuine mystery that keeps you guessing. I‘ve been meaning to review this for some time and I‘m glad to add it to my Litsy stack.
Some of my #bookstorehaul from the last couple months. Tagged book was our November book club selection, and the opinions were a little mixed. I really liked it when I first read it, but it‘s a little slower on the reread. It would be good for this year‘s #socialmedia focus prompt and of course next year‘s #Hollywood prompt. L-R bottom row are December and January picks, then a cozy mystery I‘ll probably finish at the nail salon.
I had high hopes for this one, and I was a little disappointed. Truthfully, though, life hasn‘t been easy, so my attention span hasn‘t been that great for reading. I‘m on vacation next week, so hopefully that changes!
I didn‘t fully connect with the main character, but I‘m hoping the author develops her more as the series progresses. A so-so for me. It‘s in the mail to you, @bookwrm526 ! #whodunitthesequel
My first bail for August. I‘m hoping this doesn‘t set the tone for the whole month. 😱 The writing style and first person narration in this book don‘t work for me. It‘s too casual, too chatty, and frankly, annoying. . I haven‘t read a cozy mystery in a while, but I‘ve enjoyed others. This one is not for me. Glad it‘s a library book! #bailey just because. 😉 #pitbullsoflitsy #dogsoflitsy #readingbuddy #snuggles
Start of a new series that has potential. Light read, engaging, humorous. If you like humorous mysteries it‘s worth a try.
I‘m taking an Adult Popular Literature class and I have to read titles across various genres. This is my mystery choice, mainly because I had already started it and never finished! It‘s a Cozy Mystery despite being set in a large city. Somehow the author makes it feel quaint. It‘s hard to find a cozy mystery with a Black lead character so I‘m excited to finish #CozyMystery #DetectiveByDay #Mysteries
This wasn‘t for me. The main character made some pretty ridiculous leaps of logic, and I‘m not into celebrity like these characters are. Too bad; I‘m needing another good mystery. Any suggestions?
I'm not a cozy mystery person (gave them a try one summer. Just not my genre.) But this is a solid one. Relatable main character, love interest, quirky best friends, etc. If you like this type of book, you'll like this book. If you're me, it's still a pretty nice read.

#ReadHarder2019 - a cozy mystery
“It was a slap in the face, but one that I desperately needed at that moment.”
Reviews seem mixed on this series, but it just won the Anthony for best first mystery at Bouchercon. I miss going to Bouchercon, so I wanted to try a new author!
A fun, cozy read to get me through the week too the holiday weekend a bit quicker!
Loved this funny, light mystery! I can't wait to check out others in the series.

It was cute in someways but mostly it was boring. I‘m jumping ship now.
@Mollyanna this is on its way to you. #WhodunitTheSequel
My current surroundings. I haven‘t had a chance to read this book yet because I‘ve been sick, I‘ve been in the hospital, and life sucks.
Agatha award winner for best first novel. Fun book! MC is as funny and inept as Stephanie Plum, but hopefully there won‘t be a love triangle that drags on for years. #cozymystery #readharderchallenge
I was so sure I would love this book!! I mean, it‘s a mystery and the protagonist and I have the same name...no brainer! Except what makes this book what it is (the Hollywood & designer label stuff) just doesn‘t float my boat.
The next #whodunitthesequel is on its way to you, @Schlinkles!
I am super excited to crack this book open! The reviews on Litsy haven‘t been that great, but it has high ratings on goodreads, so 🤞🏾. Plus, the protagonist and I have the same name 🤓.
I really wanted to love this book but I had a hard time connecting to the main character or the story until about halfway through. Maybe I'm just not cut out for the Hollywood lifestyle 😜
It is a first book, so I have a feeling the next one will have better pacing. And I'd enjoy reading more about the minor characters.
Home after a work trip means being able to read in bed - and finish my #whodunnitthesequel book! Review tomorrow.
I rarely do this but I‘m bailing on this book. I‘m not connecting with the lead character and the plot isn‘t pulling me in to continue. I might try this one again later.
@ScientistSam I am early again finishing this month‘s #whodunitthesequel book. 🙄 🤷🏻♀️ No pressure, but would you prefer me to send it on along to you now or hold it until later in February? Either works for me! 😊
OK, this one left me torn. While it was slightly better than a so-so, it wasn‘t a pick. It felt a little juvenile to me, and I never really engaged with the story or the characters. I didn‘t feel any anticipation or enthusiasm in picking it up between readings. Maybe since it‘s first in series I should give it another shot with the next one...more development. I do❤️ the stunning cover and the humor! 😊

@Tiffy_Reads
Just finished this up for #whodunitthesequel! Even though the mystery took too long to get good, I LOVED all the Hollywood insider stuff, especially from the perspective of those trying to break into the business. Plus, I love me some diverse genre fiction! It'll be on its way to you tomorrow, @robinb! (Post office is closed today)

Almost done! I‘ll be sending it soon @ferskner ! #whodunitthesequel
I wanted to love this. I loved the concept, characters and cover. But, I didn't love the execution. The whole plot line, story and dialogue fell flat and forced. Instead of being engaged with it, I was just kind of bored. It's such a shame.
Went to a reading tonight for internet-friend and mystery writer Kellye Garrett! Great event, excellent Saturday.
Can I finish this before I fall asleep? Let's see!
