Elvis was a great voice- I loved her animal facts! I loved how everyone dealt with grief, healing. And it spurred me to make a Rabbit Cake for Easter for my grandson!! Thanks. Sick as a dog today so I'm staying in bed and finishing some of the books I've read half of, but haven't finished. This one was pretty saccharine for me, but I admit I cried at the end... so I guess it won me over?

Someone here (hi @JanuarieTimewalker13 !) asked me about the dog Boomer is based on. Here is Harvey, the most wonderful dog who ever lived, and my inspiration for Boomer. I remember, on this walk in Alabama, an elderly couple stopped me to ask if my dog was smart enough to do their taxes. "Probably!" I said. He's the dog I thank in the acknowledgements... he died of cancer last fall. He was my best friend. ❤️.

Mariposa_Bookworm I'm so sorry for the loss of your great pup. He looks incredibly happy in this picture! 7y
anniehartnett @Mariposa_Bookworm thank you -- he *was* happy! He was found as a stray, and I think we both appreciated every day together. 7y

JanuarieTimewalker13 Oh, Harvey❤️ you beautiful soul!! Border collies are amazing...I lived with Teddie, a border collie for 1 1/2 years at a home of friends' (who are like family). That dog was so darn smart, and I swear was right by my side when I was sick with a virus or food poisoning and went to get his mom, bc he knew I was in bad shape. When I would dive in their pool he would follow me along the perimeter until he saw my head pop up. So protective, so sweet! (edited) 7y
JanuarieTimewalker13 What a treat that you put this photo up of Harvey!! Thank you for sharing him with us and I am loving the book...it is with me right now? PS, I actually wrote a poem in honor of Teddie after he passed in 2002...it was called "An ode to Teddie". Coincidentally, Teddie had a brother (golden retriever) named Boomer. (edited) 7y
anniehartnett @monkeygirlsmama yes thank you! I think about him every day. 7y
anniehartnett @JanuarieTimewalker13 ❤️❤️ border collies are indeed incredible. We have another BC mix now -- Willie. He's the dog you asked about, he's a little doll. Thanks for reading RC!! 🐰🐰🐶 7y
