I knew I shouldn‘t have drank that coffee yesterday. Oh well, if I‘m up at least it was in the company of a good book. This mystery was a step up from the usual cozy mystery. The characters were nuanced and the mystery was interesting. Plus it was set in Vermont and there was a big dog. I‘ll be on the lookout for more from this author.

I‘m slowly working my way through all of M.C. Beaton‘s books on audio. This is a standalone with a couple of atypical main characters, which is refreshing. There‘s mystery & her typical humor. 3.5⭐️

#Read2025 #SeriesLove2025

Finished last week for #ThematicCozies April #Sports theme, one of my two picks. I don‘t know that this one is really that sports related. The MC goes to Mackinac Island to help her boss‘s father with his bike shop when he breaks his leg & starts trying to solve a murder when he is accused. There‘s talk of a bike race but most renters are tourists getting around the no-car island. Still it was cute-maybe a little over ⬇️

DebinHawaii …top at times with just how accident prone the MC was, but I overall enjoyed the audiobook (free on Audible) & would listen to the next book in the series. (This is book 1). 4d
TheSpineView Well done!🤩🩷📚 4d
julieclair I‘d read it just for the Mackinac Island setting. I‘ve always wanted to go there! 4d

Hi, Littens! I miss you! My store has been open since January and it‘s going great but I want to get back on Litsy much more. I have a question for the #cozymystery lovers: what are the top series that I should carry (some of them, not the entire series) at the bookstore? I read lots of mystery/thrillers but am not as familiar with cozies! Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Jess I‘m so excited your are open! I look forward to stopping by in the coming weeks. 4d
Jas16 Congratulations on your bookstore! Are we able to support you through bookshop.org? 4d
Ruthiella Congrats! I‘m not a cosy mystery reader myself, but I‘ll be interested in hearing what others think. Unless Richard Osman books are considered cosy? 🤔 I really like his Thursday Murder Club series as well as his newest 4d

BookwormAHN I'm not sure about a series but pretty much anything by Ellery Adams is good. 4d
Librarybelle Anything by Vicky Delany/Eva Gates is a winner! She writes several cozies (and a couple non-cozies). I also point people to Laurie Cass. I also love anything by Ellie Alexander. A good resource is the cozy mystery website: https://cozy-mystery.com/blog/most-popular-and-recommended-cozy-mystery-series/ . This links to a recommended list that is fairly recent. Oh, and M.C. Beaton—definitely recommend her books! 4d
Bookwormjillk Congratulations! Where is your store again? My daughter‘s field hockey schedule has been bringing me to York and Lancaster this year. For cozies I like Vivien Chien‘s series or maybe there‘s a series that takes place near you? 4d
BookmarkTavern I‘ve been enjoying the Bakeshop series by Ellie Alexander, the Record Shop series by Olivia Blacke, and the Stellar Investigations Detective Agency by Manjiri Prabhu. (edited) 4d

#serieslove2025

Last year with series love I got caught up on my library cozy series this year I‘m focusing on catching up with the cupcake series. I‘ve been reading these since 2011 so these books and characters are familiar and cozy and follow the usual formula. In this one there is a shooter loose targeting the shop owners. It‘s up to Mel and the gang to figure out who and why.

TheSpineView Great job! ❤️📖📚 5d

Everything I like in a cozy mystery. Amateur female sleuth, police detective boyfriend, likable supporting characters, small town setting, and a mystery that I can‘t figure out. I‘ll read more of this series. 4⭐️

This was my April pick for #ThematicCozies #Sport, and also my #BookSpin #DoubleSpin

TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!!! Also - I got Indiscretion in the mail yesterday!!! Thank you so much for sending it back, I genuinely forgot you had it 😂 But in fairness I've had The Smile of a Stranger for so long that I literally don't remember who is supposed to get it next! 😂 😂 😂 5d
julieclair @TheAromaofBooks 🤣🤣 Once the structure of #LMPBC disappeared, we dissolved into chaos! 🤪🫠😂 5d

A surprise! Library hold came through!

When a prominent member of the Marlow community is poisoned, the three friends are once again asked to look into the mystery and figure out whodunnit.

Fun as usual. I love his writing. He explores all the suspects and delves into the lives of his heroines too.

While humorous and somewhat entertaining, I think I‘d give it 3.5 🌟. When Fiona, Evie‘s best friend is the top suspect for a murder on Mackinac island, Evie does her best to prove Fiona‘s innocence. Misleading the tourists to think it‘s all part of a mystery game adds to the schtick.
