I‘m slowly working my way through all of M.C. Beaton‘s books on audio. This is a standalone with a couple of atypical main characters, which is refreshing. There‘s mystery & her typical humor. 3.5⭐️

Book 4 marks the end of the Edwardian Murder Mysteries. Lady Rose & her friend (her name escapes me at the moment) are funny & do get into some hilarious situations and as always Davina Porter is excellent. 3⭐️

This one was extra jarring & felt like a totally different series. Just when I finally had gotten used to the 2nd narrator, this one has a different one. Everything felt off in this one. Sigh. 3⭐️

I‘m giving this a soft pick. While there are differences in the Agatha Raisin series since R.W. Green took over, they are subtle & don‘t bother me much. Not so in the Hamish Macbeth series. In this one & the next one especially it almost feels like a completely different series. I will still keep reading but it‘s not the same. 3.5⭐️

Book 3 in the Edwardian Murder Mysteries is just ok. Very similar to the first two books and nothing stands out, but they are easy listening fluff narrated by the amazing Davina Porter. 3⭐️

I liked book 2 in the Edwardian Murder Mysteries series better than the first. Lady Rose & her “companion” crack me up. These are fluffy cozy mysteries narrated by the amazing Davina Porter who does a great job with the various accents. Can‘t go wrong with M.C. Beaton! 4⭐️

Loved the TV series so thought I‘d try a book. The Agatha in the TV series is much nicer and funnier. Think I‘ll stick with the TV series.

Agatha Raisin is an amuter sleuth who always ends up making the police mad at her for interfering with their cases. In Agatha Raisin and the Day the Floods Came, she ends up getting involved in another case. She's headed home when she stops on a bridge with everyone else and sees a bride floating down the river. She's intrigued when she finds out the bride had been frozen. I do like this series bc Agatha is kind of cranky but wears her ⬇️

MonicaLoves2Read heart on her sleeve. I do wish she would mature a little bit and stop pinning for James.

😊 Happy Reading 😊

I‘m on hold for the next Hamish book so I decided to dive into another cozy mystery series by M.C. Beaton, this time set in the Edwardian era. It had its funny moments & the narrator did a great job with all the voices, but it didn‘t capture my full attention. It‘s not bad, just not my favorite. 3⭐️

This is the 1st Hamish book without M.C. Beaton. The changes are subtle, at least imo, but I still thoroughly enjoyed this. Poor Hamish just cannot catch a break with his messy love life. Love this series. 4⭐️

thegirlwiththelibrarybag Oh no, he still hasn‘t got his love life sorted? I haven‘t read a Hamish book in forever. Not sure how I feel about the books being continued past them being given an ending. I read the first Agatha Raisin without MC and while it was fine - I haven‘t continued. 1mo
JenlovesJT47 @thegirlwiththelibrarybag Hamish has very bad luck in this one with his current lady. I love both Hamish and Agatha and while I can definitely tell a difference with the new author, I still think he captures the overall feel of everything pretty well. I just finished the new Agatha Raisin book and enjoyed it. 1mo
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @JenlovesJT47, as long as the enjoyment is still there, that‘s really all that matters. 1mo
