The way the Polbearnites are developed in this book is second to none. I get why Polly (and Huckle) can't leave - I certainly couldn't! Especially not if I had a Neil. 😭 (Also, I have a weird affection for Reuben? I understand you, Kerensa.) #womensfiction
OMGosh what a great book! I just loved it. So cute. A real page turner. I couldn't put it down. On to the second book in the series. Hoping it is as good as this one.
I actually read this one at the beginning of the year, but I‘m still working through my list of books to post about. Really enjoyed this first book in the series and will be continuing with it. There was a little bit of everything. Some funny parts, some sad and a definite want for the main character to succeed. #bakedgoodsoncover #booked2021 #l #litsyatoz #seriesread2021 #doublespin #february

Having to file for bankruptcy, losing your business, and realizing your relationship hasn‘t really been there for months is not where Polly thought she‘d find herself. When a chance at a remote flat seems to be in her budget and doesn‘t look like the roof will fall in on her, she jumps at the chance to start building her life back up. Now revisiting her love of baking and meeting new people seems like the perfect opportunity to rebuild.
I wasn‘t really sure what to expect with this one. I mainly put it on my list because there is bread on the cover and I‘ve read a couple other of her books.
Polly moves to small island after her business and marriage fail. She starts baking bread and opening up a bakery. She also has a pet puffin which looks adorable in my head. For the most part it was okay, if a little weird. Like there was a Star Wars themed wedding

Not my favorite Jenny Colgan. It was still wholesome and had all the usual pieces, but felt a bit dragged out and the ending just didn‘t feel right.
As I was prepping my December #BookSpin list, I realized I had the physical Christmas book to this series. That a perfect reason to add the first book to my list - esp since the latter turned out to be my DoubleSpin pick! This book was adorable and I can‘t wait to continue my vicarious life in Mount Polbearne, Cornwall, England!
This year has been rough to say the least- my family is still reeling from some important losses in our lives and so this book found me at the perfect moment. The breezy idyllic coastal setting was just what I needed, where all problems are solvable and not too big. Polly was a delight, and I honestly wish I lived in Huckle‘s countryside cottage. This book made me laugh in a very personally dark time. #beach #light #feelgoodread
I‘m surprised how much I enjoyed this sweet, cozy story. It was just the comfort I needed in these crazy times. 💙
#BeautifulWords Polly has an #Epiphany and realizes that the little seaside town of Polbearne is exactly where she needs to be.

This was an adorable book and it motivated me to make some of my own baked creations! Set in an isolated fishing community, the author spins a tale a loss, failure, loneliness, and eventually love and forgiveness.
Rated PG and well written with likable characters, this book will charm even the toughest critics.
📖📚 Happy Reading! 📚📖
This was a really good book! Polly moves to the little seaside town of Polbearne, and finds more there than she ever expected.
Thanks so much for the book Amber @AmberWB! I love the Jenny Colgan books I've read, so I'm looking forward to reading this one!

This was sweet and sad and charming and touching and funny and satisfying. I'd love to visit St Michael's Mont but no way would I want to live there! Also I've been craving bread like crazy. 🍞🥐🥖🥨🍔😭
Two thumbs up.
"A loomery of puffins" That's the most adorable thing I've heard this week. ?
Very enjoyable and overall charming story. I would only give the book ⭐️⭐️⭐️ because elements of the semi love triangle reminded me of her other book The Bookshop around the corner. But I did love feel of the town and Polly was a very likable character with her pet Puffin. I look forward to reading the next books in the series.
Happy Saturday reading Litsy family❤️ I‘m enjoying this one so far and dreaming of the day I can visit Cornwall 🤞🏾
Ah I really loved this! Set in Cornwall, the main character leaves the city hustle and bustle for a simpler life. It‘s heart warming and enjoyable and not as predictable as it sounds. Can‘t wait to try all the yummy recipes at the back fo the book too. 👍🏻 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I‘m working my way through the Jenny Colgan books this year. I enjoyed this book and loved the audio. I kind of want to visit Cornwall and see these islands. And I want to have a puffin for a pet. I am loving the easy, cozy stories as a nice change from all the mysteries I‘ve been reading. Can‘t wait for the next one to be available.
A cozy little read about starting a new life with a Puffin and an angry landlady/boss who hates you 😄
On the off chance this should ever be made into a move . . .
USE STUNT BOOKS FOR THIS SCENE😱😱

I read this for #Booked2019 #foodorbeverageoncover
It‘s a romance, which I don‘t read many of anymore but it was pure enjoyment. The author‘s depiction of Americans make us all sound like a bunch of idiotic buffoons but the story was lovely and I‘d happily read another by this author. (Of course there ARE Americans that are idiotic buffoons but hopefully we aren‘t all that way!)
It was a cute book. The only reason I'm saying So-So is because there were placed, I felt, dragged to much; there were things that could have been left out. Otherwise it's a light, fun read.
I really enjoyed this second chance story. The cast if quirky characters captured my heart, the tidal location (St. Michael‘s Mount, Cornwall) resonates with my soul (I‘m adding it to my bucket list of places to see) and the descriptions of the breads had my mouth watering. I loved Polly‘s strength and perseverance... starting over, doing something she loved and believing in herself. The final clincher for me was the recipes included at the end!

This was a cute little read. I didn't quite think the love story was successful. It was a little lacking in my opinion but I cant quite put my finger on why that was. I enjoyed meeting the cast of characters in the little town though and that was fun 😊
Does anyone else read when they go to the laundry.
I just love Jenny Colgan books, they just make you feel good!!
Colgan always writes the perfect summer reads. This is a quick, enjoyable book. I can‘t wait to read more about Polly, Neil and the rest of the island residents. 🐧 🌊🍞 ☀️
An easy summer read. Feelgood at it‘s best! 🌞
Instead of flowers, I get books for Mother‘s Day. This year, we went to Barnes and Noble and I picked out Little Beach Street Bakery; my daughter picked out Cemetery Girl for me. #happymothersday
A great vacation read, though I could have done without the love triangle.
A bit sadder than I expected after The Bookshop Around the Corner, but still a great story of a woman getting out of a stifling lifestyle and relationship and building a life for herself that makes her happy.
First of May Holiday breakfast ☕️🌤🌿 with a new comfy book, a splash of sunlight on this chilly windy morning, my yummy Latte with a sprinkling of cinnamon & the mini “Maytree” my husband made me, a German tradition.
Usually Maytrees are made from cut down young birch trees and set outside the house to signal being in love, mostly by the young folk...
And it‘s crazy romantic I still get one after our 15 years together 💓 Love my sweet man.

One of my all time favorite activities is to read on the beach.
This was such a cute lil chick-lit audiobook. I love reading/listening to these to break up my historical fiction drive. Sweet characters who feel real and relatable. I loved the aspect of the island for this story which made the characters quarks even more fun since they were all in such a small location. Jenny always has such sweet relaxing books! She definitely is one of my go to authors!

Audio field trippin‘ today! My oldest volunteered me to chaperone her 8th grade field trip. Luckily I can drive myself! It‘s a beautiful day and we will be outside for most of the day! & my group of 8th graders is pretty good! So I‘ll enjoy my book before the chaos begins!

5. I realize I keep answering in twos. 😉 Redamak‘s in New Buffalo, MI- I grew up going there after beach trips every summer and still go whenever I visit home. The other place is called The Point- it‘s right up the road and is on the water. Great food and a very popular hangout for teachers in the summer. 😊

Light, fast, sweet, fun. Helped to get me through this very wintery first week of April
5/5⭐️ - this book was adorable and fun! Defiantly looking forward to reading more of her books in the future!!
Only a 100 pages in and I already want to bake and adopt a puffin 🐧
Day 11 late again I‘m bad at this, anyway Favourite place to read. To be honest I will read anywhere and everywhere but if I had to pick it‘s at the beach house we go to at the bottom off the Garden is a table and I love sitting there with a cup of blanket round me listening to the waves crashing against the rocks. Even on a cold Scottish night it‘s so beautiful. #booksandshelfiesM18
