As a side note, this book says it's from my dog, Waylon - because as a puppy Waylon chewed up my original copy!! And thanks ThriftBooks for smacking a sticker in the center of the cover🙄

ANYWAY I had a fabulous time reading this one!! Di joins the gang (and evens out the boy/girl numbers haha). There were some intense scenes in this one!! Second mystery in a row where Trixie is held at gunpoint by the criminal! 😅

Once again, I like how Trixie⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) isn't perfect. In this one, Honey takes her to task for not being as nice to Diana as she should be, for instance. I love the banter, squabbles, and affection between this group of friends and siblings - the dialogue feels realistic to me.

Rereading as an adult, I found myself wondering why Di's family just immediately accepted her uncle without any proofs? I get that he “knew the story“ of Di's mom, but still! I feel like I would have ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) done some quiet investigation into his background story?? I loved the way Trixie made the connection of his eye color - this book had a real cat-and-mouse feel to it.

I'm also not completely convinced that a travel trailer is going to be a great year-round home for Tom and Celia in upstate NY, but best wishes on that 😂

Thanks as always for reading with me #BobWhiteBuddies !!! Did you have any specific thoughts, favorite parts, or ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) scenes that made your eyes roll? It's obviously super convenient that half the gang is super rich, but I like the way that they agree to earn their club money and try to be independent. I feel like these books do a great job of quietly teaching the importance of balancing work/responsibilities/play.

Anyway, do share your thoughts!! And I'm already looking forward to reading The Mystery Off Glen Road next month!!

mabell So thoughtful of you to replace it, Waylon! 😂 I keep seeing everyone‘s posts and getting nostalgic - I‘m going to have to reread 🥰 4mo
Bette You brought back good memories. I loved these books as a kid. ❤️😊 4mo
DebinHawaii What‘s with those center cover stickers?!🤬 Yay for Waylon🐶 replacing it!😂 I agree about the family just accepting the uncle but based on the whole Red Trailer mystery, Di‘s father seems pretty trusting & too kind for his own good. Fave scenes were the paintings in the fire & the eyes & Trixie & Mart throwing pans at Spider. 🙄were for Di running off crying every 10 minutes & Uncle Monty‘s “Howdy podners” & his attempts at being a horse expert! 4mo
lauraisntwilder I agree about the realistic dialogue, especially between Trixie and Mart. I am really enjoying these so far. Trixie sneaking off the Skid Row was interesting! 4mo

#ReadAway2024 #SeriesLove2024

Book #4 finished last week for #BobWhiteBuddies. This was one of my favorites in the series. I liked the Halloween party, the idea of the portraits & 👁️ color & how tense things got at the end. Also we get Di added to the group (& I think she stops crying so much in later books!)😭😂Also not related to my book review but I love that the latest employee to join my team is named Trixy (spelled differently of course)😆

Amiable When I was a kid I tried to get my family to call me Trixie because I loved these books so much. They wouldn‘t indulge me, however. 🙄😀 #TrixieFanforLife 4mo

The stakes are raised for the Bob-Whites of the glen as they try to induct a new member to the club, as well as solve the mystery of a long lost uncle.

I forgot just how tense this one gets! And it felt much scarier as an adult watching these 13 and 14 year old kids running around, solving mysteries. But we finally get Di in the mix! And I love seeing everybody start to learn to trust Trixie‘s instincts. 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! I had such fun reading this one!! 4mo

#Naturalitsy #HyggeHourReadathon

About to start my #HyggeHour. Hanging out with Trixie & the Bob-Whites for #BobWhiteBuddies I remember this one being a favorite with lots of action. My snack is TJ‘s Rosemary Marcona Almonds, a favorite. Drinking a cup of Sleepytime tea (a classic for a reason).

Mood is tired & a little anxious. I needed a longer weekend & this week will be busy.

Chrissyreadit 💛💛💛 I love that you post your snacks- they all sound so yummy to me! Did you grow up in Hawaii? 4mo

#OldCoolBooks #hardcovers

Since I used my paperback Trixie Belden books for yesterday's prompt, I figured I should show the hardbacks today. It's a busy Monday so excuse the quick pic & my not dusting first. 😬😆On top are some Nancy Drew books that hang out on the same shelf.

The thin hardcover editions were published in the early 70s. My sister owned the first few, but lost interest so I claimed them & got the rest for birthdays & such.💛📚

BethM I adore Trixie! Is your set complete? 6y
DebinHawaii @BethM Of this set of the first 16 hardbacks, Yes--but not of the paperbacks. I'm missing a few of the late 70s-80s ones. I'll get to them someday! 😀👍 6y
BethM If you email me what you're missing I'll check my stash for duplicates! bethmkaiser@gmail.com 6y

I remember loving Trixie Belden the best of all the series I read as a kid. I couldn't remember what especially appealed to me so when I saw this book at the library, I thought I'd refresh my memory. I wasn't far into it when my memories came rushing back. Trixie was a smart aleck tomboy; a badass for gentler times. I liked her then; I like her now.
