OK story but a bit rambling. I was not sure what to expect. Had not seen any of the series which is probably a bit different. Shadow is a man who is involved with several gods in America. For those who like Gaiman.

Also started this one, but I haven‘t seen the series at all. Had a copy so I could not resist despite reading 2 other books.

Yeees, my friend used a Depeche Mode poster to wrap the book😊 which makes it look even better, imho 😇😋

The Lincoln Highway would be a good choice for this prompt too.
I enjoyed this story but I‘m not a big fantasy reader so found myself lost at certain points. It‘s more of a me problem than a book problem. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Ok I waffled a lot yesterday but these are my options for picks @mrsmarch @BookmarkTavern
I know Witch‘s Heart would be a reread for @mrsmarch & the tagged book is probably too long for this 😬 but I‘m game if y‘all are. #lmpbc myths group
Well that was quite the wild road-trip!
I *think* I enjoyed it... certainly it kept me reading (and I enjoyed playing "spot the divinity") but I've no wish to watch the TV show: the visuals inside my head are quite enough to be going on with.
Loved. Audio is excellent. Now I‘m going to have to watch the series adaptation.
Creative, intriguing, and - at times - perplexing. I wonder what the gods thought of this modern take on mythology and human beliefs. I love the concept, even if I didn‘t love the book. I won‘t be watching the TV show, but I might read the sequel… if Gaiman is truly working on one.

“A novel is always a long piece of prose with something wrong with it.”
I really need to read more Gaiman. 😇😈
A few weeks ago I saw Sandman on Netflix. I couldn't get any copy of that comic so I thought I should read American Gods. It was a good and interesting (and quite unique) book.
Tried listening to this book last year but for whatever reason I couldn‘t get into it. So I marked it as DNF and moved on to my next book. At the beginning of April, I gave it another shot. I found myself intrigued as I listened to the beginning for the second time, and listening to it was not the chore that it was the first time. Neil Gaiman has moved back to the top of my list of favorite authors. I‘m glad I tried this book again. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Just came home from a walk with this #SpecialEdition Neil Gaiman that was in my local Little Free Library 😁

Date in nature. ♥️
If Harry Stephen Keeler had ever written one his webwork novels that wasn't totally insane, it might have come out something like American Gods. This long sprawling novel never fails to captivate as it tells the story of a new world, old gods on the wane, new gods on the rise, and the universal feelings that lie in gods and humans alike. Gaiman grounds his characters in emotional truth while spinning a most fantastical tale. Well worth the time.
There were a lot of things I liked about this book like how the ancient gods were woven throughout the modern world and the invention of the “modern gods.” Gaiman is an incredibly talented writer.
There were also a lot of things I didn‘t like about the book. There seemed to be a lot of gratuitous sex and violence that did nothing to advance the plot. Also, I didn‘t know what the hell was going on half the time.

Thanks for the tag @PageShifter 🥰
1. I‘m totally open to it but I can‘t think of many I‘ve read recently - open to recommendations!
2. I did love the parts of American Gods set the furthest back in the past, I was just discussing that with someone today.
I tag @moll and @indiaro 😘
It‘s mine and my husband‘s anniversary (15 years of dating!) this weekend and I think he did an A+ job at his gift for me 😂😂. I love the Horizon games SO MUCH and have been wanting the tallneck LEGO set ever since they announced it and I‘m really excited about American Gods!
Honestly not sure how I feel after reading this book. I can‘t say I enjoyed it because it was more determination to not bail that pushed me through to the end. It was really an overall meh for me 🤔

Me and my reading buddy starting American Gods. This will be my second Gaiman book. Looking forward to this one 🍁🍁🍁🍁 Happy Sunday everyone!
It‘s my turn to pick our book club read and I can‘t decide between American Gods by Neil Gaiman and Sacred Treason by James Forrester.

2✨ This was a really hard one to read. We mostly follow Shadow who is the son of Odin. We also have other new gods like the god of the internet. Of course we have old gods namely Loki so a lot of mischief happens. It was hard to follow because it mentions items that I should know about based on actual mythology. Maybe I missed something, but I was struggling. It‘s written well, but not one I‘m going to finish the series on.
1.) Oh man. I would say it was my 3rd-7th grade librarian and my 5th-12th grade teachers. I was a struggling reader and they helped me find books for me that I truly enjoyed and was able to escape the constant bullying. 2.)Jennifer Donnelly and Karen McManus 3.)Yes, The Shadow in the Glass. @Littlewolf1 @Eggs

Neil Gaiman is very talented with words. American Gods is a very interesting book. You have to suspend all logic. When you read this book, just go along for the ride and see where it takes you!

American Gods is THE BOOK that kicked off my life of pleasure reading after college. It was recommended to me by the book buyer at the small, indie bookstore where I was employed; I‘d like to think I would‘ve found my way here without her & without Neil Gaiman…but who knows?
This was a reread to prep for getting a tattoo inspired by one of the characters (the goddess Easter/Ostara). It was just as enchanting & multilayered as I remember. 👇🏻
Neil Gaiman is always a favorite.
So I finally finished and I have to say… that was an epic ride. I normally have problems finding books that keep me intrigued and don‘t give away the ending, but this one? Every step was an unknown path. So if you haven‘t read the book, I advise trying it. It‘s amazing.
Slow day at work means more time to enjoy Neil Gaiman. Maybe I‘ll finish this today. #2022reads
Just starting this one while at work and look at this page. So beautiful. ❤️❤️❤️ #2022reads

Day 151.
Here I will note 365 books (or as many as I will have before I get tired) that have shaped my taste in literature. No explanations, no reviews. Just the cover of the book.
I do not challenge anyone. You are all welcome to take part.
"Nobody's American," said Wednesday. "Not originally. That's my point."
Forgot to take a picture, but I finally finished this one! It‘s been a long time coming lol
