A captivating story about a high school girl who gets caught up in the darkness of high school and pays with her life. Very compelling and well written!

Kate Baron gets a phone call from her daughter's private school telling her that Amelia has been caught cheating. When Kate arrives at the school, she finds out that Amelia has jumped from the school's roof and is dead. Kate is bound and determined to find out the truth about Amelia's death. This is a scary debut about secrets and lies, friends and bullies.
I find myself reading two books at once. The top one for my bookclub (meeting quickly approaching) and the bottom from once upon a bookclub package. #dogsoflitsy All with my trusty Gomez standing by.
I finished this book in 24 hours. I was completely captivated by McCreight‘s unique structure and wonderful character portrayal. I think I was invested to the point I was because I related so heavily with Amelia- young, scared, and trying to navigate high school when you don‘t even know yourself. The many red herrings threw me off multiple times, but I think the book ended in such a tragically beautiful way. It has become my go-to comfort read
Read 166 pages so far of this book.. it‘s been one day. I am grossly invested in Amelia‘s storyline of discovering her and her sexuality. It brings me back to that age and how I shared those same exact feelings at that point in my life. This is already a comforting book. Can‘t wait to see what unfolds
Has anyone read this lately. I‘m confused. Maybe I need to start reading earlier in the day
Amelia is a bright student who is suspended and commits suicide so within an hour at an exclusive private school in Brooklyn. Things start unraveling after her mother receives a message that Amelia was murdered.
Make sure to lower the safety bar on this roller coaster ride!! An interesting premise, social commentary and serious investigation of parenting in the digital age.
Starting a postal book club with my friend thanks to this one!
You know from the start that Amelia has died. But did she or did she not commit suicide? Kate, Amelia's single mom, tries to put together the pieces of what was happening in Amelia's final days. What did she miss?
It's compelling and written well, though the tragedy of it all made it hard to "enjoy" per se and the chapters were long so it dragged at times. And what kind of detective brings the mom along for interviews? Far fetched. ⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2
Decent thriller. Kept me reading but wasn‘t particularly engaging
So good. Slightly terrifying. So very sad. I got to a point where I couldn‘t put this book down. I enjoyed the twists and the turns. However, just like the synopsis says, this book is about a teenager girl who has died, which makes me sad no matter how good the book was.
Just when I thought I was getting a handle on things, something would happen and make me rethink. The author did a great job of casting doubt over the various characters, most of whom were the absolute worst! A decent book about bullying, secret-keeping, privilege, and teen angst.

Starting on my #bookspin book! I hope I can get to #doublespin this month as well.
1. Ridiculously implausible.
2. The Simpsons, first ten seasons only. Also The Office, seasons 1-7.
3. Two fried egg whites and two nectarines.
4. Pacific, baby!
5. Grey Inland (probably an emo band)

Lots of twists and turns and a surprise ending. Money, privilege, teenage angst. All around a very good read.
I usually don't pick books like this, but maybe I should, because this book was phenomenal! I love seeing the perspective of both the mother and the daughter and how they kept misunderstanding each other. A thriller mystery with a little bit of drama. The characters were real and relatable. 10/10
I know a lot of others loved this one but I just didn't by the end. I liked how it was set up. I also liked how it went back and forth through the timelines. But the end I just kind of felt let down by the whole story itself.
I'm not that far into the book yet but all I can think is how awful Kate's mom seems. Yikes!
I liked the characters and the back story in this novel yet plenty of holes exist that troubled me. All in all though an exciting mystery.
9+ hours and off to bed with a book and tea. #25in5 @Andrew65 @TheReadingMermaid
You really out did yourself, @MaleficentBookDragon ! I love it all!!! 😍📚I‘ve been really wanting to read Coraline forever. And thought Reconstructing Amelia wasn‘t on my radar, I saw it was compared to Gone Girl on goodreads and I‘m sold! :) I love all the New York treats, and can‘t wait to share some of this yummy Kabul‘s coffee with my family today. Yayyy!! #thankfulforbookslitsyswap
What an excellent book! If you‘re looking for a mystery and a setting at a private school, this book is for you! Kept me company on a 14 hour drive this past weekend. 😊
#AbbaInAugust This is one of those how well do you know your child “thrillers” , which scares the crap out of me, because apparently mom‘s know shit!!!! #DoesYourMotherKnow 🤫😐😳
I am like sooo disappointed with the book. I found the title in a list of books with amazing suspense and thrill kinda stuff but this was outright simple. The writing style is simple and good, the book moves at an average pace, but boy! I was disheartened by the ending. The book was so unfair to the readers. Go for this just for a casual affair. I don't think the characters or the story will stay with me.
Do share your reviews though.

Oh my goodness, @LapReader - it's here! I'm so excited. Thank you so much! I absolutely love the headband/headscarf. It's beautiful! I can't wait to have a go at the bunting and the tagged book looks so interesting. I also love to colour - it's so therapeutic. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Loved this; many layers, like peeling an onion. It was a good discussion book too; lots of issues involved.

Just a couple of suspenseful books I've read and enjoyed.
It was a high of 72 in PA today where I live. I‘m still enjoying the taste of spring by having our windows open while I read. I have lavender, lemon and breath in our diffuser for an extra little spring feeling. Any other essential oil users?!
In all the craziness of life, we need to take some time to rediscover what makes us happy. We need to self love. Today, I went to barre class with empowering ladies. I got my nails done in a bright color, I drank a cocktail out at lunch. I curled up and read. Set your intention each day. Breath in, breath out. If I asked you to name all the things you love, how long would it take to name yourself?
I had really high hopes for this book based off its summary. However, the delivery fell so flat. It felt like the writer forgot completely about how real teenagers behave, adults bad actions had no consequences, and character's odd actions were never explained or were explained by adding a characteristic that conveniently didn't show up until 200 pages in when it was needed. Very disappointing read.
So that happened. This book did manage to keep my attention, but after all was said and done, it just kind of felt meh. The chapters from Amelia's POV were hard to get through since so many of the teenage characters felt one dimensional. Then we have 3 adults who did some shady stuff and get no real explanation for or conclusion to. Especially Liv and the Gracefully blog. I say this book is worth a skip.
I got this stuffed reindeer head from someone who got it in a white elephant exchange. I think he‘s cute! I just started this book yesterday after gobbling down There‘s Someone inside Your House (I don‘t know if I‘d recommend it, but I had a lot of fun reading Perkins first horror novel. It was like reading a CW show). Haha #decktheshelves #reindeergames
Lots of twists, couldn‘t put it down. And when I had to, I couldn‘t wait to pick it back up. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
💔💔💔💔 My heart breaks for kids being bullied. And I feel like this is very accurate.
I have too much of a headache to actually read, but it's all I want to do. :(
So, I'm gonna reorganize shelves until the advil kicks in.

I don't know exactly how much reading will happen this month because of the new school year, but here's what I'm hoping to pick up. See anything you've enjoyed?

A page turning read as a mother investigates her teen aged daughters suicide by reconstructing her life through her friends, school and social media.
I think I liked this? I liked the way this flipped between present day Kate & past Amelia and I liked the way the story ended up resolving but I felt there were too many storylines left unresolved, two pretty major ones in particular.
