The year is 1973. A priceless book has been stolen from the Oakland Public Library. A crack team of Bookhunters (aka. library police) have less than three days to recover the stolen item. It's a race against the clock as our heroes use every tool in their arsenal of library equipment to find the book and the mastermind who stole it.

Wild and interesting but characters die on the page and there are old technology references that would probably confuse some readers. It helps to know what an old public pay telephone looked like for example or maybe what a microfiche reader was. Glad I borrowed this.

I loved this - the drama, the dedication, the overly high stakes for a crime involving just the one rare book... the glimpse into old school library technology (as its set in the 70s) and this whole getaway scene 😂

Leftcoastzen I miss newspapers on sticks .😀 4y

Back from London 😩 to the hot and dry Los Angeles. At least I have a mini book haul to keep me happy! Of course I wanted to buy so many more books with their beautiful UK covers, but I had to restrain myself. So happy I got to browse the lovely Persephone bookstore! Also happy to have gotten a signed copy of The Vegetarian (and I ❤️ this cover) and also this great cover of Homegoing!!

emilyhaldi Nice choices!! ❤️ 7y

Just got back from our Santa Barbara vacay and huge used book sale. It was bibliophile heaven! I hugged almost the entire selection of classic literature and happily lingered at the biography/memoir table. Best finds: autographed Alice Hoffman, Steinbeck bio and first edition Anne Tyler. 😍Still unpacking all my treasures, so more photos to come. I missed hanging out with you all here. Hope everyone is doing well and reading something fun. 🤗📚

Cinfhen Looks incredible 🙌🏻🎉💖 7y

Hello lovely littens!
I'm in Edinburgh right now and ask for your advice. Are there any bookshops/ restaurants/ cafés that I have to check out?

Tanisha_A Now that's a pretty window! 7y
TrishB My fav restaurant is Hendersons because its vegetarian and I can have anything on the menu!! As opposed to the usual choice of two. 7y
Sarah83 @scripturient maybe you can help? 7y
See All 7 Comments
scripturient My dear Frauke, You've come to the right place. 😁 My recommendations: Mary's Milk Bar on Grasmarket, Armchair Books, Edinburgh Books, Mother India's Cafe. And of course the Oxford Bar (Ian Rankin's pub in the Rebus novels). (edited) 7y
scripturient Starbucks on Princes Street has a wonderful view of the castle when you go to the upstairs shop. Waterstones on Princes Street I don't need to mention, I think. For good burgers (also lots of veggie options): Gourmet Burger on George Street! And if you want a typical 90s experience: the Hard Rock Cafe (their veggie burger is awesome). Another beautiful pub: Cafe Royal. 7y
scripturient Sorry for the lack of order. This just came to me in a kind of stream of consciousnessy way. 😂 7y
drokka If you've read Outlander, The World's End is on the Royal Mile (closer to Holyrood) close to a great cheese makers. (If still there, I haven't been to Scotland in a dozen years) 7y

#FallIntoBooks #day13 #Guilty I am so so guilty of continuing to buy books even though my TBR takes up one side of my library shelves! And I'm also guilty of getting to the postman before the hubby, hiding boxes & packing cases & telling him "No honey, I've had those books for ages!" Or " That's a pre order I forgot about!" ??‍♀️

Lissa00 I'm so guilty of all those things too! 7y
Varshitha 😂😂 7y
AmyG Hahaha...I hide my packages too. Shhhh 7y
RebL I don't hide my packages because my pets don't care, but I do buy more than I can read. 7y

Mehso-so

In Oakland California in 1973, Special Agent Bay of the Library Police is a tough as nails detective, taking down book thieves. This graphic novel captures the feel of a gritty 70‘s cop show with a library theme and it‘s amusing for some of its references to older library technologies (e.g., magnetic tape and card catalogs).

This is my June book haul! 😱Well, I read 3 books from this book pack and 3 books that I had from my previous book hauls! A total of 6 books read during the month of June! Pretty bad since I had seen some Litsy friends who had read more that 10 books per month😳I'm a slow reader😢But I'm addicted to books so that doesn't mean I will stop acquiring more books! I have until...99 yrs old to read them?🤔what I need is a speed reading class😉

GlassAsDiamonds You need Devil Says Bang .... not a spoiler but Aloha from Hell ends in a slightly odd place 😱😱😱 7y
Gissy @GlassAsDiamonds I bought Kill the Dead and Aloha from Hell. But today I will start Storm Front by Jim Butcher. I have a big problem, I want to read them all at once 😱😳 7y
Yeah_I_Read Roar was sooo good 😊 7y
GlassAsDiamonds @Gissy yep, I understand that problem!!! 😊😊😊 7y
