I picked up this book on Sunday, coincidentally just a day after a good friend of mine took his own life. In the midst of grief and guilt and anger, as I read these words, I felt the need to share my heart. If you are scared or ashamed or lost, you are not alone. You are loved. It‘s okay to be not okay. Share your burdens and your troubles, together we are strong enough to defeat any demon. It‘s okay to ask for help. ❤️

pickI devoured this book today after watching the Netflix feature a few days ago. Needless to say I found myself as enchanted by Mary Ann‘s prose as much as Juliet Adams must have been by Dawsey, Eben, Amelia, Isla, and the residents of the island of Guernsey.
The letter writing is the perfect presentation for the story of the Society and how books change lives. 451 characters are not enough to convey the joy I feel after I finally put it down.
I can‘t even begin to imagine the enormity of such a realization. We the living take so much of it for granted, forgetting we will all share in a few key experiences, chief among those being death. When Breath Becomes Air was well written, sometimes scientific, and a interesting glimpse into death.

pickA few months ago I finished this book while I was on deployment. Wishful Drinking was hilarious and had me laughing out loud even on the worst of days. The voice and candor is just marvelous. It‘s like listening to a friend regal you with flair and attitude of the nuances of life. Carrie Fisher may be one with the Force, but she‘ll always be our Princess. #CarrieOnForever
Every time I read this my heart flutters and my soul screams out with joy. I feel powerful 💪
I‘m traveling a lot this upcoming year, starting early with a cross country road trip and eventual move to Spain. My goal is to make time every place I stop to read a few chapters. Also to finish the ever growing pile next to my bookshelf of “to reads”. 🤷🏻♀️
