Well, I started this book... But I may need to work up to that level of nasty.

Help! What should I read next?
Not pictured, but these rereads are also on the shortlist:
Eggshells by Caitriona Lally
Roar by Cecelia Ahern

I can think of only three times in my life that I immediately restarted a book I just finished because I did not want it to end. I'll tag those books in the comments.
Let me introduce you to the fourth book. It is one of the best short story collections I have read, and let me tell you, I have a thing for short stories.
I am so conflicted.
I adore Catherynne Valente. She is one of my do-not-read-reviews-just-immediately-begin-the-book authors. Her style and verbiage and aesthetic are totally my thing.
BUT. I just can't with this book right now. Yes, I am in a reading slump. Yes, I am having trouble with focus. But no, this is too much. The prose is just too pleased with itself. This is so Douglas Adams that I miss what I loved most about Catherynne Valente.

P.S. John C. Reilly narrating One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest sounds like a perfect pair.
I never expected that working in a library would give me less time to read... But here I am starting my first paper book in months.

Favorite part of working in a library so far? Attending cool events on the clock.
Where do you go on your day off from working in a library?
To another library, of course.

$15.25 for 19 books, 1 CD, and a lonely little VHS thrown in for free.
I LOVE the North Palm Beach Public Library's annual book sale.
It's time to begin the next chapter in my story. ♥️📚♥️
I was scrolling through my library's ebooks and stumbled upon what may be the best title ever.
I didn't think it was possible to click "borrow" that quickly.
I know we are only in January, but this is my favorite read of 2019 so far! I have been on a fairytale retelling spree for a while now, and this is one of the best I have ever read. I will be keeping an eye on Danielle Teller.
Is it too early to rate this 5 stars? Reading this book feels like love at first sight.
So far, so good!

I found this cute little bookshelf/lamp at a thrift store for just a few dollars!
Maybe it will inspire me to control my library loans to only what can fit on this shelf...
Okay, everyone. I am in charge of deciding which book my book club reads in January. I want to start the year strong!
Which was the best and/or your favorite book of 2018?
OR
Which book do you think would be appropriate to read at the beginning of a new year?
OR
Which book started the best discussion in your own book club?
Is there a worse feeling than when you finish the book you brought to read while you wait and forgot to bring a backup book?

Celebrating Kanelbullens Dag (Cinnamon Bun Day) at our local Swedish bakery was the perfect excuse to have one more quiet coffee date with Simon before he starts school next week.
Some kids have security blankets, but this kid has security books.
How about 3.5 hours a day? Immortality, maybe?

Oh my goodness, Daphne du Maurier is one of my new favorites. This collection was PERFECT.
Wry humor, haunting narrative, and exceptionally flawed characters have all come together to create stories that feel so very real yet so very strange.
For fans of Agatha Christie and Shirley Jackson. I know now that I have finally read something other than The Birds, I can consider du Maurier among the best of the best. I feel a reading spree coming on!
This was a #BlameaItOnLitsy read. I had never even heard of Otessa Moshfegh until seeing some recent posts by @Lindy.
I have been mourning Shirley Jackson after finishing the last of her stories, but I think I've found her contemporary! This will be an author to watch. I devoured this book in less than a day. It seems like hearing the story of a woman try to sleep her life away would be boring, but it was anything but.

These stories are absolutely chilling but so beautifully written as to be charming. Bradbury crafted a perfect short story collection.
Summer is coming to a close, so you know what that means! It is Ray Bradbury season.
Hey, Audible members! There is a 2-for-1 sale that ends today! If you haven't used your credit yet, hurry over there. There are some great selections available. ❤ #ShutUpAndTakeMyAudibleCredits
It took me long enough to get around to sharing it, but here is the Dark Tower inspired planter @acorter made for me!

Thanks for sharing this quiz, @tournevis!
All of my reading has paid off! $75 to be exact. 😉
I somehow managed to read 17 books this summer, so all those entries helped me to win the grand prize drawing for our local library's reading program!
Somehow I have yet to read both Northanger Abbey and Persuasion, so those will be next up on the TBR!

Dan Stevens reading stories from Roald Dahl's childhood is my new favorite thing.
As soon as we finished the audiobook, Nathaniel wanted to start it all over again! We love Ivan.
Ms. Marple is probably my favorite literary character. Equal parts ruthless and gentle, with an absolutely brilliant mind. I will never stop loving this amazing little old lady.
A little over halfway through the year and I've broken 100 books! Thank goodness for audiobooks. I can't seem to find a quiet moment to read paper books anymore. I have to rely on listening to audiobooks while doing chores. I highly recommend the Agatha Christie books narrated by Emilia Fox and Richard E. Grant. Of course I can't forget Dan Stevens as well. 😍
Oh, the perils of buying used books. Can anyone tell me what happens between the pages of 28 and 37 of The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot?
We're getting ready for the summer reading program at our local library!
The boys have been absolutely obsessed with Emily Arrow lately, so we will be reading every book with an accompanying song.
If you don't know who Emily Arrow is, let me introduce you! http://www.emilyarrow.com/
Book of the Month has been so hit-or-miss for me lately. Here's a book that intrigued both @acorter and me, so I'm going to give it one more try!
Is anyone else in an on-again-off-again relationship with Book of the Month club?
