Half of the year done!
The story is interesting, but not allways as balanced as I‘d like. Sadly enough it started to get boring after some time as it was a lot about ‘me‘ (while saying at the same time it was not about her). My main objection: not very well written. I really wanted to like it more...
@tricours @Jen Great package, tricours! ❤️.
Thank you ever so much. I love the colours and the design of the purse and towel. Very curious about the book. #1001bookswap @BarbaraBB @Sarah83

I read a lot of books. For those wondering how this is possible, this is me with my kids and son in law. ‘If life gives you lemons, make lemonade.‘ Reading books is my lemonade.
Read quite a bit in may and some very good books too.
Going to send a lot of packages today. Hope they‘ll all be in time. @maich @JPeterson #sockswap @LibrarianRyan @julesG #makerswap @oOArankaOo last book coming your way..

I really, really enjoyed this one. Really suspenseful. Too bad the intro to book 2 revealed way too much.
The book is very suspenseful. I was however horrified reading the very explicit, graphicly detailed descriptions of sex with minors, even corpses. Kind of a pity. It spoiled the book totally for me. So big trigger warning (I am anything but prudent, but it was too cruel)

Some books are a treat. This one is that kind of book: immensely beautiful and full of understanding of and compassion with its characters. The description of the MC first arrival in the US gives a great idea on how beeing an immigrant must feel. The insight in the fifties decades in NY from the female point of the MC is interesting. Overall: a joy to read. Not an heavy classic, but well worth the time.
@Kendyl today another package arrived! Thank you very much. I‘m very curious to look inside, but waiting for tomorrow #bookandblanketexchange
It‘s a story about infidelity, about beeing bored by/feeling trapped in marriage and motherhood.
The very honest, and even in these times modern outlook on it ( going for your own hapiness, not really thinking too much of the children) must have shocked people in the 19th century .But,I did not feel any connection to the MC. And, I can‘t see the emancipation in this which lots of others praise.
A short, but beautiful novel. Or is it poetry?
The overall feeling is sadness and loss, the book makes you ache for things and people you don‘t know. It‘s obvious why it is on the 1001 books list.
I‘m pretty sure I‘ll reread this one more than once.
This book is not for too rational people who dislike symbolism, fantasy or fairytales.
To all the others I say ‘you won‘t regret visiting ‘watermelon sugar‘
@Simona @ephemeralwaltz @oOArankaOo My book is in. Will we read our own book first? Can you all send me your mailadress. Mine is jacquelinebrelle@hotmail.com. I‘ll gather then everyones adress. Let me know what you think:-)

I read too much 😮 But I finished a few #classics and some of the #1001books
A delightful book! Great writing skill combined with humour. The parody on equal rights and the insights on how stupid society handles these, made me laugh. This novel is fantasy, but also so much more ❤️ Five stars worth!
And oh, I wished I could introduce myself like this 😃
@Kendyl Sent your package for the #booksandblanketswap Hope it will arrive soon and you‘ll enjoy.
#Shakespearereadalong #Cymbeline I have struggled with the play until I got the idea to do the audiobook. Then there was no stopping. Really enjoyed it. Are we reading more Shakespeare?

Really enjoyed this, but maybe more for the insight on Greek society than the mystery.
Just put my form in for #freakyfriday. Enjoyed so much choosing my favourite books. Sounds like so much fun. Check out @Clwojick @monalyisha
Ian McEwan again writes in a beautiful language and style about people in today‘s society. The novel starts excellent, but looses his pace fast. However, one does not read McEwan to have a lot of action and suspense. The characters wander, can‘t manage to have real understanding of eachother, and have very different memories and opinions.A central theme is the opposition between science and the world of wonder, magic, storytelling,...
