My first book by #nnediokorafor. The excellent narration on the audio transported me to Oomza Uni along with 16 year old Binti. She was the first human accepted to the prestigious intergalactic university. Brave,strong, determined and proud, but it is her skill as a “master harmonizer” that will save the day. Fast paced. #authoramonth Thank you, @Soubhiville for encouraging me to try a new author to me!

What is it like to marry into a 1% family when your upbringing does not come with a trust fund? Sasha is finding out when she becomes a member of the “old money”Stocktons and moves to the Brooklyn Heights Brownstone on Pineapple Street. She doesn‘t always know the rules, but she does want to make it work. Interesting characters who share a love of family.
Written with kindness and humor. Enjoyable read.

Thank you to @jdiehr for posting about iyashikei manga,which portrays characters living out peaceful lives in calming environments.Example-this tender story about the shelter cat that no one wanted and the man who was looking for love will warm your heart. The experience of reading it also was new for me. Starting from the Western back of the book and reading from the page on the right to the left side. A must for all the Litsy cat lovers! 😻

I finished this on the last day of August to complete the #authoramonth2023 challenge.It had been sitting on my bookshelves since 1989. It was a struggle for me,but I was determined to finish it to honor Salman Rushdie,who nearly died for writing this book.At first,I was fascinated with the main characters,Gibreel,the movie star/angel and Saladin of the many voices as they fell from the sky.Then it became very strange.I started to lose my way.

Non fiction that reads like fiction. What a story!

I loved this book! Although I have admired the famous naturalist,Jane Goodall for many years,this is the first book of hers that I have read.It is written mostly in an interview format.Douglas Abrams meets Jane at locations around the world, until Covid and then they meet on Zoom. Jane shares many positive stories to encourage the reader to believe we all can make a difference. I did a combo read/listen. Great photos and the power of her voice.

My new audio/physical book combo. So far, it is a wild ride! Such fun!

I read this book because my 14 yr old niece was reading,and we discuss books. It was a fast paced read, and I can understand why she is so popular. Miles is a pilot with a traumatic past who begins a relationship with a nurse who is the sister of his friend. The relationship is only for sex, and it doesn‘t work. While I feel sorry for “the boy”,his treatment of Tate although reprehensible is romanticized.And a young girl would sadly think it‘s ok.
